hi guys i used boot camp and turned my mac into windows and i wanted to play a pc game called guild wars 2 and i cant find a proper program to actually setup the game

Only if you decide to share with us your particular situation. Guild Wars should install and run like any other Game. Other than the Game Installer, Games don't need some other installer to make them work. Only someone who reads the instructions for the proper installation.

What is the error? Are you following the Bootcamp instructions? Where on the "internet" are you trying to install from? Did you try downloading from here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/downloads/?

You need to free up disk space before creating a Windows partition. To see how much free space there is on the startup disk, right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

  • Can i just partition my HD by using boot camp 4.0.1 without install window?

Can i just partition my HD by using boot camp 4.0.1 without install windows?
cox i want to use rEFIt to boot up my pendrive to install windows.
Due to some reason the boot camp 4.0.1 cannnot detect my usb drive (that contained windows 7), so thats why i use the rEFIt to boot from my usb drive

    Yes, you can.
Let the BootCamp Assistant just make the partition and do not click on "Install Windows"-button.
The result is a preformatted FAT32-partition on your Mac.

  • I have parallels 7 and windows 7, how do I use Boot Camp and windows

I have Parallels  version 7 installed on my MacPro5,1 mid 2010 (3.2ghz quad core) OSX 10.6.8
My question, can I run Windows from the Parallels 7 using Boot Camp app, or do I have to install it with Boot Camp on a  different partition ?
I have never used Boot Camp before so this is puzzling ?
I want to run a few of my PC games better than in Paralels 7 .

I thought the Mac were finicky with which hard drive they use.
I remember getting a 3.5 floppy for my IIe then many years later getting a 80meg HD then up to a IIgs ( loved that thing). Formatting and rebuilding HardDrive swapping out the smaller HD's..
Then a Mac IIci, last was wife's QuickSilver before this MacPro5,1..
It seemed so simple back then before serial- ATA, then. Started learning Windows vista (2008) on my mom's Asus laptop now Windows 7 ?
Getting more Mac like all the time...  A friend who tried the Sata 3 and blew something on his pc laptop fixed it..
Thank God formatting drives is easy, only back up the data you need before doing anything with a drive..
Thanks again for the information and Merry CHristma and a Happy New Year !!

  • Can I use Boot Camp and Parallels 5???

I have a windows 7 partition w/ boot camp. I was wondering if I can also have parallels 5 too. Here is a example, Can I use boot camp for my games and use parallels for little stuff and internet? I want both! Can I do this? I am thinking about getting parallels 5.

    Hi,
with earlier Windows versions (XP or Vista) this was definitely possible to do.
I am not that sure if there are problems with Windows 7 doing this.
Have a look at the Parallels Support Forum here http://forum.parallels.com/

  • Lose airport connection after using boot camp and windows XP

After using windows XP on boot camp and shutting down windows and booting to Mac OS 10.5.7 I lose the airport connection and have to restart or reset my airport extreme base station. My imac 2.8 is connected to airport via ethernet. Air port is operating on 5.7 version. This is a recent development and suspect it is related to updates in windows. I do not know where to start but need to solve this problem as it interrupts the other computers on wireless. Thanks Carl

I have solved problem. It was in the windows settings using airport rather than ethernet connection. Carl

  • Installed Windows using boot camp but lost my mac disc mid setup!

I am on a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and used Boot Camp 3.0.4 to try and get Windows 7 on it. I partitioned the hard drive and successfully installed Windows 7 on my comp using my Windows 7 CD. However, being the overeager moron that I am, I did so without ensuring that I have a Snow Leopard CD. So now I am stuck in Windows. Anybody got any solutions for a dumb man?

    you are not stuck.
the default OS is set to the Windows volume
    hold down x on startup
or hold down option key after the chime sound and wait for the startup selector
when you get to OS X then go to Startup Disk control in system preferences

  • I deleted "Boot Camp" and I cant get it back?

    Hi ppl!
I accidentally deleted "boot camp" and now i cant get it back. I have tried the Macbook Pro Application Install CD but it did not install Boot Camp! Hope somebody can help me

If you mean Boot Camp Assistant then see the following:
How Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
A few of the basic OS X installed applications can be restored from the Optional Installs installer located in the Optional installs folder on your Installer DVD. However, if what you need is not there then follow the instructions below.
How to Use Pacifist to Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive. Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items. Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist from VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
    A. Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
    B. Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
    C. Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder.
In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.
    • Click on the "Go" button .....
    • Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
    D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
    1. In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b. or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
    3. In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
    4. On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
    5. Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
    20 files were scanned.
20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk.
0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package.
0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
    6. Click “close”. Go to step 7.
    Extract or Install........
    7. In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
    8. If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
    9. In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
    10. If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
    11. Type in your password, click “OK”
    • Pacifist will begin to extract files.
    12. In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
    Notes.....
    • Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
    Stop
    Leave original alone
    Update ..... Default selection
Replace .... Replace option should only be used on full install packages

  • Adding windows to MacBook Pro using boot camp and external USB SuperDrive

I attached my Mac SuperDrive to my MacBook Pro and inserted the disc to add windows.  The disc shows up on the screen.  Went to boot camp to install and after I chose the percentage of use, press continue, it says no USB drive recognized.  What do I do?  Tried all USB ports with no luck

  • How can I use Boot Camp in Mountain Lion to mount Windows XP?

I would like to use Windows XP on my 2009 13" MBP in Boot Camp? I have tried and it only asks for Windows 7 and when I use XP it says unable to install.
    1. Is this usual?
    2. If so, is there a work around?
I do not have Windows 7 nor will I purchase it. I want to use this computer primarily as Widows XP as my new 2012 MBP is for Mac! Please help!
    Thank you!

I concur with dalstott with the following additional information:
    1.  I am currently typing on my 2009 MBP.  I installed Windows XP in Bootcamp soon after I purchased it.  I then upgraded it to Snow Leopard and then later to Lion, and Lion is what I run today.
Bootcamp continues to function with Windows XP installed.  I also have Parallels 7, and, as one of the features of Parallels, I am able to use the Bootcamp partition to run Windows XP within Parallels, as well, for concurrent use of Windows XP and Mac OS X Lion (saving me the duplication of hard disk space if I had to have both the Bootcamp partition and the very large file that Parallels would create for Windows XP).
    2.  There may well be a way for you to install Bootcamp and Windows XP in Mountain Lion without restoring Snow Leopard:
This method requires access to a WIndows 7 upgrade disc, but you do not need the serial number and you never actually upgrade to WIndows 7 (stop after Step 8):
User Tip: BootCamp - Install Windows XP & then Windows 7
NOTE: Although the author of this User Tip suggests that it will work on all Macs running Mt. Lion, if you read the thread, you will see that others have had problems, and my post suggesting that this method will only work if the Mac could originally install Bootcamp with Windows XP such as yours and mine.
    3.  While searching for tip #2, I also came up with this suggestion:
Installing WinXP on Lion or above without BootCamp
Good luck and be sure to come back and let us know what works for you!

  • Late 2013 iMac 27".  Used boot camp and installed windows 7 pro.  While in Windows 7, in my pc the mac os does not show.  Is there anyway to fix this outside of restoring entire computer and trying again.  Thank you from a mac newbie

Hello.  I bought a new iMac 27" with the following specs:
    3.5GHz Intel Core i7 Quad-Core (Haswell)
    32GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
    3TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M Graphics (4GB)
    27" LED-Backlit IPS Display
    2560 x 1440 Native Resolution
    802.11ac/a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
Thunderbolt, USB 3.0, SDXC Card Reader
720p FaceTime HD Camera, Dual Mics
    Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion (64-bit)
After installing all Mac update, used Bootcamp to create a Windows 7 drive.  Everything went fine to a point.  While in my Mac OS i can see the windows partition just fine and see/edit documents.  However, when in the Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, I cannot see the mac os in my computer at all.
Can someone please help this mac owner newbie?  This process worked fine on my mac mini and i have no troubles.  It is just on my new iMac that it wont work/show the highlighted paragraph above
Any ideas and/or help would be greatly appreciated.

I understand that much.  On my MAC Mini, if you look above at original post, I CAN see both OS while in the Windows 7 partition or the MAC OS.  This is NOT the case on my iMac.  Again, when in the MAC OS I can see the windows partion and move information between the two that way.  When in the WINDOWS partition, the only one that shows is the Windows OS from my computer or network.  The only way you can tell its even a MAC is the bootcamp icon in the bottom right corner of toolbar.  Both have same version of MAC OS so both should work same way..  When i double click on my computer, it should show both the Windows drive AND the MAC (as does my mini and another iMac 21.5 that i have).  This iMac does not do that - only shows windows.

  • I was wondering if I could use Boot Camp and install Windows 7 on my black Macbook. I don't see where I can tell what year it is from in the about this mac option either...? Please help. I am afraid that my mac is considered vintage now :(

I read somewhere earlier that if my macbook is vintage, then I can't install windows/bootcamp. Maybe this is too big a venture for me to undertake anyway, but just in case I wanted to get a little help before I dig too deep...  I think it was late 2006 or early 2007 when I purchased my black Macbook.

To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
    model 1,1 (Early 2006)
    model 2,1 (Late 2006 & Mid 2007)
    model 3,1 (Late 2007)
    model 4,1 (Early 2008)
model 5,1 (Late 2008, Aluminum Unibody)
    model 5,2 (Early 2009, 2.0GHz Model Only)
    model 5,2 (Mid 2009, 2.13GHz Model Only)
model 6,1 (Late 2009, White Unibody)
    model 7,1 (Mid 2010)

  • I am trying to use boot camp to partition my mac... and failing.

Every time I try to partition my mac going through the bootcamp steps it keeps telling me that "Your bootable USB drive could not be created, An error occurred while copying the Windows installation files."  I found a video that shows how to fix this problem, but only if you are using a CD to download Windows, but I bought it from the windows store online so its an exe file.  The instructions say that I need a USB drive (which I have) and a Windows 7 or later version (I have windows 8.1 pro) ISO image downloaded from Microsoft.  I bought my windows directly from their store, but I don't understand why the file won't work.  I clearly don't have the correct file/ISO image situation so please please please help me out.

    Catch-22
That .exe is not going to run of course, and if there is no ISO inside the folder, if say it is just small setup.exe to pull Windows - go back and redownload ISO. It will be there on another page.
Or, join the Windows 10 Tech Preview Insider program and use that for now for free until it expires and Windows 10 comes out, or you can run the .exe and install Windows on a different drive. 10 is very nice, some rough edges but huge improvements. And 7 showing its 6 years. (10 combines the best of 7 Desktop and modernized, it is not 8/8.1)
