Help with wireless network set up on 8820

Can someone please give me some help before I pull the rest of my hair out!
I am trying to connect my 8820 and also an 8110 to our home wireless network, each time I go through the set up procedure and find the network, put in the correct WEP key and then try and connect it gives me the following error messages on both phone "Device failed to associate with the AP." can some one please tell me where I am going wrong?
I have changed the home network from WPA to WEP as there is no option for WPA in the settings.
Help Please.
Many thanks in advance

I am unable to connect a 8820 on my network with same message noted by User: leomyles.  I am able connect my Bold 9000 without any difficulty.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I would not have thought there should be such a problem within 2 Blackberry models.
I too need help on resolving this issue. I would have chosen another model for my staff had I known such a problem existed.

  • Help with wireless networking with my Photosmart 6525 on Mac 10.8.5

I have just purchased an HP Photosmart 6525 and cannot get the wireless printing to work. I've followed all of the instructions provided online and printed with the device.
I'm attempting to connect from my Macbook Air running 10.8.5. I've successfully connected the printer to my wireless network - I just printed the wireless network test and it states "No problems found. Congratulations...". Gee thanks...
I've taken the steps of enabling Wireless Direct, and Web Service, ePrint is on. By the way, all of these different options are totally unhelpful - I cannot determine which are actually required to just connect via wi-fi?
I also downloaded and installed the latest driver software from HP. Going through the setup it reaches a point where it tells me to unplug USB (cannot go through it without it connected I learned) so it can configure wireless. Then it tells me it cannot find the device.
I have no option to skip this and although I've run it several times I still don't see the "setup assistant" application that it supposedly installed.
I've seen elsewhere that there is supposed to be the ability to connect directly to the printer via browser, by typing in the IP address. I've verified that the IP address appears valid for my network (192.168.1....) but when I put it into Chrome it cannot find it.
My frustration level is rapidly rising as the documentation and online support for this product is incredibly disjointed and unhelpful. I've searched online for hours, including this forum. Would appreciate any pointers to more detailed help / instruction before I am forced to return this printer.

    Hi,
Not sure this will ultimately help, but you should update your version from 14.0.0 to 14.1.2. If you can get to the update via Help> Updates... try using the Creative Cloud desktop application found here:
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud
You may already have it installed; it can be found in the Applications directory for a default install.

  • Impossible connecting with wireless network Netgear WNR 2000

I can not log on to my wireless network (Netgear WNR 2000) with my macbook. My other PC:s work fine and connect always. My Macbook only connect after I have restarted the router. When I use my Macbook in other places I can connect with wireless network. What is the problem?

I'm assuming that you're using the right network password!  After that, the most common causes of difficulty are:
    - The router not set up for DHCP and so cannot allocate an IP address to the MacBook
    - The router has "MAC" Address Authentication (a security feature - don't mistake MAC for Mac[intosh]) turned on and the AirPort MAC address isn't in the pass list.
    - The default "Automatic" location in System Preferences > Networks has been modified so that it no longer works.

  • Sangean digital radio with wireless network music player

Hi.  I have just purchased a Sangean digital internet radio with wireless network player.
Can I link this to itunes on my 2010 Mac?
Is there any way I can easily convert my Itunes library to windows media player to support this functionality?

A couple of things that come to mind to check... Does the SBWM device connect to your wireless network when you turn it on? SBWM device on power up / init finishes with 2 solid green indicators. If it ends with 2 solid green then you can check the network assigned IP from the remote / system settings, make sure you're on the same subnet as your PC. If SBWM lights end up with solid blinking green the SBWM did not connect to the wireless network. If this is the case make sure your DSL modem has the radio turned on. Make sure the DSL modem has the 802.b protocol turned on. Do you use network security. The highest level security the SBWM will support is WEP 28, if your new DSL modem is set for WPA or higher the SBWM will not be able to connect to the network. If you were using WEP security on your old cable modem the key in the new DSL modem will need to be identical to what you had on your cable modem, or you'll have to do the SBWM network setup via USB to load the new WEP key to the SBWM device. Hope these suggestions are of use. W3

  • PLEASE HELP ME, Problems with airport/network set up all of a sudden.

Ok here goes. Saturday Aug. 19 I was on the internet, everythings fine. Then all of a sudden my airport drops/disconnects. I went into assistant, internet connect, preferences and so on. My computer tells me in Network Diagnostics that the airport is green, airport settings is green, network setting is green, isp is green, but internet and server are red. Ive messed around with it to no prevail, in fact I believe I think I have made it worse. Now only the airport is green. I have know idea. My roommate also has an Apple and his wireless/airport is fine, nothings changed. As I have "messed" with it, I have come across a section where it tells me my internet set up/preferences or something has been changed by another application, if that makes any sense. This is not so much a problem as it is a hassel. Now I must sit at the coffee table to get on the internet.
Is there a way to start over or is this a serious problem needing an Apple store tec? Can someone walk me through what I need to do to fix this, as I have no idea what Im doing.
If there is any more information needed... Please ask.

No the password isn't your apple id password.
You encrypted your backup with a password, if you don't remember the password, then i'm sorry you won't be able to use it.

  • HP 175nw Problems with Wireless Network Connection - Mac OS X 10.8.3

    Please help!
I have an HP 175nw, from one day to the next it decided it was no longer going to connect to the wirless connection.
    I run a Mac on 0S X 10.8.3.
I can't find the installation software (the whole software not just the driver) on the web and the CD is worthless b/c this is a Mac.
I installed the printer on my windows laptop and it works fine, it connected to the wireless network using the setting sets on my laptop, it now prints wireless no problem, but not with the Mac.
I have plugged the printer directly into the Mac but the Mac doesn't even seem to recognize it.  The printer shows up on my printer list but when I try to print or scan from it the Mac says the printer is offline.
I need this printer/scanner for work desperately,  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Help with wireless internet connection

    Hi all,
Excuse me if I'm asking a repeated question, as being abit IT challenged, I just don't know where to look for a correct answer.
I've just gotten a new Powerbook G4 that came with the Airport Extreme, and also a wireless router.
Following the instruction that came with the router, I hooked up my ADSL modem to the router, and I tried to configure the wireless network.
As instructed, I was able to log onto the website provided by the router and ran the wizard to start the configuration process.
However, when all these are done, I couldn't log on to anyother website anymore, with Safari telling me that there's no internet connection.
From my desktop, I could see that Airport is on, and could locate the 'Default' network, plus other network within the neighbourhood. My service provider is using PPPoE.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what is wrong with my processes, and how I can rectify the problem?
I don't what other information you need in order to help me, but I'll be glad to provide it if asked.
    Thanks guys and girls!
    Cheers,
    Kenny Poh
    Singapore

    Hi Kenny,
Firstly, make sure your wireless network name is something unique - the name of your first pet, or a random set of letters - so you can be certain you've connected to the right router.
Secondly, are you connecting wirelessly (ie. not with an ethernet cable) to the "web site" of the router? If you are then that means the wireless part is working OK.
If you use the System Preference application and look in your Network Preferences for your Airport connection and under the TCP/IP tab you should have it set to configure IPv4 using "DHCP".
Depending on the router you bought there should be an option in its configuration to turn on DHCP on your network (this is a different option to the one for using DHCP to connect to your ISP) - make sure it is enabled.
With these set up what does the Network Status pane in Network preferences say for your Airport connection?

  • Need help with wireless speeds..

I just got myself a WRT54GS wireless router and i have noticed the speeds being extremely slow. I've gone through all of the threads and didn't get anything that could help.  I have tried what some mention, about changing the beacon interval to 50 and the Frag and RTS to 2304. Also i have changed the wireless channel a couple of times. Still nothing..
Now onto my connection in general, i have cable and the speeds when direct connected are very fast. I typically download at about 300kb+ and i can get mb download speeds as well.  But while hooked up wirelessly it has been going at about 20kbs. When i try and watch streaming videos and all, it will be break up and all of that..due to the slow speed.  BTW i don't believe there is anything interfering at all. The comp is in the same room as the router as well
This is my first time dealing with wireless, so any info and help would be greatly appreciated. What are some good ways to get the speeds up?  The comp i have is new as well lol  I know it limits a lot of the help, but this is a pain in the butt. Thanks

Set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
What encryption are you using?  WEP?  WPA?  WPA2?  Some systems work significantly better with one encryption system vs. another.  So try something different.  WEP is no longer recommended.  You should be using WPA or preferably WPA2.  Password (key) should not have any spaces in it.
Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2 (= PSK2 = WPA with AES ). Go to Microsoft Knowledge base, article ID=893357 and it will direct you to the patch.
Sadly, the patch is not part of the automatic Windows XP updates, so lots of people are missing the patch.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi
First time here, i think i am running myself in circles here reading hundreds od different threads and pdf's.
What i want to do is share my broadband connection with the Imac intel dual core (Wifes), My PC and an XBOX 360. Have the pc and the xbox already connected to the router which is a belkin wirelss pre-n router. the Pc is connected by cable to back of router port 1, the xbox 360 is wireless to the router.
What i want to know is do i need to get anything else for the imac to connect it to the router as it says it has airport extreme wireless networking.
My way of looking at it is that i neeed nothing else and it should just see a wirelless network from the router and connect to that, is that right?
If i am way off do i need something else to plug into the router to make the apple go wireless.
I haven't trierd it yet as we only just got it (the mac) and like to be in charge of all the facts first before setting networks up

  • Please help with wireless printing

I am running a wireless network in the house and having trouble printing. The printer (Canon MP800) is connected via USB to my Windows XP desktop. The desktop is connected via Ethernet to a 2Wire DSL modem that broadcasts the wireless signal to my Powerbook G4 running OSX (10.4.10). I can’t get the powerbook to print, though.
I have followed the instructions at http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3015.html up to the point where it says:
“Select the printer but do not click Add as you need to change the Printer Model.”
    “Under Printer Model select HP.”
I assume that since I am using a Canon that I should look for Canon instead of HP. The only options I get are
    Generic
    Other
    Apple
    ESP
“Generic” is a selection all by itself
“Other” opens up a finder dialog box that allows me to choose a file on my harddrive, but I have no idea where to go.
“Apple” opens a pulldown menu that allows me to select from a list of Apple printers.
“ESP” opens a pulldown menu that allows me to select from a list of other printers. This list includes Epson, HP, etc. but does not include any Canon printers.
I selected the “Generic” option. When I try to print from the powerbook, I have noticed that the printer queue on my Windows XP desktop shows a document entitled “Remote Downlevel Document.” The printer queue spools up with this document, it appears to go through the cycle and then disappear (as a normal print document does), but nothing happens on the printer.
The desktop will print normally. The powerbook will print normally when I connect the printer to it via the USB cable but another printer is created in the Printer List. This printer is named MP800 and is kind: Canon MP800 whereas the first attempt (wirelessly) names it Canon MP8 and is kind: Generic Postscript Printer.
In troubleshooting I have attempted to remove and reload the printer from both the powerbook and the desktop independently to no avail. I have even temporarily removed the firewall (Norton 360) from the desktop to make sure that wasn’t it.
I Googled the term “Remote Downlevel Document” and discovered that it was associated with a virus that affects print servers. I updated my Norton anti-virus and did a full system scan which came up clean. Some of the Google results also suggested that there might be clutter in one of the printer folders in Windows. I should remove any .tmp files I find there, but when I followed the path, there were no such files in that folder.
I apologize for the length but I wanted to make sure I had a full and accurate account in case someone might be able to point me in the next appropriate direction. Thanks for whatever advice you can offer.
I am cross posting this question on the macbookpro yahoo group, the applemac yahoo group and the apple discussion page.

still looking for some help on this intriguing matter... if anyone can help out, i'd really appreciate it! thanks.
    edited original post:
I have a Samsung ML-1710 printer which we use with both an iMac and an iBook. When the iMac needs the printer, we connect the printer's USB cable to the iMac. When the iBook needs the printer, we connect the printer's USB cable to the Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS).
Both the computers use the AEBS - the iMac is connected via ethernet (DSL modem) and the iBook connects to the AEBS wireless network.
The small annoyance of having to change the USB cable aside, there is a bigger problem. After every time the printer is used by the iMac, printing does not go through on the iBook. The only solution I've found is to restart the AEBS (through AirPort Admin Utility). As this interrupts the wireless network, it is a major annoyance.
I do not want to spend $ on an Airport card for the iMac at this point...
Is there any way to correct this? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
There are two updates for kernel 2.6.38:
    kernel26-2.6.38.2
    kernel26-2.6.38.3
which version did you update to?
I had a problem with the latest update: my computer got a total freeze after being on for just about twenty minutes tops. I'm not sure of what exactly triggered the freeze. I also use the x64 arch version. Everything stops working, None of the regular escape keys work and I think since I still didnt configure ACPI very well, power button wont shut my laptop down. I have to disconnect the battery to start again.
Did anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to test it and help someone correct the release?
It is possible that it has something to do with the wireless module being used at the time, but I didn't have any wired connection to make the test.
    Regards!

'Wireless Network Connection doesn't have valid IP configuration'.
The problem that I'm having on multiple devices gives me this message on my desktop PC. No devices in the house can connect to the internet apart from xbox systems weirdly enough. I have 3 xbox's in the house, two 360's and one xbox one which all connect perfectly fine.
No computers will connect and no mobile phones. The router is shining a blue light indicating that nothing is wrong. I have been searching for a solution for hours now and nothing has worked. If someone has a suggestion please let me hear it.

  • Help with Wireless thingy Please!!!

Hi, could someone please help with this? I am quite computer literate except when it comes to anything wireless or networking as it is something I've never used, so heres the problem - I bought ATV, and put a wireless card in the computer - do i need a seperate router to create a network? ATV searches for a network, and finds one, but I am not sure its mine!! ATV not coming up in itunes. Ive tried everything, but its just not happening. If I need a router, fine I'll get one, but if not could I have some instructions please?!!!! Like what on earth do I put in if adding network to atv manually? How do I know what my network name is? Tried with firewalls disabled, and added ports 3689 and 5353 to exceptions. Bearing in mind I need translations for things like DHCP etc! Its a Belkin Wireless G+ Network Card, compatible with ATV. Please help as this is the only thing standing between me and music heaven!!thankyou!

On a mac you could create an ad hoc network with a mac with wi-fi card only and internet sharing enabled, I've not done it and I don't know whether one has the choice to name the network or whether it will be identified as the mac's network name. I guess you will need advice from a PC guy as to whether this can be done on a PC, but my guess is that it can.

  • Help with home network.

Not sure if this is the proper forum for this question, just point me in the right direction if I'm wrong.
I am a new student in networking, taking the CCNA courses, and now want to rewire my home.  I currently have a cable modem and E2500 setup running my network.  I want to get the modem and router out of my computer room and in the basement where the cable enters the house.  I want to do this to clean up the computer room wiring a bit and to run line drops to different rooms in the house where the internet will be utilized.
Currently there are two PC's, a laptop, a tablet, sometimes a phone, and an XBOX using the internet.  I want to get my printer back up and running on the network but thats another story. Only one PC is currently hardwired.  I would like to run two cables into the room with the PC and XBOX that are currently using wireless, at least two into the computer room for the PC and network printer, and one or two into the living room for the blue ray player and possibly an internet tv.
If these classes are paying off, I believe I can have the modem and router in the basement with a small switch connected to the router to add more ports for my needs.  I was going to use a patch panel to manage and label my cables.
My first concern is for the wireless signal.  I feel as though I shouldn't have a problem, but I just wanted someone elses opinion.  The only real use will be by the laptop, tablet, and phones mostly on the first floor above the basement.  The wireless signal shouldn't be affected by just one floor, right?
My next question would be about using the other 3 ports on the router before using ports on the switch.  Should I be using the ports on the router first or should that not matter?
Also if anyone could point me in the direction of a fairly cheap(less than $100) switch that would fit my needs I would be grateful.

Most home routers are omni directional. Technically it is best to have it in a central location. But in good circumstances 1 floor won't make a difference. That is subject to change based on interference though.
Doesn't matter if you use the rest of the ports on router or a switch first.
If you run into issues with wireless signal you could run a wire up to a second wireless router and setup a roaming wireless network. Basically turn off dhcp on second router, give it the same SSID and passkey, and a different channel. Clients should roam between whichever signal is stronger after it goes below a certain signal strength.
If you don't need any link aggregation or vlans and just want a plug in and go unmanaged switch, it is pretty cheap. At that point a switch is a switch is a switch. There's no noticable difference other than port speed.
