HFM 9.3.1 Upgrade

Could Schema Utility Upgrade be run from HFM 11.1.1.3 when upgrading from HFM 9.3.1? Note that the HFM 11.1.1.3 is a new install running on a different server. How would the Schema Utility connect to the database to upgrade the application since there is no application yet on HFM 11.1.1.3 and this application is residing on HFM 9.3.1. What is the best practice to upgrade from HFM 9.3.1. to HFM 11.1.1.3.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi!
There are 2 possible options - HFM copy+Schema update utility or loading files into the new application. With one note, before loading your application file you can update it by opening it in the win32 metadata manager. It will convert it to the latest HFM version.

  • Migrating from HFM 4 to 11

    Hi all
Is it possible to migrate directly from HFM 4 to 11?
    Thanks
    Herman

    Yes.
The EPM portfolio has general restrictions which say to move up to 9.2 as an intermediary step. This isn't absolutely necessary with HFM. The schema upgrade should work. There is a good write up on the general conditions here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_install.pdf

  • Upgrading to system 9

    Hello
We are using an old version of HFM and want to upgrade to system 9. We still use HAL and want to also bring in FDM. I am trying to find some documents on how easy or hard this woudl be and what would be involved. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Hi,
Upgrading HFM from presystem 9 to System 9, releases 9.2.x or 9.3.x is not that complicated. Upgrading your HFM applications will under go a schema upgrade, that is changes on the relational database tables. Have not come up to any problems upgrading HFM applications, the only key concern you should have is the security. From HFM 4.x to System 9 there is a change in how security is managed. Security for users and groups (and security classes also) used to be handled inside the HFM, now they are all managed by Shared Services. Shared Services manages the security for all Hyperion applications in System 9. Worst case scenario in upgrading is recreating the security for each of you HFM apps. that is provisioning users and groups, your security classes will be intact.
If you have any more specific questions let me know.

  • Steps to upgrade HFM (EPMA) from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1/11.1.2.2

    Hi,
Can someone please let me know how to upgrade the EPM-HFM application in 2/3 steps.
I know how to upgrade if it is classis application just by upgrading the database in EPM System Configurator.
What happens or need to be done if it was built in EPMA? Just upgrade schemas of both EPMA & HFM in Configurator?
    Any pointers are appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Upgrade tool HE to HFM

    Hi all,
is there any tool to upgrade from HE to HFM?
It's a very simple HE application (very flat)
    Thanks in advance

Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.1 includes a utility that will generate an HFM application shell from the Enterprise application. Thsi can be useful for modeling an HFM application, though most Enterprise applications really need a redesign before they can be used as proper HFM applications, for many reasons.

  • HFM 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 upgrade - applications not visible in workspace

    Hi Gurus,
Recently upgraded HFM system in distributed environment from version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on MS Win 2008 R2 platform and Oracle 11g database. There are two servers as follows:
    Machine 1:     Foundation
                           Reporting
                           Workspace
                            HFM Web
    Machine 2: Foundation common components
                       HFM
                       FDM
Applied maintenance release, configured existing databases for individual components and deployed to application server on existing domain (on Machine 1 WebLogic) which went fine. Lastly configured web server on Foundation (Machine 1 - Oracle HTTP). Then executed the HFM schema upgrade utility.
Workspace & shared services are working fine, HFM apps are appearing in shared services, hfm text appears using hfm url, services are running fine. Issue is that HFM applications do not show up on workspace.
Oracle support suggested applying adf patches, HFM 303 & 305 patches, but the problem remains even after applying all the suggested patches. Is this a bug in 11.1.2.2? Please help.
    Thanks,
    Hamminder

    Hi Hamm,
The fact that you are saying that "hfm text appears using hfm url" can mean that you have not configured the workspace web server after you configured the HFM. Have you done that?
As another test, have you tried toy connect to HFM via smartview to an existing app?

  • Upgrade HFM 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.1.3

    Hello,
I'm new to the subject hfm, like to know what are the benefits of carrying out an upgrade of HFM 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.1.3???, is recommended??? and why not upgrade of 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.2??? is much the change in architecture that makes it very difficult to upgrade.???
    All comments are appreciated.
    Thanks

Upgrade to 11.1.1.3 as it is very stable and broadly used in the field. Another angle is that 9.2.x is no longer supported. The feature set in 11.1.x is great, especially support for 64 bit HFM.
    --Chris

  • HFM 9.2.0.0 upgrade to 11.x

    Hello Experts,
I need your expert comments for my following problem.
We are looking for upgrade for HFM-9.2.0.0,FR-9.2.0.0,FDM-9.2.0.0 to system 11.1.1.3.We found that oracle recommends path to upgrade to 11.x through versions
    a. 9.2.0.3
    b.9.3.1
    c.11.x
In this scenario we have to move to either of 9.2.0.3 OR 9.3.1 & then move to 11.x.
I want to know whether we can directly upgrade from 9.2.0.0 to 11.x?If yes please suggest the brief steps too.
    Regrads,
    Anky

    Hi,
Bug or not I would go with 11.2.0.2 for a fresh install (you will have to test anyway, I hope it's a test database !). Notice rules for patchsets change and 11.2.0.2 is the first patchset to be also a complete version. You won't need to install 11.2.0.1 first.
If so, anyone has the link to the 11.2.0.2 patch set download?
Download from MOS, section patches and updates (latest patchsets). Notice it is only available for Linux and Linux x64 at this time.
    Best regards
    Phil

  • Smartview reports do not open in HFM v11.1.2.1 after upgrade from v9.3.1.

Smartview reports when I attempt to open in HFM v11.1.2.1 (after upgrade from v9.3.1), points me to launch v9.3.1 workspace. Any advise pls... Thanks, Mark

    Mark,
I still don't fully understand the issue. Smart View is not launched from Workspace -- it is instead run from within one of the Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Are you instead asking about Financial Reports? These are run from the Explore menu within Workspace. You can view these as html or PDF.
A little more confusing is the fact that Smart View can run a Financial Report from within any of the Office products. In any case, when you use Smart View in 11.1.2.1 you could open a connection to the Workspace server (the connection in Smart View is defined in the Smart View options under Advanced > Shared Connections URL). Assuming you have provided a correct URL there, pointing to the 11.1.2.1 workspace server, you should see the available shared connections when you open a new conenction.
I re-read your e-mail and wonder if you are confusing things a bit. If you log into Workspace, using Internet Explorer, each user has their own preferences as to what page launches by default upon login. I think you are saying that a usr logging into the 11.1.2.1 workspace somehow has a default page leading them back to the 9.x workspace? If so, check their preferences to examine the default document and it's URL. Once logged into Workspace, choose File > Preferences > General, to view the Startup page. You can make any changes here, but this is user-by-user.

  • Issues with upgrading Hyperion HFM from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1

    Hi,
After the recent release of Hyperion 11.1.2.1, we upgraded our development environment to 11.1.2.1 from 11.1.2.
Installation and configuration was smooth straight forward [ We used the Maintenance upgrade while installing 11.1.2.1 ].
We migrated the application created from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 using copy App. We saw following issues.
    1. We are unable to run consolidation and we get following Error: “An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object”
    2. Every time when we login to HFM workspace and run reports we see database authentication window, we have to enter admin credentials for first time.
    3. We are unable to load a Rule File in 11.1.2.1, which was loaded successfully in 11.1.2.
Any details on the above issues or on the upgrade from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 would be of great help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Bhargav

I am going to throw out the most unexciting reply ever, but .... the answer probably lies in the 11.1.2.1 readme.
    V25453-01 From : https://edelivery.oracle.com/EPD/Download/get_form?egroup_aru_number=13638318
    Consolidation
When running a consolidation, the following error may occur: “An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object” with a description of: “Value violated the integrity constraints for a column or table” and the following problem: “Cannot insert duplicate key in object”. To resolve this error, delete invalid records.
I didn't look at the other issues; however, once again, I think the answers are most likely contained in the readmes.

  • Upgrade path from HFM 9.3.1.4 to Fusion 11.1.2

Is there an upgrade path from HFM 9.3.1.4 to Fusion 11.1.2? I see in the EPM 11.1.1.3 config guide that there was an upgrade section, but this seems to be missing from the 11.1.2 config guide. How do we move an existing application from 9.3.1.4 to 11.1.2? Does it have to be rebuilt via extracts and loads? Don't we lose information that way? (audit logs, reconsolidate, etc.)

I have heard there is no upgrade utility for 9.3.1 to 11.1.2. You would need to recreate the app. There will soon be an upgrade available for 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1. Not sure on the timing, but the last time I spoke with support they were saying sometime in Nov/Dec.

  • MSAD upgrade to 2008 R2 - user authentication - HFM FDM 9.3 DM 11.1

Looking to see if planned MSAD upgrade from 2003 to 2008 R2 will require any HFM, FDM or Disclosure Management administration to avoid possible user authentication errors? I understand they are compatible, but that doesn't necessarily mean connections will be uninterrupted. Anyone been there?

What was the error in the schema update utility?
The schema update log would be in the outbox\logs directory of the FDM application that is being upgraded.

This issue is now resolved and I would like to share with others.
This issue occurs when HFM application is upgraded to 9.3.3 on Oracle 9i database. There is a patch 9.3.3.0.03 to resolved the issue.
