TIA.

Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
If you upgraded from an earlier version of OS X such as Snow Leopard, the procedure you want is not this one. Let me know.

No promises but a System Reset is worth trying:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide.  Pay special attention to page 162.  Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.

Finally, the User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark.

  • Syncing iPod After Restoring iPod to Original Settings

I am having a problem syncing my iPod with iTunes after restoring my iPod to it's original settings. I have a 20GB iPod with a click wheel that I recently restored to its original settings because the iPod was locking up. To complete the restore, I had to first force my iPod into disk mode, which allowed me to restore the iPod. After successfully restoring my iPod, I connected my iPod to my computer to sync it with iTunes and download my music library back to my iPod. At first, 3 to 4 songs/podcasts began to download, but then I received the following message:
"Windows-Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the data for the file G:\iPod_Control\iTunes. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."
My OS is Microsoft XP. I went to the Micosoft webpage, but didn't find any helpful information. If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem, your input would be apprecicated.

When you went to Microsoft, did you find/try the following document?
"Delayed Write Failed" error message when you manage files in Windows XP

  • My iPod touch won't connect to wifi. Password is correct. Already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings. Already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.

A message keeps popping up when I try to join my network that says, "unable to join the network."
I have already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings.
I already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.
The password is correct. I even made sure by checking my wifi account.
I have completely restarted my internet connection multiple times.
I have also restarted my ipod multiple times
My wifi was working on my iPod yesterday before I reset all settings.
I updated it yesterday to iOS 5. Still didn't work.
It wasn't updated to the new iOS 6 until today so I don't think it has anything to do with the upgrade.
My camera started to be glitchy, so I reset my Ipod like I was advised in another discussion.
My internet wasn't connected anymore. My password wasn't working either, but the wifi connection was still showing.
    Safari still wasn't working, though.
I did the sensible thing and I reset my network connection.
Now, the password isn't working and there's no wifi signal.
The camera is working well now, but the wifi is messed up. I didn't expect any of this to happen. The internet is all I use the iPod for. Now, the iPod is useless to me. Please help?

are other things still connecting to the wifi without a problem?
Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

My ipod has received error code (9).  I have tried to restore, but failed.  Any idea how to restore back to original settings?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • How to restore macbook to original

how do you restore macbook to original condition

Locate the original discs that came with your MacBook.
    Insert the first disk.
Restart the computer, holding down the C key to boot to CDROM.
Reinstall the original operating system and applications from the discs.
Note that this will erase and overwrite information on your computer, making it inaccessible to the average new owner, such as a family member.
It is not a comprehensive 'high security' erasure and would not stop a determined unscrupulous person from possibly recovering personal information that was overwritten. The only way to guarantee that nothing could ever be recovered from your original hard disk would be remove, destroy, and shred the original drive, and replace the drive with a new blank drive, and then install the OS and applications from the original disks.

What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

  • Restoring MacBookPro to original settings

I would like to restore my computer back to my original settings, basically wipe everything out. I have backed everything (photos, documents, etc.) up on an external hard drive. I am having a hard time finding directions to do this, maybe I'm looking in the wrong location. I'd rather not mess my computer up more.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Restoring system to original settings

I am trying to restore my computer to the original settings to overcome a Tojan Horse that has hijacked my Internet browser. When I use the restore option, it only allows me to go back 3 months, and then tells me the settings then are the same as today. How do I restore the system to the original system checkpoint--to when I purchased the computer in March 2003? Many thanks for the help.

    Hi,
if your restore options doesn't offer more restore points, then there is not chance to work with this function.
So if you want to get back the original settings, you have to recover your System with the delivered Recovery CD.
    bye

  • Reset macbook to original settings

I want to restore my macbook (white) to its original settings so that I can give it to my son for Christmas without all my stuff on it.  What is the easiest way  to do that?  I'm not sure if I have/or got discs with it.

Without the original discs, you really won't be able to do it. If you can find the install discs, you can then boot to the install disk, erase your Mac's hard disk, then do a fresh install of the OS, remove the disc and shut down at the point where it prompts you for user information. At that point, when your son starts up the system, setup should carry on and let him set up the box as if it were new.
Another way of doing this could be to set up an account for him on the box. Log into his account and delete yours. Subsequently, uninstall any and all applications that did not ship with it.
If you're really stuck for the install discs, you can try contacting Apple to see whether you can buy them. If Apple says no, then ifixit.com is your next stop. When ifixit.com decommissions a notebook for salvage parts, discs are available for resale. Specifiy the model and they'll show whether they have those discs in stock.

  • Trying to restore IPod to original settings- urgent! going on vacation!

    Hey everyone
I really need your help. I have an Ipod Touch 2nd generation. My friend... who is a hardcore techie... did something "cough" to my iPod that I'd rather not mention on here. Anyways, he's on vacation.. and I accidently let my iPod die... and therefore it won't turn on again, even when charged... its "bricked" i guess.
So I put it into DFU mode... and that was all fine and dandy. It showed up on my itunes as iPod, and said N/A for everything else (serial number.. etc). This has happened before, and I just pressed restore, and it went back to its original legal condition that I bought it in.
So I'm trying to do that again, however, when i click restore, it says "Software for this iPod is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again"
I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes at least 3 times now, and its still not working. PLEASE HELP! I'm going to vegas tomorrow and really really want and need my ipod. Thanks!
PS. I'm asking how to restore it to original condition... not how to do anything illegal!!!

    this site *****
i found an answer somewhere else
    thanks for nothing apple!
