Help plz on SUM.

Question

hi i have a little program with a function. function return type is int im geting return type like
int chk = myfunction(somevar);
int chk1 = myfunction(somevar);
int chk2 = myfunction(somevar);
int chk3 = myfunction(somevar);when i try to sum all these chk variables it me error operator + cannot be applied to <nulltype>,int
int sum = chk1 + chk2 + chk3 + chk;plz help me what is wrong in the code with thanx

Yes,
It seems be true.
I think one of myfunction(somevar) returned null.Then the return type of that method can't be 'int' as
the OP claimed.
Jos there can be a case that he is having an int return type but returning an Integer value(provided that he is using a Java compiler greater than 1.5.0).
static int m1() {
          Integer i = null;
          return i;
