Why won't photoshop let me edit my photos I am a photographer and my photos need more editing but photoshop will open the tools but nothing happens with any of the tools!

Why won't photoshop let me save my images that I edit?

I have photoshop CS6 and am on a Mac. The photos that I am trying to edit are ones that I have taken and uploaded but everytime I try to save them after editing, I get this message, "the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file." Why? There is no other program using the file, I am the only one who has permission. I drag the lock icon into the trash but that doesn't do anything. How do I fix this?

Photoshop is just reporting an error that the OS returned.
Yes, there is a problem with permissions, or another application is using the file (which can include the Finder, due to some bugs in the Finder).
You will have to troubleshoot the directory to make sure you have permission to save there, and double check that no other application is using the file.

Why won't Photoshop let me enter my serial number?

I'm trying to register for my Photoshop CS4, but for some reason, it won't let me type in the serial code. What's wrong?

I just had a similar problem and phoned Adobe UK about it. I was actually trying to convert an already installed CS4 trial using my serial number, and just got a red cross after putting it in. I phoned Adobe UK and she said a common reason for this is installing with the wrong language. I hadn't paid attention to the language choice when I installed the trial, could have been American English, British english, International English.... Anyway when I gave her my serial number she said that I had to use International English. I uninstalled Photoshop, and reinstalled but using my original downloaded CS4. Although the file size and date of the installer is identical to the trial download it is possible there is language code buried in there. At the beginning of the reinstallation it asked for serial number which it accepted. I never actually got a chance to chose a Language.

Why won't photoshop let me save my actions

I'm wanting to know how to fix this issue? Each time I create actions it has the "Save Actions" selection grayed out. So every time photoshop decides to have a fit and kill on itself all my actions are wiped out then I have to recreate them, rinse and repeat. Help? How can I save them?

Never mind I found it out finally searching. If any one else wonders if you click an individual action and try it will gray out the save action button, you have to click the folder the action is in then click "save action". Something about not being able to save actions individually, but only in groups.

Why won't itunes let me "Edit" Preferences?

It all started because I needed to reset my preferences so that I would consolidate all my items in one folder and back up itunes.
I click on "Edit-Preferences" and itunes won't open the next box - crashes the program....restart over and over again...nothing...any ideas what caused this?

It is possible that you have a corrupt preference file. If you remove your preference files iTunes will create new ones with default values.

You found it in the right Library - Not the one on first window on Start-Up hard disk - but the one in Your User account. Hidden if You use Mac OS X.7
I've got plenty of room on my hard disk,
Only the Start-Up hard disk is of interest - my minimum is 25Gb free space
If You have any External Hard disk You use for VIDEO - It/they must be Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most other things but not for VIDEO - they breaks the video file beyond repair.
and I'm not sure how you run repair preferences.
Run Disk Util tool and to the left select Your hard disk - now under the big white area to the right You read
Control Permissions and Repair Permissions - AND Control and Repair Hard Disk
To do the last ones Your Mac need to be started from DVD or other hard disk. Can not do Brain Surgery on one self.
I'm not to sure about the corrupted movie project thing.
Start a new iMovie project (Plus sign under Project Library) and put in one clip at a time and see if all works OK - If it starts to ill behave then last included clip might be the problematic one.

Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?

I like to organise my iPhoto events in a certain way - events with family, events with various holidays, events with other interests, and these events grouped alphabetically together (eg brother, parents, sister,). But lately iPhoto has taken to telling me that there is a problem and "fixes" it ... and the problem seems to be that it wants to arrange these event folders somewhat chronologically. I can move them back into my organisation easily enough ... but why should I? How can I keep it to that arrangement?
I am using OSX Yosemite

iMac
iPhoto Version 9.6 910.29

You can sort Events manually:
If that doesn't work for you as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import a number of photos separately to create several Events and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Why won't Photoshop Elements 12 open?

After being away for 3 months, I attempted to open and use PSE 12 and it does not open. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that would help, but it doesn't. It appears as though it's going to open, but the little "streaming" just stops. Your assistance in resolving this problem is greatly appreciated.

I am not a technician so I can't go too deep in the analysis... I did all I could imagine to do, I would like that somebody from Adobe would take care of this issue finding solution to the problem.

Photos won't let me edit my photos. The adjustment controls black out when I click on "Edit".

deleting them may be what gave you the mess.. I am torn- if I give bad advice at this point, going into the realms o knowledge where I am a newcomer might get me yelled at.
If it were me, and I was impatient for a cure, I would open iPhoto, connect the memory, open two finder windows- and from the window showing the memory with the saved pics on the external, drag to the finder window showing iPhoto, the pieces you had deleted, and see if they can get back into place and act like they were never moved.
The only other thing I can think of would be make a back up of all of iPhoto, then delete it completely and download a replacment, and never mess with the library again. HOWEVER: I do not know if apple condones or allows that- so you maybe need to get to a genius appointment at an apple store near you, or try to do the phone help.
Like I said- I have seen many warnings to not mess with the memory of iPhoto.... I guess this is an example of WHY.
I apologize that I do not have an easy way out of your nightmare.

I recently deleted my iChat account and I do not want to use Bonjour List. I am on the administer account and there are no other accounts created on my computer. Parental controls are also not on. Why won'y iChat let me add a new account, I am trying to add my AIM account. If you could please help me.

Why won't Photoshop CC run on my laptop I just installed it today

Why won't Photoshop CC run on my laptop I just installed it today. I signed out on my desktop but the laptop still will not run Photoshop CC. It starts but then closes itself down immediately after starting.

Well it is the same Win7 that is running on my desktop and yes I have an internet connection and at that time is was hard wired not wireless. I just downloaded and installed the Photoshop and Bridge Apps. The laptop is about 2 yrs old and it is a high end machine and Photoshop6 runs on it just fine. I sure wish someone from Adobe would answer this question as it is beyond frustrating to me that this stuff works so poorly and you can never get a good answer out of them about anything ever.

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
