Help syncing iphone to new MacBook Pro

I got a MacBook Pro for Christmas, and I need help syncing my iPhone to it without losing my pictures, contacts, and music. I already wirelessly shared my iTunes library to from my old mac to the new one. Is there a way to sync my phone to the new computer and transfer my pictures and contacts and the rest of the stuff on my phone to it without losing it all? Or since I wirelessly shared my iTunes library, will my back up still be available?

There is no phone number for itunes store support.
Just copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.
You can also transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • I have Yahoo Mail synced on my new macbook pro. Keeps asking for password

I have Yahoo Mail synced on my new macbook pro. It it consistently asking to re-enter the password. Does anyone else have this problem? I have deleted it and reinstalled it several times. It did not do this on my previous macbook.

There are several similar reports on this site every day.
I've never used Yahoo mail and my knowledge of it is second-hand. This is what I've been able to gather.
If you have a free Yahoo account, POP access to incoming mail from a mail client such as Apple Mail is not supported. A free account is accessible only through IMAP (and then perhaps only on mobile devices — the documentation is unclear) or the web interface.
As for a paid Yahoo account, or an account through an ISP such as AT&T, you must enable POP access through the web interface. I've seen reports that you must periodically (every two weeks?) log in to the "Manage Account" page on the website to confirm your identity.
I've also seen reports that eliminating all UPPER CASE letters from the password, and shortening it to no more than 7 characters, may help. That's barely, if at all, adequate for security, and you must be sure to choose the password randomly. It should not be easy to type or remember.
That said, so many problems with Yahoo mail are reported that I can't recommend using Mail as a client for it. You might get better results with another mail client, such as Thunderbird. If not, just use the webmail interface. That's how it was designed to work. Better yet, don't use Yahoo at all.

  • Why won't my apple tv sync with my new macbook pro, they are both on the same wifi signal

why won't my apple tv sync with my new macbook pro, they are both on the same wifi signal.

Not sure of what? In your second response you said the issue was with airplay. You were also having issues connecting laptop to computer, which points to a laptop connectivity issue. I simply asked if home sharing was an issue as well, since that will confirm the laptop as the cause. Your response that home sharing is on doesn't really help since that doesn't itself have a bearing on airplay nor does it answer the question in regards to if home sharing is working on Apple TV
If you have a further question you will need to be specific.

  • Syncing ipad and iphone to new macbook pro

I have a pre-intel tower mac that the iphone and ipad are currently synced to.
I want to sync them both now to my new macbook pro. I am unsure about syncing in general as I haven't done it myself yet.
I'm a little worried about loosing data, and wondering what happens to the old tower they are currently synced with.. can I not longer sync them to it once they are synced to the MAcbook pro?
    any tips will be helpful.

Connect to the MacBook. It will ask you if you want to sync with the MacBook. It should then ask if you want to save what is on the iPad. Tell it yes, and it should do so. You should have your iPad apps backed up anyway, but I am pretty sure that you do not lose anything by transferring to another machine. The iPad does not care if it was a Mac or PC that it is synced with, it is not in either format. You do need to go and authorize your Macbook on your iTunes account.
Besides there is a step by step instruction on [How to transfer or sync iPad contents to Mac|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_sync_iPad_contents_toMac].
Hope it can do you a favor.

  • Synced iphone with my macbook pro, can find the voice memos, help!!

i synced my iphone with my macbook pro, checked the voice memos option and after syncing was complete (it backed up iphone in the process), i didn't see any new playlist called voice memos on my itunes!! did i lose my voice memos? where did they go? i didn't delete anything from either the phone or the computer.TIA!! on the phone, i don't see the memos too!! anyone has any idea?

iTunes automatically syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos application until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the iPod application on iPhone using the Music pane in iTunes.
To Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPhone:
    1. Connect iPhone to your computer.
    2. In iTunes, select iPhone in the sidebar.
    3. Select the Music tab.
    4. Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.

  • Syncing multiple iPhones to new macbook pro

My wife and I both have iPhones which we sync to our work computers. We have both purchased different apps, and music, but also have a lot of the same music in each of our iTunes. I just bought a new macbook pro – which we are both going to sync to from now on – What's the best way to do this?
If i set up 2 user accts, do we have to duplicate all of our shared music in both accounts? I dont want to lose any paid apps or music.

    Hi Dan,
Its just a matter of preference.
You can create a single user account and sync specific playlists from iTunes, groups from Address Book, and certain calendars from iCal to the specific iPhone. You can also create another user account and sync all music and video from iTunes, along with all contacts and calendars.
The iPhone can sync and merge contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes on multiple computers and user accounts, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
If you decide to create separate user accounts, this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203 will walk you through sharing your music between different user accounts on the same computer.

  • How do I get my old iphone to sync with my new Macbook Pro?

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and was able to get all my files and such from my old computer, which was a Macbook about 4 years old. But the problem now is that when I plug in my iphone to the new computer it will not recognize the phone in my itunes. I authorized the computer for my itunes account and everything is updated I'm pretty sure... so how can I get my new computer to "accept" my iphone?

  • How do I sync iPhone to new Macbook without losing data?

Been searching the internet for several weeks now, and haven't managed to find anything that helps, so here's the deal: I've had an iPhone 4 for a bout a year or so now, and I just got a new Macbook Pro a few weeks ago. I had previously been syncing my iPhone to a shared computer, so obviously I couldn't just set up my new computer using the data of the old one. I wasn't too concerned about this, until I discovered that I couldn't sync my iPhone to the new computer without losing all of the data on it! So I'm trying to figure out how I can save my iPhone's data in such a way that I can restore it upon syncing to the new computer. To clarify, I don't need to save all of the data—I've already gotten my purchases and music transferred over, and I'm in the process of transferring my contacts and notes over, but I have no way of saving the other data. Most of it is superfluous, such as call records or web history—but I do care about game data and iMessage data. So it comes down to this: I need a way to be able to store save files for all my games AND all of the text messages in my iMessage app. I've seen lots of people recommend various file transfer programs, which I assume work for game data, but as far as I've been able to tell from the demos versions, all they'll do for iMessage is export conversations as pdf or text files. I'm not looking to save a hard copy of my text messages, I want to be able to upload them to my iPhone again as text messages (both sent and received). In other words, I'd like my phone to be pretty much exactly the same after syncing it as it is now. At least, as far as the iMessage/game apps are concerned. Maybe I didn't know how to use the file transfer programs, maybe I didn't download the right one, maybe there's another way to do it, I don't know. If anyone can help me solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
BTW, My iPhone is running iOS 7.1.2, my Macbook is running OSX 10.9.4. Also, I do still have access to the computer my iPhone is currently synced to, as well as an iPod Touch 4 that's also got most of the data I want on it, if that will help at all.

So, just in case anyone with the same problem happens to run into this post, I managed to find a solution to this problem. There's a $35 program called iBackupbot, which works for both Windows and Macintosh. It's basically an iTunes backup service, except that it functions independently. You can also do partial restores with the program. Anyway, it's a very useful program, and it can sync data from one device synced to one computer to another device synced to another computer (or to a restored device synced to a new computer). If you're willing to shell out $35 for the program, here are the steps to restore your iPhone's data:
Transfer all of your purchases from your old computer to your new computer, including music and videos. This program is good, but it only syncs data files, so music and apps cannot be synced over (that I can tell).
Download and register iBackupbot on your NEW computer (http://www.icopybot.com/buy.htm)
    Plug in your iPhone
When you iPhone appears in iBackupbot, click on its name and then click 'backup now' on the information screen. It will take at least five minutes.Once the backup is complete, you might want to test it out. I'd recommend deleting a few pictures or messages, and then restoring from a backup, to ensure that the backup worked properly.
Quit iBackupbot. (It's a good program, but I've noticed that it's kind of glitchy, and it works best on the first action of each session)
Wipe your iPhone and set it up as a new one. Make sure you link it to the same Apple ID that your new computer is associated with.
Once your iPhone has been set up, sync it to your new computer and re-download all of your music, apps, and other purchases.
Change your iPhone's name (this is to check and make sure that iBackupbot recognizes your iPhone)
Reopen iBackupbot, and click on your iPhone's name when it appears.
Right-click the name and select 'restore from backup.'
Leave the settings alone, and check 'full restore'
This will take quite a while, and your iPhone will probably be glitchy when the restore is finished. Quit iBackupbot again, and then power your iPhone off and then back on.
Check all of your apps (including the system apps) to make sure that all of your desired data has been put back on your iPhone. For me, out of about 70 downloaded apps, 4 did not have any data when I had finished the restore. If this is the case, you can can try another full restore or do a partial restore this time, selecting only the apps that did not have data.
Once you're satisfied that your iPhone has all of the data you want, sync it to you computer to make sure that it will still sync to your new computer (you never know)
Change your iPhone's name to what you want it to be, then reopen iBackupbot.
Do a final backup of your iPhone in iBackupbot.
Sync your iPhone with your new computer one last time, and do a backup of it using iTunes.
    You're done!
I hope this helps. Good luck to anyone who decides to try this method!

  • Sync iphone with new macbook

I've had an iphone for a while now....no issues.  I've always synced it with my iMac....no issues.  Just bought a new Macbook Pro.  Instead of syncing my iphone with the iMac, I ONLY want to sync with the new Macbook.  I just want my itunes, photos and contacts backed-up on the new Macbook.  I've been all over the web, searching for an easy solution.  I tried migration assistant, that created a second home folder on my Macbook using all of the old stuff on the iMac.  Should I buy a software program for Mac to make this easy?  I'm not a go into the sub, sub, home, sub-folder and delete this or that kind of guy.  I could be with SPECIFIC instructions as to how to go about it, but too many sites speak a language I don't.  Any help would be appreciated for the semi-computer challenged.  Thank you.

All you need to do is move all the contents of your iTunes folder on your iMac, to the empty iTunes folder on your MacBook pro to get your iTunes media synched.
For photos, replace the empty iPhoto library on your MacBook Pro with your old iPhoto library from your iMac.
For your contacts, create a "dummy" in Address Book on your MacBook Pro.  You will be prompted to "merge" the contacts on your phone and from Address Book when you first synch.

  • Sync iphone with new macbook without erasing info - don´t have backup

    Hello everybody,
although I have googeled and searched in this forum I couldn´t quite find the exact answer to my problem:
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago my Windows PC went kaput. Fortunately, I bought a new Macbook Pro which is awesome.
Buuut I cannot find a possibility to sync my iphone 3gs with my new mac without losing all the information on it. I do not have a backup for the iphone on an external hard disk.
    What can I do??
Thanks in advance for you help!
    Mike

Without a backup for your iTunes library that was on your PC and for any photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your PC, transferring any iTunes content and photos from your new Mac or from any new computer will erase all iTunes content and photos from your iPhone that were transferred from your old PC. Not all information on your iPhone will be erased when doing so, just iTunes content and photos that were transferred from your PC.
Just one reason why including your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data is a good idea.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendar events with iCal on your Mac, enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal on your Mac. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.

  • IPhone with new MacBook Pro - phone not recognized by iTunes

So, I got a new MacBook Pro and connected my iPhone to sync it with iTunes. But the iPhone isn't being recognized.
Anyone know what steps to take to get it to recognize the phone to sync? There are no error messages. Just a phone that doesn't seem to want to sync.
I checked the phone by plugging it into another lap top, and it gets recognized right away, so I'm thinking it's related to the latest iTunes or the MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

Went to the Genius Bar, The tech decised it was a bad logic board. I got a new computer to replace a week old one. After going through setting it up again, I have the same issue. System Profiler sees that an iPhone is connected, but not iTunes. I can not sync to the new MBP. At the moment, I am syncing to my old MBP, just so I have the iPhone set up as I had it.
BTW, if you go through the "iTunes does not see iPhone" suggestions and enter DFU (restore mode) your iPhone gets bricked. But it is recoverable by using a different computer. I am currently trying a NEW install of the OS on the i7, but I suspect a hardware/driver interaction problem. I have no hopes until 10.6.4 arrives in a month or so.

  • Trouble moving iPhone to new MacBook Pro

    Hi everyone,
I have recently bought my first Apple computer - a new MacBook Pro. I moved my iPhone from my old PC by copying the 'itunes' folder from it onto the new MacBook Pro (and de-authorising old PC).
But I am having a few problems - most importantly, my iPhone isn't installing updates to apps properly. What happens is I hit 'install' and it begins to install. But then it doesn't complete the install. It says something about not having the app on the phone. So I have turned it off and on again and found that the app will then appear on the screen but not in the folder it used to be in - not sure whether it has updated or not...
Sorry if that's not very clear. Would be very grateful for any help or advice...
    Thanks,
    Nick
