Help please. Some of my 'Notes' within Mail have disappeared? This is a problem, any advice or help is appreciated.
I have just noticed that some of my important and often used 'Notes' within my Mail app have misteriously disappared? The last time I accessed them was only a few days ago, and now gone! I have Latest Lion running, no iCloud sync at he moment and the 'Notes' were kept in my Notes sector in Mail. I have searched all mailboxes and files in Library... gone! Any help or advice?

Just came looking for answers and understanding for same exact situation. You are not alone. I am very glad I did not have to waste time finding the right string or forum, BUT I AM NOT glad I lost a very important file.
Driving of a nice three hour trip Sunday, I put some great inspirations into a current note in my "Notes" program.
Immediately plugged phone in to computer when I got home, and immediately did a sync. Today, while out, when I checked my iPhone, the notes I entered the prior day were GONE! iTunes did NOT notify me of a "Conflict with sync" and well info gone, me very angry!
Plus, I did an experiement. I repeated exactly the before mentioned actions and the same result happened. (make note change on iPhone, plug into comp and sync in iTunes, remove iPhone from comp - with no "sync conflict warning message") On the fourth try (I was very aggrivated by then) I got the "sync conflict warning message." I repeated the test and its working fine now.
WHAT THE F(*&%!!!!!
I depend on notes for all my todo lists, inspirations, quotes etc...... I use this feature the most. What am I to do?
Is there a way to have only the most recent note be the update?

WORK FOR ME , I FINALLY GOT TO THE `NOTES`, AND I OPENED MY NEW MOUNTAIN LION NOTE APP, AND JUST DRAG&DROPED EACH ONE, I PUT SEVERAL INTO ONE NOTE, THEY WILL OPEN THERE.
LABELED THEM OLD NOTE 1, OLD NOTE 2, ETC., NOT SURE THIS IS ALL OF THEM BUT HOPEFULLY ITS A START! AGAIN YOUR WISDOM IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

I recently upgraded to OSX 10.9.1. Within Mail, I can no longer scroll in any window but the mailbox window. What happened? Not in the message window or the reading pane.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Did you check for connection problems?

You can also try different connection settings.

I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4. Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful. Any advice as I also have MIcrosoft word etc and don't want to have to purchase these again.
That is the best list ever for Lion compatibility!
You can also do this:
Launch the programs you know and love on your Snow Leopard Mac.
Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "Kind" tab it will identify the programs running PowerPC, Intel and Intel 64.
No PowerPC apps will run under Lion.
Don't worry about Apple's system stuff like Mail, iCal, Safari.
Don't worry about the system processes, like fontd and launchd, those will be replaced if you go to Lion.
Just look for the programs that you need. -

I purchased all out of Denmark. My HD crashed and I reload it all. While doing this I had to install new iTunes, - this is the newest version 10.xx. The old version was probbaly 9.xx (cant remember). So the library files are from an old version, - but it does not look like creating a problem. I am now in Sweden, so iTunes was installed in Sweden, and I try to re-download my missing songs while being here in Sweden. However, - I belive I am connected to iTunes store in Denmark. ... (it takes 2 smileys for this, - if you get as far as to here and still have an overview.) -

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
Envelope Index
ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results. -
i keep getting a message when i try to synch my iphone "This iphone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started" I have synched this phone with this computer many times before with no problems. Can anyone please shed any light on how to fix this? thx

I am using a WD My Passport Studio external hard drive as a Time Machine. I get the error that a back up folder could not be created when my iMac has been asleep, any advice. The hard drive is set set not to go to sleep.
Were you not plugged in via USB to begin with?
I would recommend performing some resets just to be on the safe side. Unplug the external HD, and try these steps:

I had a similar problem, which I solved like this:
In the sidebar, there are various main headings in gray. If I hover the cursor over those headings, I see the words "show" or "hide."
I went to the heading "ON MY MAC," hovered the cursor over it, clicked on "show." Voilà! All my mailboxes, which hold archived emails sorted by topic, are now displayed!
Now the question is: Why is there no reference to this in any of the help documents anywhere? -

All my mail have disappeared from my mac and my iOS devices. Seemingly from the iCloud server as well. How can I recover them?
Well, you can't since the emails are stored on icloud's mail server. Try this test, using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and check the mail page. If they are gone, then they are really gone.
Now, I thought I could go into a Time Machine backup and view old emails from a day ago. Unfortunately, Time Machine doesn't seem to save icloud based email, since regardless of the past date I go to, only the current emails show up, not older ones. My conclusion is that I wouldn 't be able to recover them from a TM backup.
What had you been doing on the mac or device that causes emails to be deleted? (I hope you don't have a family member or friend using the same icloud account - they may have deleted all emails by mistake.) -
I go to Settings>Activate Device and it gives me a code but does not give me a page to log in. Any advice?
I'm sure you figured it out by now, but I ran into the same problem. I found this on the HBOgo site. This help me.
1) Launch HBO GO on your device.
2) Navigate to the 'Settings' tab.
3) Click the 'Activate Your Device' button - the next screen should show you your activation code.
4) Navigate to www.hbogo.com/activate.
5) Select Apple TV from the device drop down list.
6) Select your TV provider.
7) On the Activate a Device screen, enter the code displayed on your television (from step 3), click the 'Activate' button.
8) You should see a 'Success!' message on both your television and your browser. Until the 'Success' message appears on your television screen, you will not be able to watch a video.
9) You are ready to start streaming video on HBO GO! -
My iPod touch is synced to my old Mac and I have a new PC. Now when I plug my iPod into the new computer it will make the connection sound, but will not show up in my iTunes. I do not care to have the content copied over. Any suggestions?
