Help with elements 11 on mac

im using a mac and elements 11 opens for about 2 seconds then goes away. its in the tool bar on top of the page but no way to edit or organize photots.  it's an MAC os x version 10.6.8.
everthing was working fine until recently with leads me to believe i accidently changed a setting on my mac. help please??

How are you starting PSE? The welcome screen, the editor, the organizer? If you were using the welcome screen, even the welcome screen set to open the editor or organizer automatically, don't. Go into the applications folder and launch the component you want from there, then go to the dock once it's running and choose Keep in Dock. Just don't use the welcome screen.
The organizer is easy to find, but the actual editor is hidden away in applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11>Support Files:

  • Help with Elements 12 and Print Studio

i have Elements 12 and cant get print studio supplied with my canon pixma pro 100 to install
    can any one help ??

You messaged me (but please reply to the forum as it will help others with the same problem):
"print studio just keeps saying its not compatible with elements 12 or vice versa??".
Go to Canon's web site and download the latest verson and see if that works. It installed for me OK (not that it worked, as I don't have a compatible printer).

  • Need help with elements 11

Using  Elements 11 video exported to dvd is distorted

    kco13
    Thanks for the follow up.
    Please clarify/verify the scenario.
    a. You produce a video in imovie in your Mac computer.
    b. That video gets imported into Premiere Elements 11...is that Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit or other Windows operating system OR is Premiere Elements 11 also on your Mac computer with imovie?
    c. This imovie video was taken to Premiere Elements 11 Windows or Mac for the burn to DVD (standard or widescreen?) where you obtained "fine" results.
Now here is where I am not sure of my interpretation of what you wrote
added a few more clips from imovie then exported back to p.e. then the isuses started..
From that I am assuming that the Premiere Elements 11 work is being done on some Windows operating system, presumed for now Windows 7 or 8 64 bit.
    a. What are the properties of the video that went into the successful Premiere Elements 11 DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc?
    b. What are the properties of the "more clips" that you added to the original Premiere Elements project?
    c. What Premiere Elements 11 project preset was set by you or the program for the Premiere Elements 11 project in use for this work? Please see Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size.
Comments about AVCHD to DVD-VIDEO on DVD are not applicable until we get details indicating that your video has AVCHD video compression. Right now, we do not know the properties of your source media (compressions nor file extension) nor other related details.
Sorry for all the questions. But the answer will be in the details. But, whatever the case, your project shows promise in that you do get good results before the "more clips".
Might I ask...if you are using Premiere Elements 11 Windows, why? Premiere Elements 11 Mac should do the job for you.
And Premiere Elements Mac is a 64 bit application when run on Mac 64 bit.
Please review and do not hesitate to let me know if I have misinterpreted any of what you have written.
Looking forward to working with you on this matter to a successful conclusion
    Thanks.

  • Please help with opening old mac AE file on a pc

    Hi,
With the latest version of AE on a pc I tried opening older mac version .aep file created I believe in 1999. I had very little hope so I wasn't surprised to see this message:
"After Effects error: this file was created with an older version of After Effects [3.0 (Macintosh PPC)], and can’t be opened. You can convert this file using an older version of After Effect and resaving."
It is not clear which version should be used, Pc or Mac, and if at the end that file could eventually be opened in thet latest AE on a pc.
I will greatly appreciate any help with this.

    Thanks Mylenium
Rebuilding is not an option. It is a lot of work and I need this as a portfolio item. I created a promotional interactive CD with Macromedia Director in 1999 for a sign company. I created 19 short animations for it with After Effects 3 using old PPC Mac.  I haven't used After effects since then but recently several new clients asked me if I can make animations from that nature. So, I'm trying to use my old work as a demonstration of my creative skills.  The problem is that the animations were rendered tiny with 309 x 228 pixels to fit in the interactive interface of the presentation intended for the small monitors used at that time. I took the animations from the interactive CD  and using the latest AE on a pc, I created a rough composition with running the animations one after another. To make the animations a bit larger I scaled most of them to 320 x 240 hoping it will look better.
In my archives I have the project files and all .ai vector graphics used for the animations. I still have the old PPC Mac retired somewhere in the closets and installer CD with After Effects 3 and 4. I thought it would be great if I can somehow open the files in the latest version on a pc but if not I guess I have to take out that old mac are render to higher resolution using this ancient machine and AE version. And I'm wondering if all this is worth it.
I will appreciate any tips, advices, things to be aware, etc, and how to make this looks better on YouTube.
Oh, and another question by the way, I haven't been current to the animation software for a long time and wonder if this kind of presentational animations are best suited for creating with Flash or After Effects is still OK?

  • Can you help with a TV / Mac mini configuration?

So.... the plan is to buy a new 32-40 inch TV for the bedroom upstairs. All of my TV cables and Internet stuff are at the basement. I am not planning to bring any cables upstairs (TV or Ethernet) so this is what I am thinking:
    - HDTV 32-40 inch
    - Powerline to bring network connectivity upstairs
    - Slingbox PRO-HD
    - Mac mini to use SlingPlayer, Hulu, iTunes, DVD Player etc. etc.
    - One of those Air Mice
These are the questions I have:
    1) The HDMI on the new Mac mini transfers sound as well as video. Correct? No need for extra adaptor?
    2) Can some suggest a good Air Mouse that works well with the new Mac mini?
    3) Anything I need to make sure the TV is capable in order to work well with the Mac mini (except of course for the HDMI port)? Resolution? Other ports? Options?
    4) Anyone with a similar configuration? Any issues that you might see with this configuration?
    Thanks

I cannot answer any of your other questions, but, yes, the Mid 2010 Mac mini carries both a digital audio and video signal from the HDMI port.
Sorry, what is an air mouse?

  • Help with a new Mac user

    Hi,
New to MAC. Is there a way to do a restore to out of box set up? I also need to find a local group to go to to help learn about the Mac G4. Want to learn more about how to use the software. It is 9.2 os.

derftl, welcome to Apple Discussions & the Mac community.
You can download a PDF copy of your Mac's user manual at this link.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50018
I doubt that you will find an OS 9 manual in any computer store. You might find a copy by doing a Google web search, or possibly in a used book store. Also, suggest you join LEM-Swap for buying & selling Mac stuff. http://groups.google.com/group/lemswap
After you join, post a WTB (want to buy). Ask for a book on using OS 9.

  • Help with elements 7 please

I have uninstalled my photoshop and installed elements 7 on my laptop. I have kept the full photoshop on my main pc. When I imported my photos from my camera via a card reader I could see the images and could choose which ones I wanted to edit first. I shoot in RAW format only. Now with elements 7 I import in the same way but the all I have for the icon for pse (blue background with pse written on it) I have to open the photo in elements to acyually see which one is which. Its so annoying when you just want to find one particular photo to edit but you have to trawl through maybe 200 to find it opening each one. Before I could open the folder that the raw images were in a actually see which one I wanted to edit and change to a jpeg.

    > When I imported my photos from my camera via a card reader I could see the images and could choose which ones I wanted to edit first.
I suppose that means you could view the thumbnails in Windows.  You have a few options.  If you are on Win XP you can download and install the ArcSoft RAW thumbnail viewer (http://www.arcsoft.com/products/rawviewer/).  Otherwise download and install either IrfanView or FastStone and use their respective thumbnail viewer.

  • Perspective Control with Elements 6 (Mac)

Since I changed to a Mac a few years back I have been using Photoshop Elements. What had been a very simple process in CS3 with Windows completely eludes me in Elements. In CS3 if I had a tall building with converging verticals I selected the image and dragged the two anchor points along the top together to do a simple correction. Press return and the job was done. Am I missing something blindingly obvious? Help please.

    Barbara
Thank you for your suggestion which I found very helpful. I must admit however that it lacks the simplicity and speed of use of the Windows CS3 Crop/Perspective tool. In the process however I have discovered Elements features of which I was unaware and will be useful in the future. Once again many thanks to yourself and also Terri. Regards - Victor

  • Help with purchasing new Mac Book Pro- 2014 release vs. 2013?

OK, so my 15" 2008 Mac Book Pro is on its last gasp--didn't help when I dropped it while open (I can now see into its innards though it's still working...sort of).
I'm not a technophile (mainly use my laptop for writing--my profession--and eBay business) so my sister told me to make sure that I had at least 8 GB and a fast processing speed. Retina display not necessary (her graphic artists friends hate it apparently) so that would lower the price; however it seems that there are two releases: Oct 2013 and July 2014.  Read up on the latest release but not sure how much is necessary for to have...or care about.
Can you all weigh in and tell me (a) how important it is to have "the latest and greatest" and (b) how necessary is Retina display and (c) which would YOU purchase if you had my budget constraints.  Thanks!
Anyway, I've narrowed down my choices of MacBook Pro purchases to what was within my budget: $1300 including tax.  I wanted a 15" but it was too much $$$$, plus I can just use an external monitor.
Both are available at Apple. Both come with 1 year and 3-year extended warranties and both have the standard software installed, including Pages.
One more thing....Wondering if having Flash Storage is important?  Only refurbished one (see below) has it.
Prices for both end up being almost the same--around $1250 out the door, including tax.
OPTION #1  NEW LAPTOP. July 2014 Release   NON RETINA DISPLAY
2.5GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
    4GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x2GB - NOTE: I WOULD HAVE THIS UPGRADED TO 8 MG
    500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
    Accessory Kit
OPTION #2   REFURBISHED  -Oct. 14 Release - RETINA DISPLAY
13.3-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2560-by-1600 resolution at 227 pixels per inch
    8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
    256GB Flash Storage1
    720p FaceTime HD camera
    Intel Iris Graphics

Hmm... I'm not really sure where you found a July 2014 release without a retina display. I think it might be the old version because that laptop was last updated in 2012 (to my understanding. Also, your sister is kind of wrong, if you want a computer that will work well for everyday things, 4gb of ram is just fine. I have a three year old MacBook Air with 4gb of ram and do things in Photoshop, Illustrator, Pixelmator, FCP, etc. all the time running OS X Yosemite and it runs like brand new. However, if you want to future proof it, you might want 8gb so it can always run the latest OSes.
Flash Storage is amazingly fast compared to a Hard Drive. It also has no moving parts, therefore is much more durable, and much more likely to survive a drop than a Hard Drive (which would seem to be useful in your situation).
Also, I don't know why your sister's friends would hate the Retina display. Many people love it because it gives them the ability to edit pixel by pixel with perfect accuracy.
I would go for the Retina display. It has better specs for the same price so why not? Not to mention that it's much faster and will likely receive updates much longer than the new MacBook Pro without Retina display.
    I hope I helped.

  • Need help with a dead Mac Air

So taking a long shot here. I was on my friends Macbook Air last night and it will not start at all. The Mac starts but doesnt go past the apple icon and a spinning gear icon like something is happening in the backround. Have kept it on for hours nothing happens.
Have tried all possible combinations of booting it like SMC reset, Boot in Safe Mode but nothing seems to work.
Is there any way to boot it from a USB or something?
Unfortunately since it wont start i cannot post the exact configuration.
Any sort of help will be appreciated.
Also if there is a way to restore it will be great..

If you have a boot drive on an external HDD with a compatible OS  you may be able to start the MBA.
I do think that the best option is to take the MBA to a repair facility for a diagnosis and repair.
    Ciao.

  • Where can I get help with Office for Mac

    Hi everyone,
I use Microsoft Office for Windows at work, and often go to one of the groups at msnews.microsoft.com to ask questions and get help. I would like to be able to check from home to see if anyone has answered my questions, but I can't figure out how to access this from my Mac. Do I need special software for this? At work I use Outlook Express. What should I use from my Mac?
    Thank you,
    Rob

Many of those groups can also be accessed on the web with any web browser via http://groups.google.com/
There are several NNTP news readers like Newswatcher and MT Newswatcher on http://www.versiontracker.com/ and http://www.macupdate.com/ which tie into that newsgroup protocol if your internet service provider supports it.
