when i turn on my ipod mini it shows a blank screen but when i hold down the menu botton to turn on my bank light it comes up

Hi dreamseller, welcome to the HP Forums. There are many causes for low brightness. My main concern would be the physical component of having to tilt it in just the right way to get a display at all. This would seem like there is a short in the cable internally, or an issue with the LCD itself. Regardless, since there are many causes, I have provided many documents, one of which may hopefully recitify and remove the need to hold a flashlight to see what you are doing.

Need help with full screen slideshow image quality
I am looking to display some images with full screen slideshow. The images I add are very large, over 5000 wide. When I publish the site some images retain their quality while others lose it and look like crap. Why would this be and how can I fix it. I tried to resize them to the 2560x1707 that muse does, and then add them. This doesn't change the end result of poor quality.
Go to Assets Panel and locate the image you want to use at original size. Right click the image and chose 'Import Larger Size'.
See if that helps retain quality for that image, since Muse does not resize/interpolate that image for you.

Mac user needs help with photoshop screen and tool bar
Hello when I open photoshop I get the screen you can see to the left. The right hand tool bar has disapeard, if you scroll across it comes into view, I want to be able to open photoshop as I could originally with the screen the size of the computer screen and the tool bar in place. What is also happening is that when I select the image i want, the image goes directly on to the screen and does not go to the tool bar above, again I would like to have the images going to the tool bar so I can select them and put them on a blank page. The same happens when I open up a blank page it does not store it in the tool bar but opens it up directly on to sreen. Hope you can help.
Thanks also tried that it does hangs the screen back to how it was but the background is now my screen saver with the photoshop tool bars around. But the docking area is still not visible and when I open a file it opens it as sep screen and layer and not as part of docking station? Very strange

Help with T430 screen resolution
I would like to purchase a T430 with 1600x900 screen resolution as recommended in the reviews. However, I am concerned about whether I will be able to read text at that resolution. (This was an issue with the higher resolution when I purchased my beloved T400.) I cannot find a T430 in my area to look at before purchase. So, I am wondering whether some kind soul might be willing to post a screenshot of the desktop (with icons on it) of their T430 1600x900. Viewed at the original size, I should be able to determine from that image whether it will be legible, right?

I didn't say a ThinkPad. Any computer with a 14" screen running 1600x900 natively will give you some idea if that resolution is going to be acceptable.
If the closest computer store is 3 hours, it probably isn't worth doing. 6 hours round trip is a lot of time and hassle. -

In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
2. Copy any and all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
3. Upload the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Preferred sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers, download managers, etc.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best
choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps are much larger in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:

After doing that, to learn how to share the link to the file if you are unaware, please visit the following link -
Share files and folders and change permissions and view 'Get a link'.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUpUtilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use. With this said, if you've run such software, you will need to allow the system to crash once again to generate a crash dump.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all
drives'.
3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system
log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.

I am writing a turn based strategy game in Java but I am unable to make a scrolling screen you can "move" your view of the game board around in.
I can do every other aspect of the game myself, except for this.

So on sunday, i was talking to a friend on the phone, and being a clumsy idiot, tripped on a crack in the pavement that was like 5 inches tall. i ended up accidentally throwing my phone, and when i got it, it looked like this (will get links to pics in a bit!) it works perfectly though! i can text, make calls, even the places where the glass cracked originally work fine. but i want to get the glass replaced! ive seen on ebay that you can buy replacement glass, but i DO NOT want to open up this phone!! does anybody know if apple will cover it? i checked and it said my phone was not insured, but i still have apple complimentary service that expires in jan 25, 2010. will this complimentary service cover it? and if not, then how much would it cost? and is there a way to replace this myself without opening the phone, or taking it to a repair company and paying 250$ or more? Help with Sharing Screen Many Miles Away

To give a background. My Dad is disabled and struggles to use his computer sometimes. He has a 2008 iMac running 10.5 and I live in Australia. I am wondering is there anyway that when his computer plays up and needs a setting fixing that I can control from across here to do the job.
I am on an iMac across here on 10.6.7 any help that could help our situation would be grateful.
OllyAs mentioned, there is iChat screen sharing. You can use MobileMe accounts, OR you can use free AOL Instant Messenger accounts <http://aim.com>. You do not need the AIM software, just the accounts. I think you might even be able to use a Google gTalk account. To make it easy you setup the accounts for you Father, and then talk him through adding the account to iChat.
You could get a MobileMe subscription for yourself, then register both your Father's and your Mac(s) to your account, then you can use Back-to-My-Mac which will allow regular Mac OS X Screen Sharing and File Sharing over an encrypted connection.
You can also try TeamViewer.com. It works very well.
There is also LogMeIn.com.
LogMeIn.com has the advantage that once the server is installed on your Father's Mac, it runs in the background and you can connect without needing him to be there. TeamViewer.com is just another running app, and as such he might not always run it, or might quit from it.
On the other hand, TeamViewer.com allows file transfer, but LogMeIn.com requires an upgrade to the paid version to get file transfer. You could always use DropBox.com for any files you want to transfer. By the way, iChat does allow transferring files as well.

And then there is the hard way Configuring your Father's home router to port forward ports 5900 and port 548 <http://portforward.com>, getting a free dynamic DNS name from No-IP.com or DynDNS.org, running the dynamic DNS name updating utility on your Father's Mac (all the time), then connecting directly with Mac OS X Screen Sharing and File Sharing. NOTE: The Screen Sharing client does have preferences to encrypt all network traffic, and is a good idea when going across the internet, HOWEVER, File Sharing does not. If you want secure file sharing in this configuration, you would need to play other more complex games involving ssh tunnels. I listed this last as it is only a good idea if you are network savvy and familiar with ssh, otherwise I would suggest one of the more user friendly methods mentioned above. -

I have some problem at the variable screen. When I click the possible entries for 0calmonth in the query selection screen and I could not able to see the possible entries. The screen comes blank. When I check for 0calday and ocalweek i get the possible entries.
I have checked the data inside the infoprovider and the data is available in it. I have tried activating the 0calmonth again. I have tried all the possible options. Please help as it is very urgent.

Probably for the selections given while entering the query, the 0calmonth might not have been present.
Check in the infoprovider with the same selection parameters you are initialling giving while running the query and c whether the calmonth is there or not?
Also once check infoprovder whether the 0calmonth is updating r not

pleas help - new at this - downloaded garage band and accidentally enlarge screen and cannot reduce it now - it affects main screen also. shutting it off doesn't help

Need help with Leopard: screen saver glitch and very slow internet
I performed an erase and install leopard 10.5.1 on my upgraded G4 AGP Sawtooth Computer several times. Has anyone had the following 2 problems with leopard and any suggestions to solve them? Apple telephone support has not helped thus far. The Issues include:
1-Internet surfing (Safari and Firefox) is extremely slow worse than dial-up. I have verizon fios. Upgrading leopard to 10.5.3 and upgrading Safari did not help and took about 10 hours to download when it should have been quick.
2- A screen saver glitch: When I click on screen saver such as beach I get this message. " Screen saver "beach" did not load properly. Error Can't load bundle" When I click on the screen savers folder, there is nothing in it. Desktop pictures work fine.
Computer upgrades include:
Processor-OWC Mercury Extreme [email protected] 2MB L3 Cache
2GB memory
Two 120GB hardrives.
Firmware is updated.
Thus far, all this was done:
Apple exchanged install disk. Same results with new disk.
I ran disk utility and everything is ok including permissions.
I performed a safe boot with apple support.
I Threw away cache folder and com.apple.safari.plist
Tried firefox with same very slow surfing results.
I even checked file system structure problem fsck -yf. Everything was ok
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.Althought the behavior is the same in all three accounts, if all are working accounts I would suspect there is something all of them have installed that could be the source of the problem. Try creating a new admin account, and leave it just the way Apple creates it--don't add anything nor modify it in any way. Log into that account and see if it works correctly.
If that account is also misbehaving, try restarting, and when you hear the chime hold down the Shift key so that you boot into Safe Mode (you'll see a notice in the splash screen about being in Safe Mode). The boot will take longer (perhaps even considerably longer) as the system runs disk repair, empties some caches, disables all third party startup items, as well as all Apple startup items not strictly necessary for the machine to run. See the menus and Dock now behave correctly.
Since the problem is evidently somewhat intermittent in nature it may take some patience to discover what is wrong. You might also disconnect everything that didn't come with the Mac, reboot, and use only the Apple keyboard and Apple mouse and run for a bit to see how that works. If you are using a third party mouse that required installing something that would be my guess as a "prime suspect" for the cause of the problems.

I am wondering if all I need to order is a new laptop screen or if I will need anything else replaced. I'm not sure what all comes when you order a new laptop screen like if its just the outer glass or full screen assembly. I will try to give as much detail as I can. I was also wondering if anyone knows of a good site for screens that has a good reputation and pricing?
I have a Lenovo B570 Model: 1068-AFU Laptop. My son was using it and he closed the screen with a pencil (or something) laying on the keyboard. He then decided to lay his book(s) on top of it. When he opened it the next day and turned it on the screen was all messed up. The glass itself about 2" from the bottom of the screen up against the left side is a small crack that spider webs out about 1-2 inches. Around the crack the screen is black with a purple line surrounding it. Most of the upper left of the screen is white with multicolored vertical lines, the rest of the screen you can see the login screen but has horizontal lines and the whole screen is flickering like crazy. I can still move the cursor around but can only see it in the top right ⅓ of the screen where the only change is the flickering.

Based on your description, You just have to replace the LCD Screen,
This link should get you going, Screen from resellers don't come together with the covers. So I would suggest to examine the LCD covers on your computer see if it took damage as well, Normally If the Plastics were damage the LCD Itself will move while still attached to the covers.
You can Check this Hardware Maintenance Manual about Checking and replacing parts on your B570.
Just be extracareful in replacing parts, If you can have a Local Tech replace it then that's OK.
