Hi, I have problem with starting up my macbook pro, the gray screen coming and the circle still turning

hi
Could u please help me with the problem that I have with starting up my macbook pro?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • Just started my new Macbook Pro, from Time Machine backup and the password is not working

Just got home with my new mackbook pro, and going through the startup process I booted from a time machine back up of my 2007 macbook. When I got to the login part of the process, after the new macbook was registered and ready to go, and now my password is not recognized.

    Sorry about that.
I just got done posting back and forth with someone with a similar problem (not exact).
Turn the power off by holding down the power button, that is if just one push does not turn it off.
Then turn it back on and hold down the Option key. That will give you a startup screen where you can select which partition on the drive to boot into. Select the Recovery partition. From there you can use Disk Utility to wipe the Macintosh partition of the drive and then do a reinstall of the OS from the Apple website.
You need a internet connection to do this and depending on your internet speed it can take a few hours to complete. If you have a fairly fast internet connection it may still take 1-2 hours to download the 3.5+GB file to do the reinstall.
Before you go through all this try turning the system off and back on a few time to see if Lion can recover on it's own. I doubt it but it's worth a shot.
Again sorry for the condescending tone.
    Happy New Year.

I have two problems with my 2012 13” MacBook Pro.
    Gray screen shows at startup
    Randomly disconnects from network.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First, open Terminal in your Utilities folder and paste this into the prompt line:
    sudo update_dyld_shared_cache
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed to the screen. Press RETURN again.
Next, boot the computer into Safe Mode.
    Next, do the following:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up.

  • I have problem with my iphone 5 when I talk my ear allways tuch the screen and get it on no sound, the screen are not lock, is that possible

I have problem with my Iphone 5, when I talk my ear allways tuch the screen and get it on no sound, the screen are not lock, is ti possible to lock the screen when incomming an outgoing call going on

    Hello Mogulman46,
So what that means is when you have Do Not Disturb turned on, you may have an alert depending on the setting and how you are using your iPhone. So if it is set to Always, then that means that no matter what, your iPhone will not be notified. If it set to Only while the iPhone is locked, then that means that you will not get notification when your iPhone is locked but you will get notifications if your iPhone is being used. Also keep in mind the settings All Calls From can be set to certain contacts like Favorites, Everyone or no one. If you are using Do Not Disturb and you do not need it, then turn it off.
Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

CS6 problem. When I open the Mask panel, it takes up the entire screen width and the Looks controls disappear, Also, there is a new panel below the Mask panel that seems to have no purpose that I can find. The documentation says "Mask and Look panels - The Mask panel is now placed next to the Look panel. WIth the masking and grading tools placed side-by-side, you can now work faster on the mask workflow." Is there a way to move, hide, or otherwise manipulate the panels for a custom layout? All the examples I can find on the Web show the Looks panel to the left of the Mask panel where the controls are available.

Ok, here is what I have so far. Appdelete the iWork and reinstalled. Pages and Number work, but not Keynote.
Now, I downloaded a couple apps that I need, and no matter what I did, the spinning ball came up and the download stopped till it unlocked itself. It is really frustrating because the download was not completed and whatever came through would not mount. Could this issue be the internet connection? Permission fix showed a lot of Airport issues. I will try to run permissions fix again.

  • I have some problems with my battery of macbook pro 13", the mac doesnt work, what can i do to solve this?

My mac does not work, i have problems with the battery, what can i do to solve this, can it run without battery?

Desktop Systems use large capacitors in their power supplies to smooth out fluctuations in the supplied power, to avoid having power fluctuations damage the computer.
NoteBook computers use the battery to do this job. It is not a good idea to run it without a battery in place, because this allows fluctuations in supplied power to go directly into the computer without buffering. This may cause damage.
Apple has lowered prices on many battery replacements to around the US$150 range. The quality of third-party batteries varies widely, but they must generally be cheaper than that (or no one would buy them).

  • Problem with Leopard on a Macbook pro

I'm posting this for my fiance as it's his computer that's acting up and he can't get here himself. The problem goes as this: He went to boot up his macbook pro, which is running leopard and also has windows installed. When he tried to boot up into the Leopard side, it started normally, got to the grey screen, the swirly goes away, it starts to go to the login, but login never loads, it just goes black. Also, the keyboard lights are not on, but if he hits capslock, the key lights up. He's able to boot up into the windows side with no problem aside from the as-yet-unworking internet connection. Any idea what may have happened or how to fix it?

Make sure all these updaters are installed: find at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ although he should have installed these updaters before installing any other major software.

  • Problem with Mail on a MacBook Pro

My wife has a MacBook Pro - OSX 10.8.5 - and uses Mail (the native Apple email app) to receive and send all her email on her various email accounts - aol, yahoo, iCloud ([email protected]) and on her website name operated by Network Solutions ([email protected]).
Well, Mail has been misbehaving in a weird way. When she turns it on, her four or so email accounts work fine for incoming and outgoing, and after an hour ± some or all of them stop working completely. If she Quits Mail and then re-starts it, it sometimes works fine again.
FYI - at home, we have Verizon DSL and her MacBook Pro is linking via WiFi to our Modem-WiFi Router supplied by Verizon. It's an Actiontec GT784WN running firmware GT784WN-VZ-1.1.12. Everything else at home runs well (I think).
She says she doesn’t have this email problem when she is linked to the internet somewhere else.
So, what accounts for this weird lack of stability in Mail?
We've gone into the separate email accounts, re-checked the parameters, re-did one or two of them. We also re-established her WiFi connection to the Actiontec modem-router, and everything seems to be OK (including internet access on Safari) except for this weird email problem.
One more clue: When Mail starts saying that some or all her email accounts are bad, she says she can still send OUTGOING emails on her various accounts. The problem is she stops receiving them.
When this happens, she can continue to receive and send emails on the same accounts using her iPad, which also connects via WiFi to the same Actiontec Modem-Wifi Router. Or she can use Safari to go directly to the email ISPs (aol, yahoo, etc.), log in and see and send her email on her browser.
    Ideas? Thanks.

FURTHER THOUGHT after speaking with the very knowledgeable IT engineer at work -
It's NOT imap.  Imap is designed to let multiple devices access a common email account and to cause changes to the status of an email (such as it being read on one device) to be synced across all the devices.  If my problem were caused by imap, everyone would be complaining.
It might be my Actiontec modem-router after all.  There might be a momentary hiccup in the WiFi connection between the MacBook Pro and the Actiontec, at which moment the email accounts in Mail show a problem.  And so a restart of Mail would erase the flag.
And now I remember I have seen in the System Log of the Actiontec that the local IP address of the MacBook Pro 192.168.1.8 is renewing every now and then - usually once per hour ± but sometimes more often.
So I need to switch modem routers and see if this continues?  Or could it be something faulty in the MacBook Pro's WiFi circuit?  Anyone else ever notice the same thing?

Under what environment are you running Windows? Boot Camp? Parallels Desktop? VMware Fusion?
If you're using Boot Camp, did you install the Windows drivers that may be on the system disc that came with your Mac?
