Help - site uploaded has horrible errors, fine in preview
I just uploaded authorizedagents.com. I exported html from muse and uploaded via ftp. Looked great in preview but now a total mess and I am in trouble. Can't figure out what is wrong since it looks all fine in preview. Also tells me something that muse menu has error when opening up site.
When the result of Preview Site in Browser looks fine, but the uploaded site does not there was most likely a problem with the upload process.
If you're exporting to HTML from Muse and using an external FTP client to upload, you need to be sure to upload the complete folder structure that was exported by Muse (all the files and folders exactly as exported).

I bought a Macbook Pro (some hw-generations ago) knowing I could install Windows on it if I choose to. I chose to recently. Now I know that buying this laptop was one of the worst ideas ever. Driver and Hardware support is aweful. Let me tell you the story:
At first Bootcamp wasn't even able to download the driver software, I didn't have the OS-X DVD right there so it took me quite a bit to find the correct version of the bootcamp drivers online - a regular user would have given up here.
Next Bootcamp couldn't even manage to partition the HDD - ridiculous. After a bit of command line fiddeling (I feel like you need the command line in OS-X for everything, all the time) it managed to do that anyways, for whatever reason it couldn't resolve this apparently common error itself. Being used to Linux up to this point it was annoying but not impossible.
Installing Windows7 (at first 32bit) was just as always, eventually dropping me into the Windows environment with no drivers at all. I could also install the previously downloaded bootcamp drivers, which gave me about all the drivers plus an apparently totally useless Bootcamp service that lets me do some (but very few - as usual with all apple products) settings, that you can do in the Windows System settings on every other PC.
The basic hardware drivers, such as GPU, keyboard, hotkeys, etc seem fine. Touchpad support is aweful, there's hardly any options in the bootcamp service utility and of course the touchpad doesn't report as a touchpad to Windows, but as a regular mouse, so you can't do the usual setup through Windows. It's kind-of working, but you can't - for example - Rightclick-Drag things.
Now this is where the big problems begin: Standby is completely broken. If I close the laptop, and open it again later, sometimes it will just not power up. Pressing the power-button reveals that it apparently crashed during standby and will be rebooting from hibernation. After that usually the touchpad driver crashes and I need to reboot completely to get basic functionality back.
The audio driver is broken as well, the smartphone-style audio jack works for speakers/headphones, but won't detect microphones, which worked just fine on OSX. I had to buy a USB-Sound card to be able to use my headset.
The laptop (I'm guessing it's the backlight inverter) also started making weird noise (the noise that inductors make sometimes, you know, some kind of beeping). I don't know if this is related but it doesn't sound like the backlight (which used to be much brighter, too) will last for much longer.
All this is very well reproducable, also on 64bit Win7. Most of these problems have been confirmed, for years, and never been solved.
All in all, thanks apple. This 1300 USD Laptop is basically unusable and doesn't keep its promises at all. I love the aluminum body, but if I have to do 5 minutes of rebooting after every standby, it's really not worth it. I will definitely not buy another Mac, but pretty much the same device minus the trouble for a third the price.

The bad trackpad driver is a fact that you guys can check on your own, there's just hardly any options.
You have not told us what year/model Macbook Pro you have. Solutions vary depending on hardware.
If you are running Snow Leopard the support software (drivers) are on your Snow leopard install disk. If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion the support software can be downloaded from within Bootcamp Assistant or from the Bootcamp Download site. See the Bootcamp Installation and Help manuals.
I have not seen many posts with standby issues. I personally do not any standby issues. I assume you setup the Windows power management.
The audio driver included with the support software works fine.
The trackpad works well within Windows including drag and drop, two finger click, etc. Use the Bootcamp Control panel, accessible by clicking on the little diamond icon in the Windows task bask bar. Once in the control panel configure the trackpad and other options how you want them to operate. -
HELP My webcam has horrible picture, horrible pixel capture rate, ect. What's wrong with it? HELP
I (try to) use a Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro webcam. The sound seems to work great. The effects I can add to the videos seem wonderful. There is only one major problem......the picture on this webcam is abysmal. It isn't just too dark or too sloppy or whatever, the whole pixel capturing rate seems heavily flawed. The webcam picture (both video recording, photo capture, and everything else) is extremly blurry and my face looks like a moving colored blob. The video picture looks like a tiny picture that has been enlarged a lot that you can see the little pixel squares, and the problem gets worse when you actually start the recording and is incoherent.
The webcam is relatively new and cost me $50. Now this may not be a particularly expensi've webcam but it doesn't mean the picture should be as bad as a video from the 930s (worse in fact but with color). What is wrong with my webcam and what can I do to fix the picture?I think you can thank Apple for this. See this discussion.

Error message on trying to view site uploaded
Format: Flash CS5, Platform: MacPro
In creating a site for client I had no problem in uploading and viewing on first go. I needed to update the metadata, made changes, uploaded and got error messages when trying to view on safari, firefox, opera. I went back into server and uploaded previous version (which formerly I had no problem pulling up) same thing- error messages. Contacted the host server and they pulled up and said all was fine- no problems PC or Mac and all browsers. They tested the site at a third party website montoring service and the site resolved at over 56 sites worldwide (http://h-t.co/vk34). I have had others check the site and no prob. in viewing. I have worked on another site at the same time and there are no problems at present with it: http://www.inthewoodonline.com/
Question: I still cannot bring up the site on my Mac-Firefox, Opera, or Safari or on my PC-IE, Safari, or Chrome so what is wrong! I can place it on my website server in a folder and all comes up.
Problem: there will be additions to this site and I will not be comfortable doing if I cannot view it real time and not through a round-a -bout way.

Try going to a location where you can connect to wifi and see if that doesn't help. If it does, you can try reinstalling your flash player then make sure the flash code you wrote is compatible. I seriously doubt that's an issue though. I'll try the new flash player here and see if I can 'create' the same problem and get back to you.

I have two laptops, a Powerbook G4 and a MacBook.
Here's the ways that iChat video chat works for me:
Connecting via AIM buddy list while both laptops are connected to the internet via the same router (ie. they are in the same location).
Connecting via AIM buddy list from either computer to a test computer (appleutest03) over the internet.
Connecting via AIM buddy list from either computer to a friends computer over the internet.
[I do not use Bonjour]
Here's the way that it doesn't work:
Connecting via AIM buddy list from one laptop to the other laptop over the internet. My comment in the previous post referred to the phenomenon where both computers could video chat if they were on the same router, connected to the internet, connecting through the AIM buddy list, but not if each computer was connected to the internet through a separate router at a separate location (ie. next door). In other words, if both laptops are at my apartment, and connected through that apartment's router to the internet, they can video chat. If both laptops are at the apartment next door, connected through that apartment's router to the internet, they can video chat. If one laptop is at apartment A, using apartment A's router to connect to the internet, and one laptop is at apartment B, using apartment B's router to connect to the internet, they cannot video chat, and the -8 error results.

When attempting to burn an audio cd from my playlist, I get an error message that says, burn failed due to unknown error (4280). It has been working fine for months...any solutions?
I have the exact same problem.
Been searching through this site to try and find an answer but still not come up with anything.
The wierd thing is that a couple of days ago it was working fine, and suddenly overnight it's stopped working.
The only solution i've found is that you need to have administrator rights as it says in the posts on the site below:

Noticed by the diagnostic in your post that you dont have admin rights like me so that mite be the problem. Not sure if this is the right solution though.

SmugMug Uploader has crippled Bridge; De/Reinstalling Doesn't Help
Hi - and help!!
I've used various version of File Manager/Bridge for about 4 years without much trouble, & currently have Photoshop CS3 on a MacBook Pro running Leopard. A few days ago I made the fateful & apparently lethal decision to install the SmugMug uploader. The result was that Bridge got infected with some evil bug that makes it crash within 20 seconds of being launched - every time. I de-installed & reinstalled Bridge - no help. I de-installed and re-installed Photoshop, Bridge and all components - two times. Didn't help. So - I basically now have a computer that is specially configured to run any software that's loaded on it EXCEPT Bridge.
The SmugMug people say that Adobe actually wrote & support the SmugMug uploader - very bad for SM's branding because it's obviously very flawed, and has the SM name all over it! But I don't really care who wrote the code - I just want it off, off, off my system. Can anyone help? I've been using Macs for 25 years now (literally!) and have been a heavy Internet/WWW user since 1994 and never had anything remotely this destructive happen to me (which I guess makes me lucky! But I still want it to stop...!

Here's the paths for the Mac on 10.5 (Leopard). I don't have 10.4 (Tiger) in front of me to check for differences. I didn't work on any Online Services testing so I can't confirm this solution, but it seems a reasonable try (thanks for the post!). Save the .dat files somewhere locally first, instead of deleting them just in case.
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Online Services/Adobe Creative Suite 3.0/cache
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Online Services/Adobe Creative Suite 3.0/clients/Adobe Creative Suite 3.0/sessions
So:
1) Using Bridge or Finder create a new folder for storing the suspect .dat files
2) with a new window, browse to the directories list above
3) move the .dat files to the folder created in step 1)
4) quit and relaunch Bridge

One of two files is corrupted. I don't know which it is, but the system rebuilds them the next time you upload and everything is fine.

4) You should find one or more files with the extension .dat in this folder. Delete them.
5) Navigate further down the tree to "Adobe", "Online Services", "Adobe Creative Suite 3.0", "Clients", "Adobe Creative Suite", and then "sessions"
6) Once again, you will find one or more .dat files. Delete them.
Close and restart Bridge, making sure that you have "Photoshop Services" checked in the startup preferences.
You probably will have to let bridge rediscover the online services, but once that is done, you should be golden.

Safari can't open a site-connection to server error-help,
Hi, having problems opening one page. "Read", one page only. All other sites open fine. When I try to connect to this site I get the error:
Safari can’t open the page “http://offres.neuf.fr/offres/internet/Nos-offres-ADSL.html?cmp=OF100” because it could not connect to the server “offres.neuf.fr”.
I used to be able to open this page fine. I tried it on another computer, no problem, and a response in another very long link indicated "he" could open it fine. Anybody have an idea why this page is being so stubborn and giving me this error? Thanks. Hope to hear a fix.

NO, You will not lose your Autofill preferences ( found in Safari's Preferences/Auto fill tab ) they are not affected if you empty cache and clear history.
"Reset Safari" would affect the user name & passwords stored in Autofill.

Please try the site In another account. If you do not have another account please create a test account:
Go to System Preferences/ Accounts/Login Options use the [+] to make one. you can later remove it with the [-] if you choose to.
Login into that account can you access the site there?
This helps to narrow down the problem, by showing us if it is a system wide issue or user name specific.

Error 23, 28, 29: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with the white USB Dock Connector cable that shipped with your device, on a known good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value, (00 499901 064000 0), can also confirm a hardware issue. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software can also cause these errors.

my itunes has gotten error 7 (windows error 14001) itunes wont even open it just says itunes was not installed correctly. someone help please

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I have installed the latest version of iTunes for Windows 8 but when I try to open it, it says Windows has an error and I simply can't open it any longer. Any help is appreciated!

my iphone 4s wont turn on with out being pluged in and when i unplug it it dies instantly i pluged it in put it in dfu mode and tried to restore it hoping it might help but its stuck in dfu and has restore error 21 help!!!

Wanted to sync up my new IPhone4, and thought that I should make sure I had the most up to date version of ITunes on my desktop first. Tried to get on site, and got an error message saying; "The folder ITunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder." Cannot get on ITunes at all now. Help! Thx.
In my case its a new computer the old one was stolen and the time machine disk did not work for a restore but did for copying the info to the new mac

I have been trying to uninstall several extensions for firefox. I'm told by the Add-Ons window that these extensions will be uninstalled when I restart firefox, but they come back every time I restart. I've tried clearing the extensions cache from my firefox profile and it does not work. Following the steps in all of the active questions regarding this issue among other users have yielded no results. Nothing currently on the help site (which I've combed through for the last three hours) has helped.
Most of the extensions I'm now trying to uninstall are old ones that stopped functioning/being compatible with one of the more recent updates of firefox. The rest are toolbars I've never used because they're unsightly and clutter up my screen
* What I wound up doing was installing the newest of the newest versions of firefox (it's at 5.0 or something now, I think).
