Help - Templates are not displaying in English

For some reason, the templates in Pages (as well as in iWeb) are not displaying in English -- although that's my default language on my MacBook. I would think this is something easy to fix, but I must just be overlooking something. (MS Word displays its templates in English).
Can someone please help -- it is a bit annoying that the templates are displaying in a different language. Thanks.

iWork uses a "filler" text known as Greeking to let you see how the templates look with text without having text that would distract you from the layout. This is a fairly common question, so DennisG wrote a user tip about it - Placeholder text in a foreign language.

Help topics are not displaying when using Windows 7 / IE 9 / RH10

We recently upgraded our library from RH8 to RH10. Also used a trial version of RH9 in this process. Now when we compile several of the projects have issues where help topics do not display when selected in the TOC or when a link to the topic is clicked within another internal topic. It is in a continous loop in the browser (like it is trying to load). If you right-click on the topic it displays (we are currently using this as the work-around). Anyone else having this problem?? I saw something similiar for Windows8/IE10, but the fix does not apply here (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5138909#5138909#5138909).

I (April) apologize I have been OOO and have not been able to respond to your replies.
Let’s start over.
We have an issue where help topics do not display when selected in the TOC or when a link to the topic is clicked within another internal topic. It is in a continous loop in the browser (flickering like it is trying to load). If you right-click on the topic it displays (we are currently using this as the work-around).
We use Windows 7, IE9 and RH10 for all our projects. (Recently upgraded from RH8 to RH10)
Turns out the problem is not isolated. I have run across it in at least one other project, which leads me to think it also occurs in others.

          No. I it ALSO occurs when launched from the start page.
Have you tried deleting the CPD file and reopening Rh and the project?
          Yes, without success.
Are you using any redirects?
          Per (Adrienne), “I am not using any redirects. I encounter this issue only in IE. If I paste the .htm into a Firefox browser, the help displays as it should.”
          I will add that the project also displays incorrectly in Google Chrome.

The icons for the Personas Plus and Video Download Helper extensions are not displaying on a fresh install of Firefox 3.6.12

I had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of my up-t0-date Firefox due to another problem (it would only open one window), but after reinstalling my extensions, their icons were not displaying.
I uninstalled and reinstalled again, but the Personas Plus fox will not display in the status bar, and the Video Download Helper icon will not display in the Navigation toolbar, and is not available in the Customize Toolbars menu.
These extensions worked fine before. What's wrong now?

You need to set options in those add-ons and/or use Customize Toolbars. Always look at instructions on each add-on's page at https://addons.mozilla.org/ ,
-search for and locate the add-on,
-open the page for that add-on,
-review the information there,
-then visit and bookmark the developer's home page shown on the add-on page; many add-on developers also have a forum for questions, so look for a link on the developer's home page.
Most questions can be answered in one of those places.

Help topics are not displaying when using Windows 8/IE 10

I have a WebHelp system created in RoboHelp 7. When opening that Help from our application using Windows 8 with Internet Explorer 10 and allowing blocked content, the Help topics do not display in the right pane when clicking a topic from the Contents in the left pane. Below are the steps:
1. Open the Help system from the Help menu within the application.
2. The Allow Blocked Content displays and I allow it.
3. The Help opens and if I click a topic from the TOC in the left pane, the topic doesn't display in the right pane.
A workaround we found was to widen the left pane and the topic then displays. Also, if you don't allow blocked content, this issue doesn't happen. However, I need to allow blocked content in order for PDFs within the Help to open properly and also because the Search doesn't display without allowing blocked content.
We also tested this with a Help system that was created using Robohelp 9 and have the same issue. I'm wondering if RoboHelp 10 would solve this problem.
Does anyone know if IE 10 requires Help systems to be created in RoboHelp 10 to work properly, at least when allowing blocked content?

It seems to be time for the old divide and conquer approach.
Zip up the project so you have a copy that cannot accidentally be opened and worked on. That gives you a copy that you can safely revert to later if needed. Save the zip file somewhere safe.
Then create another copy of the project so that you have two copies that can be worked on.
Open Copy 1 and delete half the topics. Ignore any broken links reported. Generate the help from that copy.
Open Copy 2 and delete the other half of the topics. Generate the help from that copy.
It should be the case that one copy is now OK and one still has the problem.
Trash the good copy and then create a second copy of the copy with the problem.
Repeat the process until you have located whatever is causing the problem.
The process takes less time than you might think.

Letter Templates are not displayed in selection

Hi,
We have designed one web service with the business object type Business Activity. With this web service we are going to create the Document Template.
After creating web service log in to IC MANAGER role and go to Knowledge MAnagement -> document template create screen.
Select the File Type as Microdsoft Word , object type as Business Activity and Select the created web service from the search help.
Now click on Start Designer and go to the Word Editor and Give some text and save it. It will be saved in some place on application server.
Now Log in with the Util Ic Agent role and confirm business partner.
Go to the interaction Record work centre and create or select the existing Interaction Record.
Now click on LETTERS work centre and Click on the NEW button. One pop up will be displayed. In that pop up the Document which we created through IC Manager role should be available. It is not coming in my system.
Please let me know if any config is missing or any prerequisites required to do this. This help will be highly appreciated.

I created data elements and use them in a db table. I've added this data elements as parameters of a selection screen in a function group top include but when I test my function module with this selection screen I see only the field names and not my field captions of my data elements.
While editing report choose Goto->Text elements->Selection Texts-> select Dictionary checkebox next to your parameters ->activate. The caption will be used then.
And another question: I have defined and activated a search helper which I can call in my selection screen with F4 but I don't see the symbol behind the text-field. What is the reason?

Room Template's icons are not displaying

In Collaboration->collaboration content->Administration of Room part Templates,
The Room Template's icons are not displaying.
All icons are avilable in the folder
\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\config\cm\etc\public\mimes\images
i checked in both IE 6.0 and Netscape.
Please give some Hints about this.

I am not being critical, but you seem to want Safari to behave exactly like Chrome. Every software developer has a plan. Sometimes features in one product parallel other products - sometime not. There might be some things available that would help you. Do not hold your breath, however, for suggestions from people who use these forums. Most of us use (and like) Apple products. If you wish to make suggestions for future improvements, there is a feedback area on this web site that Apple employees read/review.
Candidly, your approach would be akin to suggesting that Apple emulate the "features" in Windows (heaven forbid).
I use Safari (and have for years). I use Firefox (not a bad product) as my alternate browser.
Sorry for what appears to be a pedantic lecture. However, I think most of us adapt to different products if we really want to use them.

Umlauts are not displayed correctly in different programs

I live in germany, but my locale is set to "en_US.UTF8" because I like to have everything in english.
I do not have any problems with umlauts on the machine, but when I connect with sFTP oder Samba to it, the umlauts in files are not displayed correctly.
Look at this example
The upper word is how it looks in "ssh putty" (=locally on the machine), the bottom one is from "filezilla" (from my windows host)

When I create a file "asd_aöü" locally on the machine (with the help of ssh - putty), it looks fine, but when I connect by samba or filezilla again the umlauts are not displayed correctly.
Do you understand my problem? What can I do?

Did you check the locale settings on your Windows machine?

Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks

Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks. The name looks like e.g. "??????? ???? cn.nytimes.com"
Chinese character of the site name is displayed ok in the head of the browser window and there is no problem reading chinese web content. I use Firefox Portable 11 /English from portableapps.com in Windows XP.
I googled and got some tips:
1) Set your browser to recognise Chinese language internet sites.
Windows users: Under "Tools - Options" on your browser's menu-bar add Chinese to the languages list.
- I did this.
2) Set your browser's "Character Set" or "Encoding" to UTF-8 (sometimes also called Universal Alphabet or Unicode).
Encoding settings can be changed under the "View" option in your browser's menu-bar.
- It was already set to UTF-8.
3) Windows users: If Chinese text still does not display correctly, East Asian language support may need to be enabled.
- This has been done when I installed Windows.
I still don't get any Chinese fonts in the bookmark names. I can edit the bookmark name with chinese characters and then save the bookmark, it works fine. But why does not Firefox recognize the characters when saving bookmarks? Help is appreciated.

No I didn't change anything deep beneath the hood. My problem didn't apply to the URL, but to the name of the link or bookmark header or whatever you would like to call it. (When hitting Ctrl + D there is a Name field). I only got ???????? instead of chinese characters in the name. Also for e.g. www.cntv.cn ...but maybe all China is not in the whitelist either. ;-) But anyway, this was not the real problem for me.
Apparently I was wrong as after a reboot of the computer it worked. The solution seemed to be to add Chinese to the language list. I don't know why it was not enough to restart Firefox?
Now I only have problems to show chinese characters in the name field of my external link manager... But I guess it is not an issue for Mozilla.

XML Template are not publish in EBS

I've create Invoice Voucher in BI Publisher and it's working fine in EBS. But I have to print this report from Invoice Workbench so I have done it by the help of Form Personalization but when I run this report from Invoice Workbench the template are not publishing its only generate XML.

Video chapters are not displayed anymore

Since a lot of weeks and many ios updates the video chapters are not displayed anymore. The thumbnails disappered and the chapetr names are gone.
Before ios 5 both did work.
Is there a solution?

Some PDF files are not displayed in Bridge

Hello,
here is the problem: I use Adobe Bridge CS2 to browse my large collection of PDF files, and unfortunately some files are not displayed in the Filmstrip View mode; instead a generic icon is shown (bridge1.png). Most PDF files, however, are displayed correctly (bridge2.png). Is this the problem of Bridge or of certain PDF files, and how should I fix them to make them being displayed by Bridge?

In fact, all files have similar type of content (research papers). However, I found out that all files which are not displayed are "protected" by the publisher such that they only can be viewed and printed, but not modified or disassembled. Apparently, this causes the problem with Bridge not displaying them. It's a pity that Bridge cannot handle them...
