Help! Phone just died
Hope someone can help! My phone has just died. I had this morning and using it fine and then just died, my sign of life, charger makes no difference. It was just in my bag, nothing spilt on it, not dropped, nothing! Literally just died... Help!
I had this same problem this morning with my iPhone 5S and, seeing your post solved my problem. Didn't know about holding down both buttons. THANK YOU!!!!!

I bought the iPhone when it first came out and had no issues after 3 days worth of trying to register it. Afterwards, the phone was working fine with no issues. Last night after watching a video I decided to retire for the night. I plugged it into the docking station and went to sleep. This morning I wanted to put the phone in vibrate and noticed that nothing happened. The screen was black and I was like, hmm, maybe I turned it off last night and didn't notice before going to sleep. So I tried to turn it on with no luck. Seems I need to call apple care today after work;( Anyone else experienced this issue? Just in case I have the latest firmware from apple on the phone.
I have no idea where you are coming from with this.
The OP indicated that AppleCare was very helpful and the problem was resolved. How on earth is this not caring?
If this is indeed a common issue, I'm sure there are "real" technical "approaches" being conducted behind the scenes by the employees responsible for this with AppleCare personnel taking part in that process only by passing on information acquired during phone support, etc.
I'm not sure what else you expect from front line AppleCare personnel who are charged with troubleshooting problems over the phone and if a particular problem cannot be resolved over the phone, the pickup/return of the iPhone is scheduled for inspection/testing for repair or possible replacement along with documenting information for reports/feedback that is passed along. -
I have the new I phone 4s and the screen just went black. My husband is in ICU and I left the phone off the charger last night incase his nurse needed to call me. This morning it had a bit of battery left but before I could charge the nurse called but the volume was low. After I hung up I went to charge it and the screen was black. It is on the charge now but won't turn back on. All my other Verizon phones would turn on on the charger. I have no other phone and like I said my husband is in ICU 45 mins away. I have only had the phone 2 weeks and I have never dropped it.
You will need to let it charge for awhile before you will be able to power it back on. If the battery drained all of the way to the point that it shut off then it will take a while for it to get enough power to turn back on....even on the charger.

How can a brand new phone just die? I was texting a friend and set my phone down for a minute to do some work, and when I picked it up again about 10 minutes later, it was dead. The battery had read at 80% when I set it down, so I know it couldn't be that. But it's shut off and it won't turn on. With all that I paid for this phone, I would expect it to NOT have problems like this. And when I tried to use the online support option on Verizon's website, I was told to CALL THE SUPPORT LINE! if my phone was just plain not working. HOW STUPID IS THAT!? If my phone is NOT WORKING, how can I call!

I know how stressing a new phone can be if it just randomly dies. Due to the Motorola RAZR series not having a removable battery it sounds like your phone actually crashed and not truly died. A crash happens if there's too much information running in the background and the phone is unable to continue running. If the battery had charge on it still then just pressing and holding down the power and volume down buttons for 10 seconds will power the phone up when released. I've included a link to the manual where this is described on page 55 http://bit.ly/AhbLjG. This post is a few days old so I do hope that our support has been able to assist you in having a fully functioning device.
To avoid this happening in the future, you can use the task manager to close out running applications. Press and hold down the button that looks like a house and you will see smaller windows appear. Just move them to the right and they will be closed. Let us know if this helped please.

so I tried that link you posted, i tried connecting it to a wall plug and it turned back on but there's no signal. it just says searching and the wifi isn't working, as in, it doesn't give me the option to turn on the wifi... also, when i disconnected it from the wall plug it died again and didn't turn back on (despite the battery being 100%)..
This is really odd because I had the battery replaced last month...
I still don't know what to do.. it won't respond when I connect it to my laptop to restore it either!!
It's sad that I'm so dependent on my phone but I feel so helpless without it! -
I was listening to music on the iPod app when the phone just died. It had around 80% of battery as well so it's not that. I've tried resetting (holding down home and on/off button) but no luck. Any suggestions?
The iOs 5.1 is a huge file that needs to be dowloaded when updating/restoring, your phone hasnt completed the update so its now in recovery mode. Look on the left of itunes, it should say downloads under the store section with a spinning wheel, click that and youll see the update file with a time remaining, wait for that download to finish then try the restore again and it should work

We cannot know with the amount of information you have provided. First thing to try is a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

after resetting my phone to factory settings, it will not turn on. When i press the power button a white screen and black apple pop up. it stays on that screen and will not go to the home screen, it will just die. please help!

It seems that year long delay from having your lock button repaired has finally caught up to you. Sounds like you have some damage to your phone that requires repair/replacement. Take it to a Apple store or contact Apple Tech Support.

hi , can someone guide me to restore my iphone? I was downloading ios 6 but i think it was stuck and after that my phone just freeze with the apple icon. I keep following the instruction to press HOME and POWER OFF button then try to get it boot up to recovery mode but failed. Anyone have any idea how to fix it?
1) i have downloaded the latest itunes
