You are never going to believe this.
Up to the last time I used my Windows 7 64 bit computer with Premiere Elements (about 1 am this morning), I was having no problem with the display.
Just now I went to do some troubleshooting with a .wmv file that I use all the time for mini test runs only to get 1/2 the display.
Windows Updates
and what was described as
Microsoft Windows
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2803821)
7/11/2013
was found and deleted and solved the problem. Apparently the KB number is different in Windows 7 than XP. In my Window 7 64 bit, the KB number to be deleted was KB2803821. In Windows XP, I was told it is KB2834904.

Trying to open Premiere elements 12 for the first time even though I had it loaded for a while.  It gives me a message that I need to be connected to the internet (which I am) or that my clock is off (it is correct).  Any suggestions?

First we need to check , whether the LAN settings is set to detect settings Automatically or not.
    Follow below steps .
1)Open Control Panel and then click on the option "Network and Internet" .
2)Click on Internet options, click on 'Connections' tab.
3)In the 'Connections' tab, select 'LAN' settings, you will be able to view the Local area network settings box.
4)Check the box-"Automatically Detect Settings" and then "uncheck" all the other check boxes like 'Use automatic configuration script', 'Use a proxy server' , Bypass proxy server' ,then click on ok button .
5)Click on "LAN settings" button again , make sure "Automatically Detect Settings" is the only option selected, keep the LAN properties window open.
Then launch Premiere Elements 12 and try to sign in.
If the settings were already set like that or you face same issue after signing in , let me know

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 installed?
How far into the opening of the program do you get? Do you get to the Expert or Quick workspaces?
And, if so, how long can you stay there? What are you doing when you get this message, opening a new project
or opening an existing one that has been saved/closed or just trying to launch the program from the desktop icon.
Are you running the program Run As Administrator and from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
Do you have the McAfee antivirus program? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
    with Premiere Elements 12?
What video card/graphics card does your computer use? Have you verified at the web site of the manufacturer of the
card that the video card/graphics card driver is up to date?
If you do not know, check the Device Manager/Display
Adapters to determine if you have 1 or 2 cards.
Depending on your answers, the next step will be
Uninstall the program the usual Control Panel way.
(If you can get into the program long enough to go to Help Menu/Sign Out, please do that to deactivate the program
before going to the uninstall in Control Panel area.)
Do a run through with ccleaner (both the regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from
    incomplete uninstalls and reinstalls.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewalls disabled.
(If you have McAfee as the antivirus, that may be problem, and we can take care of that without having to go
    through this uninstall/ccleaner/reinstall.)
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thank you.

Who installed this program for you - Adobe Tech or other?
If Adobe Tech, then please contact it via Adobe Chat or whatever contact information that you have for it in order to sort out the
details of "Downloading, Installing, and Setting Up"
    Contact Customer Care
Going that route may get you some remote control troubleshooting which is not available at this user to user forum.
Does your computer meet Premiere Elements 12 System Requirements?
Does the problem exist if you have the antivirus program disabled?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTIme installed?
Are you using a User Account with Administrative Privileges and working from application of Run As Administrator to
the Premiere Elements 12 desktop icon?
Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
You can try to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 12.0 Folder in which it exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole
12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden
Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
If none of that works, then it is time for a program deactivation if you can get into the program (Help Menu/Sign Out)..skip if you cannot
open a project, uninstall (control panel route), free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts), reinstall with
    antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

What is your computer operating system?
From where are you downloading Premiere Elements 13....direct from Adobe as the tryout or the purchased product? If the purchased product, do you now have a purchased serial number to go with the installation files?
Where are you stopped in the installation....at the Sign In or before? Is the faulting module cited in any messages? What are the error messages?
    The usual questions:
    1. Are you working with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    2. Are you running the computer programs as administrator?
    3. Are you working with a pen and tablet device instead of mouse?
    4. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
    5. Are you installing the program to the default location on the Local Disc C (if Windows).
Let us start here and then decide what next based on the details that you post. Subsequent troubleshooting may include:
deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and/or uninstall, free ccleaner run through, reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 11 in the 'minimize' state "tracks" when moved across screen...

I have finally found time to work on and to learn how to use my recently purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (APE11) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, using Adobe’s respective ‘Classroom In A Book’ training aid I recently purchased. To my disappointment when I open Adobe Premiere Elements 11 in the 'minimize' state it “tracks” when I try to move it across the screen, (see images), making it impossible and unacceptable to use. It only happens with APE11 and not with Photoshop, Premiere Organizer, MS Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc.), or any other programs on my computer. Also, the “tracking” doesn’t happen to a video within the APE11 video working space. I have installed this instance of APE11 twice to no avail using the Adobe defaults. See the added images for the current configuration of my PC and the APE11 version I have. I noticed in APE11’s Properties that I don’t have Compatibility checked-off because I never have had a previous version (see image). I do the Microsoft & Windows 7 updates regularly. This PC was purchased and configured to work on photo and video editing & manipulation, along with my everyday use. [Purchased on 2/22/13 from a reputable company Computer Links, Burlington, NC 27215, 336-226-4738 Invoice# 148599, (Technician: Matt). I am not a computer science person, which is why I relied on Matt to configure my PC. As this appears to be an AEP11 issue I am relying on you to resolve the issue verse Matt. Your support with this is much appreciated.
I had one person kindly suggest "Could you try to update your graphic card drivers, if they are not current"? If I knew how to & where located on PC I would consider it, however I would think it would be current as it was new when PC was purchase 2/22/13 and if it was out-of-date why wouldn't the other programs on the PC also 'track', such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, MS Ofiice Suite programs, etc.? (PS: I thought I posted this in the Adobe Premiere Elements area 5/19/13, apparently I posted it in the "Downloading, Installing, Setting Up" discussions area instead, & didn't see a way to move it?? I started in APE11 Area.)

    ATR and Reese,
It appears Matt solved my issue earlier today and I have been testing it without a failure.
Matt determined it was the Personailization "Themes" I was using. I had the Theme "Windows Classic" selected from the "Basic and High Contrast Themes..." group, and when he changed it to one of the "Aero Themes" the Adobe Premiere Elements "TRACKING" problem went away. He and I are not sure why it works by changing the theme, but it appears to. Using the Aero Theme continues toi allow me to use my own photos for "Desktop Background" and "Screen Saver".
The path to it is via the PC display by right clicking your mouse, select "Personalize", select one of the "Aero Themes" and go from there according to personal taste. See image below:
Note: Something for Adobe to consider going forward, if the above remains a solution. Matt says as I am using Windows 7 I have a selection between Themes, either "Windows Classic" from the "Basic and High Contrast Themes..." group or one of the "Aero Themes" (which resolved my Tracking problem), however Windows 8 did away with the "Aero Themes" and there isn't a choice then what? He isn't sure if there will be a tracking problem or not.
ATM any thoughts on why the above Themes setting would make a difference?
ATM thanks for all your help, along with Matt of Computer Links, Burlington, NC , 336-226-4738. I will update this posting as events occur, both good and bad.
    Cheers and Regards,

  • Can't open Premiere Elements 11 - 3ivx.dll error

I am using a Lenovo W510 laptop running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. I am trying to install Premiere Elements 11 for the first time and keep getting the error :  3ivx.dll missing -- reinstall the application.  and I have redownloaded and reinstalled Premiere Elements 11 three times and no change.  Please HELP!!!

    kasa155
Could you please confirm and clarify....
From what you wrote, it is my understanding that you cannot get into the Premiere Elements 11 on your Windows 7 32 bit, for that matter install it and that install failure is associated with the 3ivx.dll error message. Consequently it would appear that you do not have the opportunity to take advantage of any within any opened project perks. Is that correct?

  • Straight lines become zig-zag when viewed in Premiere Elements 11

I am sure there's an easy answer to my problem but I can't seem to locate it. I am new to video editing and Premiere Elements 11. I have a Sony HDR-CX200 that I use specifically to record tennis matches. I have a recorded a tennis match in 1080i at 60i fps that was transferred from the camcorder to my Window 7 computer using Sony's PlayMemories software which creates a .m2ts file. When I viewed the .m2ts video in both PlayMemories and Windows Media Player the video looked great. I want to be able to view the video in HD on both computer monitor and tv.
I imported the .m2ts file into Premiere Elements 11 using drag and drop. The file appeared to impotrt without any issue and the still pic looked good. However, when I pressed play the pic broke up. You can easily see this in the tennis lines which start out straight but when played they break into a zig-zag look. I have attached a short video that shows this problem. I want to be able to edit my tennis videos in Premiere because I've already just paid for it and it's suppose to be one of the best video editing programs out there.
I have looked over discussions of interlacing but don't understand why the pic only looks bad when played in Premiere Elements and looks good in Windows Media  Player and Sony's PlayMemories. I wonder if there is some setting I am overlooking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So far, this is a guess.
Viewing and playback of a video is a medium difficulty task for a computer.  Taking the same file into an editing situation is a high difficulty task.  Editing AVCHD video, is an extra high difficulty task for a computer.  It is doubtful you will work your computer harder doing anything else.
The real time preview in the monitor during editing can be improved with what is referred to as "real time rendering".  You know when it is necessary when a yellow colored bar shows up above the time line.  When you see it, press Enter and wait a bit.
Can you provide more information about the computer and how you got the short video to YouTube?  Also, how did you open the project?  And can you check what the project settings are?  The YouTube looks nothing like what I have uploaded using my two Sony camcorders.
I think this is fixable.  Lots of people get great results from PrE11.

  • Can't Open Premiere Elements Without Serial Code

I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements at Best Buy and then put the software on my MacBook Air that is owned by the school. Over the summer that school erased everything on the computer so now when I want to open Premiere Elements, it asked for the serial code, which I no longer have. Is there anything I can do? Or am I going to get robbed 100 bucks.

Loosing the registration code from any software is about the same as burning hundred dollar bills.  In this case a brand new copy of Premier Elements 13 is $60 for the DVD version.  B&H Photo Video
That said, depending on how you registered the software, you may be able to get help here:  What are my contact options?
Good luck.  Loosing your registration information frequently does not work out well.

I wouldn't think the graphic card would be out of date as it was part of the 2/22/13 PC purchase, however I don't know how to verify it using Windows 7 to be sure if it is or isn't. If it was the graphic's card, wouldn't the other programs, such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, the MS Office Suite Programs, etc., on the PC also 'track'?.

If Layers is greyed out it possibly means that you are in Quick Mode. Select 'Expert' and all the options should become available.
Try permanently associating psd files with C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and see if that fixes the issue. Instructions here - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/choose-programs-windows-uses-default.
