Help preparing a design so that it can be cut on a plotter.

Hi all, i have an image that i would like to cut out in vinyl.
So first of all, how would i go about preparing the image ready to be cut.
So i guess i would have to cut the image down to just outlines, remove all the colours etc.
Then copy over to my Dr Stika software and cut it out on my roland stika sx-15.

Thats for the replies.
Dr Stika only openes its own format and .BMP.
So what i have done is open the logo in illustrator, export it as a .BMP, and then import the design in Dr . Stika.
This worked for my logo design and seems to be the only way to do it.
If there is any other ways, i'd love to hear them although with my logo, this way did work well.

Help removing a hyperlink/mailto that I can't find.

I have a multi-page PDF that I have added a form to. When I get to the forth page the hand changes to a pointer and if I click anywhere on the page it opens an email message addressed to: "2; @; .3078.:UVW". I cannot find a hyperlink anywhere in the document. Is there a way to view all hyperlinks in the document or a way to linerize the objects so I can find and remove the hidden link? How do I fix this? It happens randomly and the mailto value changes, but is always some random set of letters and numbers.

You have a button that covers the entire page and also has no color attributed to it. Test this by making a copy of the document, open the copy document, go into Form Editing Tool, click on the page and click the "Delete" key.

No, this capability does not exist in Pages.
LibreOffice has a forms designer so that you can create in-line, fillable forms. You can then one-button export to PDF. The LibreOffice Writer Guide has an entire chapter assigned to Forms.

You can't lose it because they are not 3rd party apps.
Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

Need a little help simplifying an image so it can be cut out on a vinyl cutter

Hi all, I'm after a bit of help.
I'm wondering if I get hold on of say an image of a car, could I have this converted to black and white and then delete parts of it so that it can be cut out on a vinyl cutter?
When converting it, I would like most of the image deleted but to keep the rough outlines and some shading etc so the image looks great and can be cut out on a cutter.
I know I'm not explaining this too well but I hope you can understand what I mean.

You might be in for quite a bit of work if you want to convert an image of a car to something that can be cut on a vinyl cutter and successfully turned into cut vinyl graphics. Not only do the resulting paths need to be clean, but all the line work must be large/thick enough in order to be successfully cut on the vinyl cutter and weeded by hand before applying release tape. Really thin line work can get chewed up by the plotter blade or it can get messed up when you're trying to weed away the negative vinyl areas of the cut graphics.
The current live trace filter in Illustrator is not vinyl cutter friendly. The problem is it produces too many small objects that are too small to cut and it makes objects that are really stroked, open path segments. Vinyl cutting requires all of the paths to be closed. Sometimes I'll have better luck using the "Create Work Path" function in Photoshop for this sort of thing. Take a high contrast black and white or grayscale image, use the Color Range dialog box to create a selection and then use the Create Work Path command. It typically generates paths that are all closed. After that you do a little editing work to get rid of tiny objects too small to cut. Go to the File menu and select Export Paths to Illustrator.
For the best results you have to digitize the paths by hand. It goes much faster if you have a graphics tablet.

Re: check that the appointments in my phone are going into iCloud calendars....exactly how do I do this? I fear this is a really stupid question!
My iCloud account is set up with my Apple ID as one email account (for example [email protected]) which is the email account I use to sign up for internet sites like Amazon, Apple,etc, so that I can differentiate vendors/mass emails. But my default calendar on my iPhone is in a different email name (ie [email protected]) which I use for most communications to friends, relatives, etc. and it is this account that holds most of my appointments. To further complicate things I have other email accounts that I use for business/professional and community work. If I want all my calendars to show on my iPhone AND sync to my iCloud, do I set this at the phone level or the iCloud level? or both?
Let me clarify....It looks like if I go into appointments that I previously set up through my personal account (ie above [email protected]) and edit the entry on my iPhone, selecting the iCloud "home" calendar within the entry, it will then sync to my iCloud account, no problem....do I have to do this to EVERY entry I have? or is there a way to name my personal account as one to sync to iCloud?

The cleanest way is to lock your imge, the draw the cut shape with the Pen Tool, set Fill to None and a suitable Stroke Weight. For rounded paths, you ClickDrag Handles out from carefully chosen Anchor Points all the way round, ending where you started. You may adjust the position of the current Anchor Point while you draw by pressing the Spacebar, which lets you freeze the Handles and move the Anchor Point about; you can Ctrl/Cmd+Z to go back, and you may start over. To practise with the Pen Tool, you may try some (outlined) letters from a font with serifs, or any relevant curved path that resembles the desired cut path for the image.
Or, if you have a distinct colouring where you want the cut path, you may Object>Image Trace the image with the right settings (including creating (stroked) paths, then expand and delete everything but the cut path.

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

Thanks for your help. What is really irritating is that Apple give a big hurray about what they have added as "new" in Pages 5 (most of it pretty useless) without telling you of the myriad things they have deleted. If they had shown the list your gave the link to, I doubt may regular users would risked going to Mavericks with its auto upgrade. My partner got the message in time and is sticking with the earlier operating systems and Pages on Mac and iPad. Lucky girl.
I have found a way to use my iPad to add chapters written while on the move to reports on my iMac Pages 4.3. If I write it on the new Pages on the iMac (don't seem to be able to revert there), the send the report as an email in WORD format (not Pages) and download it in the Text Editor, then cut and paste into the story on the iMac. Hardly elegant but it works.
