Hi i am trying to update my ipphone 4 to the 5.0 IOS but i keep getting a message that tells me after I update it everything will be gone. I'd like to know how to update it without having to loose certain things like pictures, music, and apps.

Check your mac's Serial Number.
Some people have problems with missing serial numbers on their Macs and that's the message you get when this happens.
Click on the Apple at the top left of the screen, open "About this Mac" and click on "More Info". You should see a list with information about your Macbook Air. Check that on the Serial Number field you have your Mac's Serial. If you have "SystemSerial#" written instead then that's your problem.
You can re-enter your serial number if you have a USB CD drive, it's not very straightforward but I can walk you through it if you need it.

I've tried a lot of the stuff mentioned at that link and elsewhere, modifying host files etc. trying to downgrade my iPhone 4 back to 5.1.1 no luck , apple has locked up 5.1.1 for my phone and iPad . one post said I'm "stuck with iOS 6" darn I should have been more careful. I have the 5.1.1 Ispw on my MacBook its a permissions thing I don't understand. If it was indeed purchased with a different apple ID then there is no work around for what you want! You can try signing in with your daughter's apple ID and password and update the app and purchase whatever you want then log back in with your apple ID. This may work!

I've recently upgraded my iPad to OS 5 and I am running iTunes 10 on my MacBook Pro. For some unexplainable reason, I'm now getting a message that items (mainly TV shows I've purchased through iTunes) are not able to be downloaded because the computer is "not authorized." But the computer IS authorized. I follow the instructions to "authorize" it and, of course, I'm then told that the computer is already authorized! Still, the downloads won't sync.
Can anyone help me out with this?

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

You don't. the ipad is not a backup/storage device. it simply mirrors the selected content of your computer. The sync is one way - computer to ipad. The only exception is itunes purchases.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your computer?
If so, not good.
You may be able to purchase a third party program, not supported by Apple, to get the other music.

I'm not familiar with this error, but check the following:
-Is your disc a CD or a DVD? You want a CD, not a DVD.
-Is the CD blank? You'll want a blank one.
-Maybe the disc is scratched and cannot be used. Try another CD.
-Maybe your disc burner is broken. If you have another, try it.

i wish apple would make an "exclude" option though tbh.
i have some others called ... in the name "...soundtrack" (one word) or "hidden track" and "teaching track" !
i've got another one literally called "track by track walk through" lol
now im wishing there was just an option to select these oddballs and exclude them individually.
i cant come up with rules for every single possibility, but i cannnn eliminate those odd songs when i see them if there was an exclude option.
