HI, I recently upgraded my operating system IOS 5.0.1 on an iphone 3gs. My question is, how do I get the text messaging preview to just pop up so that I can see the name only when the lock screen is on? The conventional ways of doing this, such as using turning off the SMS preview under the "passcode lock", well that option no longer exists, or if it does, I'm somehow missing it.
When I go to the "messages" setting under settings on my phone, I still don't see an option of turning it off.
If I can just get the name of the person sending the message, as I had it before, I'd be happy.

her contacts are connected directly with the Google Server so as long as they are saved to her Gmail account she should be 100% fine.. the only contacts she may lose are the ones that she added directly onto the phone and did not sync to her Gmail account.. so you should just double check with her on that

The Touch Copy third party software for PC's is the way to go it seems and although the demo is free, if you have over 100 songs then it costs £15 to buy the software which seems not a lot to pay for peace of mind. and restoring your iTunes library back to how it was.

I accidently synced my phone to my dads itunes account, so when he went to 'backup' his phone, he got all of my photos and text messages. How do I get his text messages and photos back?

When I first got an iPhone, I didnt have my own iTunes account. So in turn i used my Dads. Well being unaware of what i was doing, I synced my iPhone to his account. Well a couple of months ago, i started using my moms apple ID to buy things in the app store, and i started recieving her text messages. Now my dad, has plugged his phone into his itunes account and has synced it and has all of my photos, his contacts are still there, but he has all of my apps, all of my text messages and has all of my photos. What can i do to get his things back? And stop getting my moms text messages. I really would like some help on this please Thanks!!!

Since I upgraded my operating system my iPad won't connect to iPhone hotspot

Hi,
I have recently purchased an iPad to work alongside my iPhone 4S and found the "hotspot" feature really useful
However I know find that it doesn't work.
I turn on the iPhone hotspot and the iPad, sees it as a Network which tries to connect to but never makes it. The circular wheel just keeps going round and round.
The iPhone says "Personal Hotspot 1 connection ", but I can't get onto the internet with the iPad.
The only thing that has changed is I have recently upgraded the operating systems on both items
Is that just a co-incidence?
What has gone wrong?

How do I hide the text message preview in IOS5.0.1.

What's up All?,
Since upgrading my 4s to 5.0.1 I notice there's no way to hide the text preview on the lock screen. For privacy reasons I don't want this to happen, it's ok if a name comes up but I don't want to see the message. I've been searching the threads and am calling no joy. One suggestion was that if the phone is password locked that it would just show that you have a text and the senders name, nothing more. This isn't the case on my end, I always password lock all my stuff, phone included and I still see the text preview. Under the setttings menu for texting, there's not even an option to turn the preview off, at least not on my phone, there was before.
Has anyone found a way to deal with this? It didn't happen prior to IOS 5.0.1.

Color me feeling stupid! I don't recall if I disabled it that way or not when I orignally got the phone, I know on the 3g it was under settings>messages. In either case, you steered me to where I needed to go and got the issue fixed for me and for that, I thank you, I appreciate you're taking the time to help out!

I agree with zukes. There is no activation code entry, or at least there wasn't when i installed the app. You are using the app from the appstore, as opposed to going in thru safari, right. I do not know where you are from, and maybe the international app is different. But in the us, all you need is your e mail and password from your netflix account.

My Ipod touch will not connect to itunes. It only connects to the computer, nothing else. I have tried everything that I can, but itunes still wont recognize it. I even checked the printers and drivers and it stated that my Ipod is now a digital camera.

I am not sure what I should do anymore, and I dont have the money to buy a new Ipod. Can anyone help me with this problem?

It is normal for the computer to recognize the iPod as a camera since thatis how one gets photos and videos off the iPod.

If that person lets you set up a Firefox profile for our own use you may be able to make that the same as your present computer's Firefox.
If that is not going to be an option then export your bookmarks as html. Take that file with you, or put it on the web where it is accessible. Opening the file with Firefox will give you a bookmarks listing. It will have descriptions and some structure, but nothing like as good as the proper bookmarks.
The file will also open in most word processors.
You could even take Firefox with you. Consider use of the unofficial Firefox Portable as an additional browser.

Picture messages without a texting plan are 25 cents each. Better than the $1.99 or $2.99 from the online store....
Attaching to an email would not work as mobile email does "do" attachments.
Sending to your online album will use text messages, I believe. Better to use a micro SD card, save to the card, and transfer them to your computer that way.

After I delete the texts I can't recieve incoming messages? I can only recieve those messages after I restart my iphone but then all the older messages I had just deleted come back.

If you wish to delete a whole conversation, then you simply go to the left side of the conversasions panel and slide your finger to the left. If you wish to delete only a few, then hold the bubble until it has a few options come up, chose more than choose delete. That wil not delete the text from the other persons phone, you are not able to do that wothout taking there phone. Hope that helped
