HELP! Without any prompting for such a download, Firefox tells me 'Thank You for choosing Firefox 4', & I have lost ALL of my bookmarks! I absolutely need to restore them, please please help. Not impressed at all!
I am shellshocked.... so far I am not happy with Firefox's latest effort. When I first got this version, my 'saved tabs' function did not work, which I use regularly, and I lost vital site information with the update. I figured out how to fix this by changing a setting, and figured my problems were over.
But NOW without any prompting from me, Firefox re-opened, having lost the tabs I had, yet again, and instead opened up two new tabs, 'Welcome to FireFox' (ty for choosing firefox4), and 'Mozilla Firefox Start Page', AND I have lost all my bookmarks!, WTF! Please help me to restore them, I have tried the help info provided, but they are still not restored :( Some of those treasured bookmarks, an extensive list, I will never get again, unless I can restore the ones I had. :( NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.

Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

My contacts were lost when updating to ios5. How do I restore them? Verizon could not help me.
I persuaded my wife to upgrade to an iphone from a blackberry last march. She upgraded to iphone in March of this year. It has worked fine until the recent ios5 upgrade. After upgrading, she lost all of her contacts from the iphone. She is not happy with me, and I'm in need of help in finding a way to restore her contacts. She has worked with the Verison rep for several hours to no avail. It sounds like--as part of the problem solving--she was advised to do a hard reset of her iphone. She did not purchase an extended warranty from Apple, so she has no current warranty.
Could anyone help me with restoring the lost contacts to iphone caused by the ios5 upgrade?

Danassuming she had backed up the old iphone to itunes all she needs to do is restore from the back up of the old phone via itunes on the computer.

I don't know if upgrading to 5 would help.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I have not used a disk cleaning service or any program of the sort. The history wasn't knowingly deleted and it was present the other day.

After updating to Firefox 9 I have lost all my Bookmarks and Add ons
Firefox updated it's self to version 9.0.1. When I opened Firefox all my bookmarks and add ons where gone.
I have searched the help section with no help.cor-el,
This turned out to be the root cause for my problem. Simply renamed the
places.sqlite.corrupt file to places.sqlite and my profile (including bookmarks) worked again. Thanks!
By the way, I first noticed that something was wrong with my _profile_ when, in addition to lost bookmarks, I noticed that I couldn't create _new_ bookmarks. Also was not able to restore bookmarks from a backup .json file. So I created a new profile, and was able to restore the bookmarks from the original profile's backup. That led me to exploring your suggestion. Thanks again! -
Since swapping my broken iphone 4s for a new one i have lost all my pictures from camera roll but they are still saved in my instagram. Is there a way to get them saved back to phone? Also my whatsapp is not working since upgrading to IOS6??
Please help.You can not put them back in the camera roll. The camera roll is temporary storage for new photos taken with the phone. You can sync them back to your phone in another album using iTunes.
As for whatsapp, ask the developer. That is not an Apple product. -

I can use my appleID without any problems for using to download new apps in the app-store or Itunes - Problem: I can´t use my ID at facetime and Imessage -

Have you not got the music on your computer and/or on backups on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs ?

My ipod touch has lost touch with my itunes account. I appear to have lost all my audiobooks from itunes and a nook I downloaded from audible.com last week is on my itunes but I cannot syn it to my ipod. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes but this did not work and I now have a different screen with itunes which I am not familiar with. I need my ipod for audiobooks and podcasts because I have a visual impairment.
iTunes 11 does some thinks differently. See:

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar -
After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all the music that I had downloaded from my Cds. It was a lot of music! All I still have is the music that I had purchased in the itunes store. And before you asked. No, I did not have a backup. Never got around to do it.

I was prompted to update to iPhoto 11 yesterday (don't know why yesterday, I'm in iPhoto all the time). So I followed the instructions, library updated, all existing events and albums are there. I uploaded some more pictures and created a few new albums and did some new year spring cleaning, moving stuff around etc. And I started making a calendar.
I've opened it up today, my calendar is still there as are all the new events, but the pictures are empty outlines. If I open up a picture I just get the "!" but I can still see the thumbnails showing in the slider in the bottom - I don't know if that means the source files must still be there somewhere, or if it just means it captured thumbnails yesterday.
I've gone into it via "show package contents" and there just don't seem to be any masters for an upload yesterday. I also just had a look in the last import folder, because of a comment from someone above. As I scrolled down through the folder the images were there and literally disappeared in front of me - by which I mean, the thumbnails were there as I scrolled down and then would turn into empty outlines...!
All my old folders are still there, thankfully (although they're of course the ones that are also all safely back up).
Although I have a timecapsule, my photo library is too big to keep on my hard drive, so I keep it on an external drive - so it only gets backed up when I do it manually (thanks Apple for that, I will never understand why it was designed to work - or not work - that way). So if the pictures have been lost then they are gone for good which is super-frustrating (I just got back from South Korea and was in the middle of sorting out all my shots from that trip). It seems that this can only have happened because of the update - I should have known better than to have pressed yes.
If you have any ideas, I'd be most grateful!

When you sync with itunes on your computer make sure you have all the songs that you want to sync selected in the music tab in itunes when you connect your phone. Also with your phone connected click on the tones tab and make sure all the ringtones you want are selected there then sync
