Help Required 3rd Nano in three months

My third Nano in 3 months has just died with the same fault. It can only be used when attached to a power source. It seems to lose the power software for the battery and when you put it on charge it just constantly charges and never finishes. Attach it to the netbook or to a power source and all ok. Am I doing something wrong, is my netbook screwing up the ipod software ??? Can anybody help

Ok, if this is your third nano with the same problem, it has got to be something other than the nano that is causing this.
First, make sure you are using the cable that came with the Nano. Do not use your old ipod cables. The right cable should ONLY plug into a USB port.
Next, connect the ipod directly to your computer - NOT through a USB hub. If you are charging off of your computer, the computer must be on in order to charge the ipod. You may have some power saving setting that turns off or reduces power to your USB ports. Turn that off.

What is the size of your hard disk? PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine. Just a thought here.

Hi Shootist. I would be interested in hearing some reasoning on this. I almost always use a USB cable to connect my camera to the MBP for transferring pictures, and have moved about 30,000 this way over the last 6 years since my photography went digital. Recently, on the rare occassions when I have only a few to transfer and I was too lazy to go for the cable, I have used the card reader; about half those times I have difficulty getting the MBP to recognise the card. I find I have to press the card very hard into the slot for it to be recognised.
My rationale is quite possibly wrong, but I feel that the USB connectors are more robust and hard-wearing than the flimsy connectors on an SD card. Also, I haven't measured it, but I think the data transfer is faster with the cable. (I just came across this test, which reports noticeably faster transfer for cable than built-in card reader, but the computer was a PC)

Dont buy this model again, this is the most common problem and i have gone through 4 of these 6th gen nanos all with the same problem. You can find youtube videos that show you how to fix it yourself but you run the risk of breaking your ipod, also opening the ipod voids any warrently.

Want to show last three months data dynamicaly based month value seleted in prompt. ex: When Septemper is selected report should show, Sep, Aug, Jul
tried using ago function but i want to use three measure columns. So is there way using single measure column and achieving.

SatheeshSatheesh, I have a question for you. It is the same as the comment left on the article in the link that @user gave you. Like that link -- which doesn't work for all scenarios, how are you accounting for say the month of January? Without a "year" included, you cannot always "subtract 3" to get "3 months ago." Does "month" always correspond to the current year?
Finally, what are the values of the column the filter is to be applied? All these are important to know if you want help on this. Try again. Thanks.

If you change the apple id on one device, is the id locked to that device for three months?

I bought two ipod touches for my children last week (all kids under 10 if it makes a difference). Child #3 already has one. When I bought them, I was told that I can download movies on each for an upcoming long distance trip. If child 1 wants to watch something downloaded on child 2's ipod, they can sign in under child 2's account and watch it on their own ipod BUT it won't be saved to that device.
However, I went in today to get them set up. I asked about this, and music and other things. I was told that if you sign in on one device under a different apple id, that device is locked to that apple id for three months. Its apparently an effort to stop pirating. I was told its the same for music. If I buy a song on my account that my 5 year old wants, I have to buy it twice because if my son signs onto his ipod under my apple id, the ipod is then under my account for the next 3 months, along with all my games, music etc. and his apps are no longer accessible to him.
Is this acccurate? Honestly, I"m afraid to try. I don't want my kids to be stuck with my apple id, which has no apps or antyhing attached to it other than some music.
BTW I had to set up their own itunes account despite that they're too young to have one because we're maxed at 5 devices (2 iphones, ipad and our own ipods). We couldn't add any others so I created a itunes account for my two youngest to share and a separate account for my 10 year old so that he could have his own facetime.
Can anyone help? Can I sign onto my kids ipod with my id without having them locked out of their apps? Can the two of them share a movie?

Just saw your post. Better late than never. You may want to
consider GameBrix.com, where you can create Flash based, casual
games using your web browser. No downloads are required. You can
create a game from scratch using a library of images, sounds and
game mechanics. You can also upload your own. The online script
editor will allow you to view and edit the ActionScripts associated
with each game mechanic. In short, a great way to ramp up on game
design and build your own game without investing a lot of $

Urgent help required: Query regarding LC Variables

Sometime earlier I was working on a performance issue raised by a customer. It was shell script that was taking almost 8-9 hrs to complete. During my research I came across a fact that there were some variables which were not set, the LC variables were impacting the sort funnel operations because of which the script was taking a long time to execute.
I asked them to export the following commands, after which the program went on smoothly and finished in a couple of mins:
export LC_COLLATE=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LC_MESSAGES=C
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO8859-1
export HZ=100
export LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
Later I did recover that setting the LC_COLLATE to C, is not helping and the program was again taking a lot of time. Few questions that I want to ask are:
1. Can someone please tell me, what each of these variable mean and how these values make a difference.
2. When I exported LC_COLLATE=en_US.ISO8859-1, it worked fine, but when i tried with the defalut value LC_COLLATE=C, then why the program didnt work.
As this issue is still going on, hence I would request All to provide their valuable inputs and let me know as much as possible.
Appreciate your help in this regard.

A new development in this regard. The customer has send us a screen shot in which they were trying to export the locale variable using the commands which I have pasted above. I can see in the screen shot that while exporting LC_COLLATE and LC_TYPE, they get a message that ""ksh: export: couldn't set locale correctly"".
Request everyone to please give their inputs as it's a bit urgent.

Controls the behavior of character handling functions.
LC_TIME
Specifies date and time formats, including month names, days of the week, and common full and abbreviated representations.
LC_MONETARY
Specifies monetary formats, including the currency symbol for the locale, thousands separator, sign position, the number of fractional digits, and so forth.
LC_NUMERIC
Specifies the decimal delimiter (or radix character), the thousands separator, and the grouping.
LC_COLLATE
Specifies a collation order and regular expression definition for the locale.
LC_MESSAGES
Specifies the language in which the localized messages are written, and affirmative and negative responses of the locale (yes and no strings and expressions).
You can use command
# locale -k LC_CTYPE
to see more detail about each type.

My Calendar synced to the cloud and now all but three months are gone! How do I get the rest back?

I upgraded to the new iso and all was fine last night. Over night, I guess my phone must have been backed up to the cloud and when I got up this morning, everything but three months was missing!
I did a manual sync before I updated to my computer will it still be there? How would I recover it?

After spending three months building a twenty six page Book Project in iPhoto i added a page and later decided to delete the page. The whole project was gone, the undo menu was grayed out and there was nothing in the iPhoto trash about my Book.
Surly I can find this if I knew the path to find the project in a library on a back column I have of my hard drive.. Could anyone help me?

Sorry I'm having a hard time getting this.
If I go to my hard drive BIGMAC>Library>Application Support>iPhoto>the only thing in this folder is Themes.
However, when I "Get Info" it's 580MB for 24,421 items. iPhoto says I have 35,977 photos. I would think the database would be into the GB for this many photos.
If I go to BIGMAC>system>Library>I find nothing about iPhoto
Is the iPhoto file in the Application Support the one I need to replace with my backup?

Billed for transfer to new address but three month...

After three months and continuous calls to BT they have just sent an engineer who agrees there is no connection nor is one possible with the current cabling situation. BUT bt took £130 from my account and the first quarters rental. Now I have to try and get repaid.
