Is it possible it was purchased with another Apple ID? My sons and I have separate ID's but share the iTunes library on the computer. Sometimes an App won't update on my device without the password from the user that purchased it....just a thought.
Other option: Restore from backup, maybe you can recover it that way.

If it is no longer in the App store, you will not be able to purchase again.

Exactly! If your friend bought them legally that is fine for HIS machine and HIS iPod. You, however cannot take his from his iTunes collection unless you also happen to own it -- legally. Of course if he acquired them illegally that just compounds the problem!
As far as transferring from one iPod to another...I think you can do it with manual sync...actually you do it the way you illegally acquired the music from your friend's iTunes...but you must wipe them from the iPod you are giving to you sister. She has to spend the money to purchase her own or use her own CD.

Making a new Apple ID is not a good idea, since you have to reset the password for that Apple ID anyway. All of your purchases are tied to the Apple ID that the iCloud account was created under. So, you have to retrieve the password for that Apple ID in order to sign into iCloud anyway.
Go to Manage your Apple ID, and click on the Reset Password option (Apple - My Apple ID). Sign on with the Apple ID that the iCloud account was created under, and answer the security questions. If you do not remember the answers to the Security Questions, contact Apple Support to have them reset:

You need to do as provided. If no change after restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

IN SE71, use the environment function 'copy from client' and make a copy of the existing script to the Z namespace. The make the modifications in SE71 as required. In cistomizing, make the new form known. Actiovate and transport.

I'll assume that you are referring to purchasing a book in iTunes. If that is the case, you can transfer the purchase with the phone, or you can sync the phone and iTunes.
