Help with choosing routers

I am designing a WAN for a small company. I am familiar with networking and basic cisco router configuration, however I have never attempted anything of this scope. My situation is as follows:
The company currently has one main office and two branch offices connected to to the main office with dedicated T1 lines. The main office has a cable internet connection and a VOIP telephone system in place. The goal is to share the internet connection and spread the VOIP system out to the branch offices. I would like to know if the following routers would do the job: A cisco 3725 at the main office configured with two T1 ports, an extra ethernet port for the phone system, and using the two built in ethernet ports for the broadband internet and LAN. And at each of the branch offices a 1721 with 1 T1 port, and extra ethernet port for the phone system, and using the built in ethernet port for the LAN. Each router would also have to act as a DHCP server. If these routers can do this, can they do it with the standard IOS that they ship with?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Is it also included on the 3725?
Also, are these the correct modules I should use in the routers:
3725
NM-2CE1T1-PRI (two T1 ports)
WIC-1ENET (extra ethernet port)
1721
WIC-1ENET (extra ethernet port)
WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 (T1 port)

    hey guys,
i need some help with choosing a right PSU for my gaming rig.  i plan on doing some overclocking for the first time, and from what i understand the regular no name PSU that came with my case just won't be enough.  so here is what i'm currently looking at:

my question is, is this a good PSU?  it's going for roughly $100 and i'm willing to pay around that much.  can someone tell me if this is a good choice, or any other recommendations? thanks in advance!
btw, my specs are below in my sig...

  • Help With Choosing The Technology

    Hello,
I need help in choosing the appropriate technology for the application that I'm going to be creating.
The characteristics of the system that have been decided until now:
Standalone app built on either Flex/Flash/AIR
Restricted to using the system on a single computer, hence can be a tightly coupled system
The server component of the system needs to be closed source and robust, for which im thinking something like a Java backend, etc, etc.
In a completely new environment, all that i need to be able to do is install just the AIR application and not worry about installing extra stuff for the server support.
Thanks In Advance for anyone who can help me out with this.

If you are saying you want the server component to be on the same machine as the Flex app, then your choices are severely limited due to the sandbox, unless of course you are using AIR, then you can just use the SQLite database.
But if there will be a sevrer component on another machine on the web, you could use BlazeDS, and like I said, its free and very robust.

  • Help with choosing the right specifications for a Macbook Pro Retina?

    Opinions needed....
So I'm new to Macs, but I know what I want to achieve and I feel this is the right route to choose. I'm looking at delving into the world of music production, using Logic pro 9 and garageband, but I also enjoy watching High definition Movies and televison so I know that the Retina display is definatley the right choice for me. However, I'm unsure on the amount of RAM & Which processer I should choose. I have read a fair bit on forums and online about the new retina macbooks being 'locked' from upgrading, so the 16GB of RAM is an immediate choice for logetivity.
The choice of processor is when I start to become clouded in my choice. As forementioned, I'm looking at running logic pro, as well as high def movies. There is also a possibilty at looking into photo and video editing, Whether that be in final cut pro or photoshop... But I want to leave my options open.
I think the choice of 16GB of RAM, 2.6Ghz processor, with a 256GB hard drive ( as i have 1.5TB external space) would be a good choice. Once I've added on applecare that comes out at around £2350, Which is a significant investment, but one that I think will help me immensely for the future. I am interested in other peoples opinions on my possible choice because, as I said before, I'm new to the world of Macs and making the right choice is essential. As a side note, the choice of upgrades also ensures a reasonable resale value, which is a bonus.
    Regards

Both power adapter I have are different (at the magnet end) from the one in link.
Earlier adapters have T shaped connectors, which Apple later changed to the L shape, presumably to make them more abuse-proof. Either one is fine and the one you are using will not damage your Mac.
Retina MBPs and new MBAs use a completely different MagSafe 2 connector which will not fit (without an adapter).

  • Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation

My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.

  • Making a website to help with choosing the colour of a bike - please help me :D

Hello I am trying to make a website where you can take
conponents of a bike and change their colour
there are about 17 conponents that I want to be able to
change the colour of e.g. frame colour and seat colour.
    and I want to have 10 - 20 colours
the number of combinations would be huge, so to have that
many pictures, with a link to each is probs not the best solution
    by far.
I was planning on having a more interaction site, where when
a colour or conponent is selected, it changes in front of you - any
ideas how I could do this?
prehaps a simple solution would be to have a range of
buttons, that when selected display a different coloured conponent
    - how do I make a button that when pressed reveals say a coloured
box and doesnt dissapear when the mouse is moved away from the
button - is this the hit feature? if so how do I make it work!?
    Any help would be fantastic
    Simon

    Simon :
The best way you can do it, is firs, to prepare several
colors of the same bike : you achieve this changing the
Hue/Saturation properties in photoshop, so you are going to create,
as an example, 7 different colors (the main colors) you have in
    stock.
Then you create independent Movieclips for each one, this
won't load too much your memory since you can make independent
SWF's which are going to be called on pressing the "color button"
using the "LoadMovie" actionscript property. Remember, when you
create the button, you just create small squares orange, blue, red,
yellow, green, etc etc.. so when you click on them, the color they
show is the color that will call the bike.
You have a good example here on using LoadMovie, there are
    even more googling around :
    http://www.cristalab.com/tutoriales/152/galeria-de-imagenes-en-flash-con-loadmovie.html
P.D.: There is another way, to try to apply colors with
Actionscript, but forget about it, because since the bike pictures
have shadows and shiny parts, this "filling color" way is not going
to fit well. I justed wanted to mention this, I wouldn't try this
    way...

  • Help with choosing product

I am currently looking to to expand the Internet in our building. We want to do this in both hard-wired and wireless capacities. I am looking at purchasing the WRV54G Router and have a question. The area in the building in question already has one hard-wired connection. This is what I would use to expand the capabilities in that area. Will the WRV54G Router still work, even if it is not directly connected to a Cable or DSL Modem, but only a network drop? Thanks for your help!

You would want a VPN endpoint to communicate securely over a public network (internet). VPN tunnel (requires 2 endpoints) is an encrypted form of communication between 2 networks/computers.
I would recommend WRT310N if you have no use for VPN, and it doesn't seem like a requirement for your needs. Once you add the router (whichever wireless you decide to go with) to the network, change it from gateway mode to router mode, and enable dynamic routing. If you have a static route, define it in routing section

  • Help with Multiple Routers on Network

    Hi All,
I was hoping someone could help me with an issue I'm having.
I live in a company provided 3 story house with 7 other co-workers and we have comcast cable internet. There is a linksys cable modem provided by comcast in the attic connected to an old crappy linksys WRT54GS router. They refuse to change and upgrade the router or even protect it. Currently it is set to all its default...default SSID no password, etc. I can't rock with that.
On the 2nd floor, I have a Linksys WRT54G router which I put the DD-WRT software on and have it setup as a Wireless Bridge connecting to the router upstairs and I have my computer, ps3, media player and network hard drive connected to it. At first I had an issue with the Network Hard Drive, which is a Netgear Stora, connecting to the internet. When I did a Port Fowarding Test on the Stora it came back with 0 out of 4 ports open and all were blocked. I tweaked the DD-WRT settings and fixed that.
Problem is, now my entire network is a "part" of that network and it is wide open, giving everyone access to my files. Also when I connect my wireless only devices, they have to connect to that router upstairs. Also, When other computers turn on I can see them in my media files which I don't want. I want to create a private network within that network so I can still have access to the internet but my devices will be isolated from theirs.
I found another router on sale, a Linksys WRT120N that I bought and connected to the DD-WRT router via the internet port in hopes that I would create my own private network with the WRT120N router and have the DD-WRT router simply serve as a bridge connecting the WRT120N internet WAN port wirelessly to the internet router upstairs as there is no physical way to connect the two.
So far it works, I can connect my devices wirelessly and wired to my router and they have access to the internet but the problem is my Stora network drive can't connect to the internet again. When I do a Port Fowarding Test on the Stora it comes back with 0 out of 4 ports open and all are blocked. Their tech team said it is a double-NAT scenario which I can't seem to fix.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on opening the ports of my stora so it can access the internet and still maintain my private network connecting wirelessly to the internet upstairs? Hopefully I gave enough information so you can understand the setup, the problem and the desired end solution. Thanks.

Dude you need to reconfigure the router that you setup as Wireless Bridge.
    Router 1: Leave them unprotected
Router 2: Connect Router 1 to Router 2's WAN PORT.
Configure a different set of IP address.192.168.2.1
Router 3: Throw it away.  You purchased a problem.

  • Help with choosing the right hardware

    Hello,
I would like to know what hardware sollutions from NI are best suited for my Master's degree project, which is a motorized crane for a video camera (basically a robotic arm with 5 axes). What I need is something to control my 5 motors (DC/stepper) - both in position and velocity and also need some Digital inputs available for different sensors. In my previous project, I have succesfully built a motorized slider for camera (only 3 axes - 2 rcservo for pan/tilt and a DC motor for translation which was controlled in position) and I used Arduino development board to control it, encountering difficulties for controlling my entire system. In this upgraded version of the crane, I thought that NI hardware are more reliable, and I want to find something to match my application requirements. I just need something to control my motors using Labview, as I will make my own drivers for them (also something affordable for a student as the motion control modules are way out my bugdet).
On the other hand, I would also like to control my system from a smartphone and I was wondering why Labview has implemented applications for Android and Apple, but not Windows Phone? Are there policy issues or just not yet implemented? If not, I would gladly develop an application for WindowsPhone8, as it would help me remotly control my crane.
    Thank you in advance,

    Hello Catalin,
There are a few options that are available for this application, I'll start with the simplest hardware with the most difficult software and then progress from there.
The simplest implementation that I can think of would be a high channel count digital I/O device, where you power a custom H-Bridge or similar motor driving circuit. Based on a 6 or 4 pole stepper motor this would translate to 20-30 digital channels. Something as small as a NI USB-6504 (24-ch, 8.5mA) would work with very low performance. This implementation would only have software timed digital output with a significant amount of jitter and variability, as well as the 8.5mA max current drive per channel which would require extremely high input impedance on the drive circuit.
The next step up in implementation would be a digital I/O device with Hardware timing such as a NI PCIe-6321 or a NI PCIe-6323. These cards will allow a buffered digital output which will significantly reduce jitter and increase the performance of this control.
Both of the above methods would require you to program the motion control for the stepper motors, and would also require an external drive for providing the power to the stepper. This could be something as simple as a custom built H-Bridge, a simple stepper motor driver such as this one available from sparkfun.com: Big Easy Driver.
The next option would be using the motion modules such as a NI 9501 or a system built by following the NI Stepper Motion System Selection Guide. This would be the most complicated hardware, however this would enable you to use the National Instruments SoftMotion Module for programming instead of writing all the code from scratch.
In regards to the implementation for LabVIEW implementation for Windows Phone, I am unsure of whether this will or will not be implemented. Please feel free to post your ideas on implementation on the NI Idea Exchange, and thanks for the feedback!
    Cheers,

  • Help with choosing Export quality CS4 souce sony handcam hybrid

I am having trouble getting a good quality once I export my sequence . I have tried different formats and none of them seem to be as good as the original source video.  I am using a sonyhandycam hybrid with the quality set at 9m HQ.  What would be a good project setting and a good formant and options to export for the best quality? I would like the best quality I can get for a DVD, I sometimes do some uploading to youtube so any tips on that would be good as well.  But my main focus is best quality for a DVD.
    Thank You!

Thank you for your advise but how can I get very good quality on DVD then.
as long as your project is <60min, iDVD will create best quality technically possible (=using the highest bit-rate, 9MBit/s) standards allow .
it is not a prob of the tool, but the standards. your source is 1920x1080, a DVD can contain only 720x480 ..
if you want 'higher' delivery-quality, consider BluRay (hmmm?) or a MediaPlayer (AppleTV, WD TV, PS3, .. )

I don't know if this is the correct forum but the topic is relevant to Flash.
I have a video business and my website has a lot of video examples.  I wanted to show some image quality as well as a decent frame size for viewing.
The video files were encoded in AME at vbr 775kbps (max of 1100kbps) with a frame size of 720x405
Do you think these bitrate settings are acceptable for internet speeds today?
    Thanks for your input.

    Thanks for your quick reply.
Could you explain download rate statistics?
Is this the rate that is recorded when people watch video over the internet?

  • Help with choosing a MacBook Air Model for a college student.

I am a college student and I am debating between the two 13 inch Mac AirBook models that Apple offers. I was wondering if someone can give me a breakdown of the differences and also, which model would be a better fit for a college student?

The two models are described here:
    MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) - Technical SpecificationsJun 10, 2013
Actually, there is only one model.  You can purchase it with 128GB or 256GB of storage.  But you can customize other features as well, such as the processor speed and the RAM size.
Asking which model is best for a college student is just like asking what type of car you should buy.  It's up to you.  In my opinion, if you're going to spend a bit of money to upgrade from the base model, the first place to upgrade would be the RAM size.
