Yep, me to exactly the same problem,  the error message keeps telling me to check my internet connection  or try later.  Nothing wrong with my internet connection.  Is it an apple server problem?

I am trying to restore my iPod and keep getting this message when I try: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." HELP! What do I do next???
      Windows XP

    Hi BigIRv,
Actually, a "requested resource" error message (which I believe you are getting) most of the time has to do with iTunes having a problem with connecting to your iPod, rather than the iPod software update server (although a more rare possibility of this error message could occur in that sense).
See my post here, which contains a couple of things to try if you have that error message:

  • How can I download iphone software 5 when I keep getting this error message: There was a problem downloading the s/w for the iphone ...The network connection timed out. It's error 3259

I keep getting an error message saying my network connection has timed out when I try to download the iphone 5 software to my iphone 4 while it's connected to my laptop. Then it says make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active. The download gets all the way to the end (takes about an hour mind you), and keeps timing out.  It's error 3259.  FYI, I have the latest version of iTunes.

Security software on your computer/router is the usual cause of this. Turn off/disable or uninstall all anti-virus software & firewalls. Try again.

  • Itunes podcast error message - "There was a problem downloading..."

Itunes cannot access any internet services - Podcast, store and radio don't work, but my internet connection is fine. I seem to remember disabling a network preference or a firewall config related to the itunes store (at the time I wasn't interested). Now I have a new Ipod and would like to listen to podcasts. Any idea how to help itunes connect to the internet?

Maybe it's permissions on some parent folders.
When you get a podcast, what itunes does is create a temporary folder named Podcasts in a folder named Downloads. When the DL finishes, itunes does some rearranging by putting podcast in the final Podcast folder and deleting the temporary Podcast folder.
So look at permissions on the Download folder - read/write isn't enough, you need create/delete for that temporary "Podcast" folder, too. Full control over the entire music folder & subfolders should fix it.

  • When updating my devices, I get the following message:  There was a problem downloading for the iPhone.  the network connection timed out.  Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again later

When updating each of my devices (iPhones and iPads) in iTunes, i always get the same error message
"there was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Mary's iPhone"  The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again later

This is common and there are literally hundreds of posts about this exact error.
Temporarily disable any Anti-Virus and Firewall software on the computer.

    Not a nice answer!
Posting "Check the 'More like this'" area and not simply providing the answer is a great way to make these groups worthless.
You're ignoring context.  On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers.  The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies.  Then came Lion.  The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest.  (2) When applicable, give a brief answer such as the one that you found objectionable.  (3) Give up all the other normal activities of life and spend full time trying to answer questions here.
People who needed help with Lion problems seemed to have trouble discovering existing message threads that described how to solve their problems.  I never posted the suggestion of "Check the 'More like this' area" without verifying that the help that the poster needed could be found there.  Even doing that, what I posted saved me time that I could use to help someone else.
The people helping here are all volunteers.  None of them is being paid for the time they spend here.  They all have a life outside of Apple Support Communities.  It's arrogant of you to demand that people helping here spend more time than they already do.

  • Since upgrade to Mac OS 10.7.2L , recurring error message: "There was a problem connecting to the server "servername". The server may not exist...etc."

Since upgrade to Mac OS 10.7.2 Lion, on MacBookPro, recurring (every minute or so) error message: "There was a problem connecting to the server "servername". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network conneection, and then try again." (The server specified is no longer connected or used). The error message must be clicked twice to continue to work on the computer. Time Machine is switched off. No external disks are connected. Keychain entries for "servername" have been removed since the problem arose. Is there any way to prevent this error message?

I am having the same problem; have tried deleting some of the plist files as others suggested but to no avail.  Tried turning off time machine - that didn't fix it either.  Very dispappointing.

  • Curve 9300 error message: there was a problem during installation. Please try again when using app world

    hi
I have a curve 9300 using os 6 and the latest app world 2.1.1.. something
when i try to download apps it initiates the download then after a couple of seconds after starting it shows the error message "there was a problem during installation. Please try again"
i have tried ALL the suppourt forums (KB26671 and KB30074) and suggestions/threads and called my network but none have worked.
these were reinstallign app world, making a new blackberry id as the other email address was associated with an old blackberry, security wiping the phone then restoring it and entering the new bb id, changing the date to 2014 and then hard wiping the phone and restoring it
i have twitter, facebook and bbm ect apps but these are RIM made i think and already preinstalled. everything else on the phone works fine
i have tried both wifi and network internet and battery pull
i really dont know what else to try or who else to contact to fix it. very annoying paying for a service you cant even use!
any help or more ideas would be great!
    thanks

    Hello carckberrypie,
In this case i would recommend wiping the BlackBerry smartphone. To do this we would need to back up the BlackBerry smartphone http://bit.ly/aSediX
Once backed up please follow the link below to perform a security wipe of your BlackBerry smartphone.
    Link: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14058
Test the BlackBerry smartphone and proceed with a selective restore as outlined below.

  • T400: Error Message - There was a problem connecting to the TPM

    Hi,
I'm a new ThinkPad user. I just got my T400 about a week ago, and I'm a fan of it right away. But there's this one little thing that really annoys me. The second day I used my laptop I got this error message: "There was a problem connecting to the TPM (Security Device) on this computer," and I've received this message since then, every time I turn on my laptop.  What does it mean? And how do I get rid of this error message? Thanks!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

go into bios and check whether the TPM is activated or deactivated in the BIOS. Make sure it is on. If the problem persists then call Lenovo, could be a hardware level problem.

  • Excel won't open and error message There was a problem sending the command to the programe

    Hi there
I'd be grateful for your help.
I've just bought a new laptop and installed Office 2013.  I used Excel 2013, did what I needed to do and saved it.  This was 5 days ago.
Today, I've tried opening the file from my desktop and get the error message 'There was a problem sending the command to the program'.
And when I try to open Excel to do the DDE fix, which seems to be the best suggestion, I can't open Excel at all.  I've tried to get into it from the Apps screen.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks

Don't seem like this can be fixed so I went back to version 6.0.2 which works good.
I have Chrome now as my default browser and will not use fire fox until they fix it!
    Chrome works great!
