Hey, jan hedlund,  i need stuffit expander for mac running  v7.5.3 software

search/refer to archived post "how to install the disk copy program" for full info.
i need the stuffit expander for older mac (v7.5.3) so i can expand .bin files whitch i currently cannot do...
i also need all of the software\drivers (if not installed from operating system disk) to run my performa 638cd mac (v7.5.3) a/v card and the tv tuner card and i also need the programs to view the content connected to the afore-mensioned cards... please post the links or send to my (more often checked than here) e-mail: [email protected] send whereever you like(here or e-mail)
also would it be possible (beneficial) with everything straight from the factory (nothing changed\upgraded) to upgrade to v7.5.5 whitch i saw somewhere on these ftp servers... why would i want to upgrade you ask??? im sick and tired of this infinite startup loop it sometimes gets into and i figure re-installing and\or upgrading the OS might help... another reason for needing stuffit expander, but i was hoping to put this stuff onto a cd, which (as far as i know) cannot be did with such an old machine
please help... this loop is annoying the sh@# out of me. i am going crazy trying to install stuff!!!

Pure-mac is a good source of old software.

PowerMac G4 AGP, mostly
Mac OS X (10.4.8)
uh- huh, yeah right... umm... the file i am looking for IS NOT there!!! the file i AM looking for is for an OLDER mac NOT a v10 plus mac
I AM VERY FRUSTRATED... THE SITE MIGHT WORK FOR SOME OF THE OTHER FILES I WANT BUT NOT STUFFIT (THE ONE I NEED TO EXPAND THE OTHERS)... DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT STUFFIT DOES? IT EXPANDS THOSE .BIN FILES THAT MOST PROGRAMS COME IN AND GUESS WHAT IT TAKES THAT APPLE ENCRYPTION OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED OFF THEM TOO SO IT HAS TO BE DID ON A MAC. AND AS THAT MAC IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE I HAVE TO PUT A VERSION THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH V7.5.3 ONTO IT...
sorry for caps but... you know... frustrated

  • IPod is formatted for windows but i need it formatted for mac

i just got my iPod a couple days ago used from best buy and hooked it up from my mac not aware that it was formatted for windows. when i try to restore my iPod it just freezes up my computer. do i really need it formatted for mac in order to get good performance?

Right. If you restored it in Windows the iPod will still be formatted for Windows.
Now see if you can restore it on your mac.
Also, know that Windows-formatted iPods work fine in Mac OS X. The only "problem" is that you cannot update the iPod's software on your mac if another software version is released. You would have to do that through Windows.
If you plan on using your iPod with both Operating Systems, you may want to keep it formatted for Windows.

  • I need internet explorer for mac, what should I do?

I need internet explorer for mac, what should I do?

There is no Internet Explorer for the Mac, only for Windows.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Need SAP GUI for Mac and process of how to install and configure

    Hi Experts,
I need SAP GUI for Mac. Also please explain the process of how to install, how to configure etc? Please help me.

You can download the SAP Presentation DVD that will have the SAPGUI Java version for OS X. After you install, just run the app from the Application Folder.
For config there are a few options:
    1. To connect to a DI directly. After starting the app, click new and under the "Advanced" tab use the following string:
       conn=/H/(hostname)/S/(port / 3200 for instance ID 00)
    2. To connect to a login group. After starting the app, open the "Preferences" / Configuration / Messageservers, you need to set a path to a file that has the message servers in the following string
    (SID) :     /M/(hostname)/S/(message server port)
Then click "New" and on the first tab you can choose a system and login group.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank

What version of Java do I need to download for Mac OS 10.5.8?

Since August 2012 updates for Java (and especially Java Runtime Environment, which is what you actually need) must now be downloaded direct from Oracle:

  • I need an organagram for Mac OS X 10.5.8

I need an organogram for Mac OS X 10.5.8

The "normal" word is organizational chart. Here's one such animal: OmniGraffle 6.0.3. It requires Mountain Lion although the developer should have versions that work on older versions of OS X.
Search for them on the App Store as well as at www.macupdate.com.

  • I am wondering if we need a antivirus for mac

i am wondering if we need a antivirus for mac

I suggest using third-party antivirus software in addition to the safeguards Apple provides.  I am not an expert on which packages are best.
Our company requires all employess to run virus detectors.  They do not specify which we need to run as long as we have one installed.  (They also don't require us to use a Mac but we all have chosen to have one.)  There are many good competing packages and so far as we know none of us have been infected without the antivirus software detecting it.
I use Sophos.  http://www.sophos.com/en-us/  It is free.  It has detected and disabled a few malware files on my Mac.

  • Alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite

Is there a reliable and secure alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite?  I keep getting websites telling me that I can see a video because my Flash Player needs to be updated.  But I haven't wanted to install it as I've heard negative things about it and Macs.  Is there an alternative to Flash Player?  And if so, what is it and where do I find it?

Being that Flash is very insecure, I've completely removed it from my MacBook Pro. The best alternative is to uninstall Flash from your system and download Google Chrome as it has Flash build into it and you're not vulnerable unless you're browsing in Chrome. If Safari is your main browser, as mine is, then you need to open Safari Preferences, go to Advanced and click the checkbox for 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'. Once you've done this, the Develop menu bar menu shows up and you can click it and choose 'Open Page With' and choose Chrome. It is a bit cumbersome, but it removes the vulnerability when browsing in Safari as many sites are now using HTML5. Hope this help.

It's a 3rd party app.  You really should contact Adobe Support and/or post in the Adobe Forums

Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS.  Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

  • Do I need to keep my Mac running while using iTunes match on iOS devices?

I'm considering subscribing to iTunes Match. Currently all my music is stored on a Macbook. Suppose I upload/match this music with iTunes Match. Can I then listen to the music on my iPhone/iPad even while the Macbook is off or do I need to keep the Macbook running (and connected to the Internet) while I'm listening to music?

Yes once the music is on a device (iPad, Iphone, iPod) you don't need to have your Mac running to listen to music.  This is true if you do Match or just sync with iTunes.  Once the music is on the IOS device or on the iCloud (so it can be downloaded) you do not have to keep your MAC up and connected to the Internet.

  • Downloading stuffit expander for windows media player 9 download

I want to download windows media player 9 to my mac mini b/c a lot of the emial files i get are .wmv not .wav files and of course Quicktime Player does not support .wmv files. So of course i need window media player but in order to download windows media player, i have to download stuffit expander to expand the files. But i am having issues with stuffit downloading to my computer. It is saying "mouting failed". Can someone please help me out??? It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm very new, but installed Stuffit just a few days ago without issue. Since no one else has jumped in, all I can offer are my guesses, but I guess that's more than you've got so far:
If you do a "Get Info" in the desktop, are the "Ownership and Permissions" (click the "details" arrow below it) such that you have read and write permissions to the desktop? Also, by now, if you haven't tried re-downloading it, I'd do that. My StuffitEXP10.dmg file is: 8,665,578 bytes in size for reference. Hope you get it squared away.

  • Do i need security/antivirus for mac macbook pro 15/ 2013

do i need security/antivirus for my macbook pro 15 2013

do i need security/antivirus for my macbook pro 15 2013
If you are using OS X you already have it.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up",  "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver "free" movies or other copyrighted content that is not normally "free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Need Adobe reader for Mac OS 10.3 Panther

Graffiti: I downloaded from the link you provided. Thanks for your attention, but my computer gives me the message that the "movie could not be opened". Either the Quicktime Player I have is insufficient, or they are not compatible. From the "win" in the link address, I am wondering whether that reader was really for Mac OS 10.3

    Sorry Julia.
Looking at the thread where I posted the link, I realize I gave you the link to the Windows version.
Here is the link to the Mac version: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/8.x/8.1/enu/AdbeRdr810_en_US_ppc.dmg

  • Developp with LabVIEW for PC but need to compile for MAC

    Hello,
My customer has a LabVIEW Professionnal development suite for Windows.  All the applications should be running under Windows but one (a file viewer) needs to run under both Mac OS and Windows.  How can I acheive this?  Do my customer needs to buy another licence?  Would an application compiled under windows runs on a Mac if the LabVIEW run-tine engine for Mac is deployed?
By the way, the application doesn't use any OS related VIs...
    Regards,

    Patrick
You will need to compile the application on a Mac (there is no cross platform compiler). Then you should be able to deploy tothe customers Mac with a run-time engine.
