hi! i took black and white pictures in RAW, but in Lightroom i see these only in color. what to do? thank you

You may want to read this I imported a mix of color and black and white raw files but lightroom changed all the black and white file to color?
The Black and white you see is just the cameras representation of the "raw" pixel information straight from the sensor. The RAW file format has yet to undergo demosaicing, and so it contains just one red, green, or blue value at each pixel location.
Lightroom, or any other RAW processor, doesn't recognize the in-camera processing because it is unique to the camera.

  • Canopus ADVC110 is giving me Black and White picture which is misaligned

Very new to Analogue to Digital converting so please forgive ignorance!
I am in the UK. I have Canopus ADVC110 is giving me black and white pictures which is misaligned and shows specked picture noise. I see bottom on one frame and top of another with a black line ("frame" rebate?) running through the middle of the monitor screen in iMovie.
I have leads from my camera plugged into the front of box and firewire out of the back into MacBook Pro running iMovieHD v6.0.3.
I have set the dip switches to both PAL and NTSC just in case I got the output from my camera wrong (even tho' says Pal on it).
In iMovie I choose DV as video format and it picks 29.97 fps automatically. iMovie shows me the capture is NTSC from the Canopus box.
The Canopus website has poor support so I am at Discussions mercy!

As you're in the UK, you MUST use the 'PAL' setting, and choose a new Project in iMovie to be 'PAL' ..that's 25 frames per second.
If you do that, your import will be OK, instead of of shifted and black-&-white.
Work with Pal throughout (25fps) and you'll be OK. Set iMovie's Preferences to PAL 25fps, then Quit iMovie and restart it, to force all future Projects to be PAL 25 fps.
Do the same, too, for iDVD if you're going to use that to burn DVDs after you've edited your movies.

  • Why does a black and white picture come out with a tint?  iPhoto, Canon

When I print a black and white picture from iPhoto, it comes out with a tint.  How do I prevent that? iPhoto, Canon MX310

    Hey neil293,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, when you print a photo in iPhoto it has a tint. I would recommend that you read this article, this article explains how to adjust the tint in a photo.

  • Apple tv 1 shows black and white picture???

i got my atv1 4 yrs back.was using it with my old tv with the 3 component cables, and i used to get only black and white pictures.
but after using it for such long time,i finally got a new led-hdtv.but to my surprise still the apple tv shows only black and white.i am not the getting what the problem is and how to fix it to make it color???

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The fact that you are receiving a black and white picture suggests that you are using only one of the elements of the component cabling. Can you tell me more about how you have connected the Apple TV to your new TV please.

How Can I restore a wrinkled black and white picture

I doubt that anyone can provide this information to you without seeing the picture. You can post the picture here on the forum page via the camera icon at the top of the reply box. However, you can not do in an e-mail reply.

  • Colored objects in black and white pictures?

How can i take a white and green dress to have just the green pop out but yet have the reamining picture be in black and white? Thanks

Just desaturating can produce a rather flat image, though, and this method may give you a very peculiar shade of green, not the one you wanted.
If the photo is in color, it's better and easier to just get out the selection brush (the one with the gears on it), select a B&W conversion style in the options bar, turn on the inverse checkbox and drag across the dress (assuming it's already the color you want). The rest of the photo will turn black and white, leaving the dress in color.

  • My black and white pictures show up colored

My photos aren't the same as the filter I used in the camera when I was taking the picture, for example my black and white photos show up colored.

Have you checked your ink levels and the inkjet jets for plugging?

  • Black and white pictures and raw format

I started to use raw format. however, when i shoot pictures in black and white and download them to bridge, they get converted to color pioctures. Does anybody know why and what to do about this?

    In addition to this,
Raw is Raw, meaning it captures all the data your sensor was capable of. It creates also a jpeg preview extracted in camera from this Raw file to show at your camera viewer and as thumbnails on your computer.
You need a Raw converter to translate the Raw data to a picture in RGB (demosaicing they call this process).
And every setting you choose in camera for shooting is just added as metadata like all Raw settings in the Raw converter are added as metadata to reflect the changes you have made. If you want you can delete those data and start all over again with the original file because this stays as it was taken when shot, regardless all earlier applied settings.
Bridge uses Adobe Camera Raw for converting (demosaicing) the files and has it own code like others have their way of converting. It is possible that the vendor software delivered with your camera is capable of showing the in camera settings right away but then like Curt already stated it is just a reflection of your settings, the original is still the color image you have shot.
There are lots of ways (and far better then in camera setting) to convert your color image to black and white. Just start a google search for some video tutorials and choose the one you like best for your workflow.

  • How do you add a colored picture on top of a black and white picture with out it turning black and white too?

  • Black and white picture instead of color

My main user account on a G4 running 10.2.8 started displaying b/w picture. I was able to fix this by manually switching to millions of colors in the "Displays" menu after each reboot.
When I recently migrated the account to an iBook running 10.4.10 this is no longer possible (iBook's default option is "millions" but the picture is still black and white). I tried switching between various resolutions/settings and nothing helps. Resetting PRAM didn't help either.
All other user accounts work fine so I guess there's a corrupt preferences file in the account's library.
    Anyone experiencing similar problems?
    Thanks,
    mladen

Go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing tab and in the display section uncheck the "Use grayscale" checkbox.
    Hope this helps...

  • Television suddenly Black and White picture.

I am putting this out there in case anyone else runs into this issue.
Last night we are watching television when suddenly all of the color disappears.
After a few choice words, and checking all of the connections, which all seemed good.
I tested the TV with a DVD and it's in color.  But everything coming through the Set Top box is black and white.
Tried turning it off, and back on, and it did not help.
Finally I unplugged the STB to force a reload. (I probably should have done this through the in home agent).
When I plugged it back in and everything re-loaded then it was in color again.

  • Multiple Black and white conversion from raw or jpgs

    Hi All
    Any help would be appreciated.
I have 300 wedding images taken on raw and jpg. I now want to convert them all to black and white. Any way I can do this without doing it one at a time (whether using raw or jpg files)?
Hope someone has the answer or else I need to fork out £500 for CS4!!
    Clive

    Hi
Thanks for reply. I am able to open and convert from raw ok, what I don’t know if I can do is process multiple files that have been changed, i.e. to black and white?
I don’t think PE8 will actually do this.

  • Poor black and white quality in calendar

    Hi there,
Last week I ordered two calendars via iPhoto.
The canlendars only contains black and white photos but the photos in the calendars I received are far from black and white. They have a stron yellow/reddish tint and looks nothing like the pictures I edited.
Is this a general problem with Apple print products that you cannot get true black and white pictures in books, calendars etc.
If so, I believe it should be stated somewhere that you should expect poor print quality from black and white pictures. And if not, is it possible to have my calendars reprinted in a better quality?
    Best regards,
    Stefan Nielsen

This Apple doucment, iPhoto: Image differences between books and prints, discusses B/W prints and their colorization. However, what you've described is not what they describe so it might be a printing glitch.  Contact Apple for a redo.

  • Black and white TV display.

I just purchased a Mini-DVI to Video converter for my macbook to make my TV my new monitor (screen accidents suck) and now I've got a Radio Shack GoldSeries S-Video cable running to my Samsung tv. The resolution is fine and everything works great except for the TV showing up in black and white. I've called AppleCare and they're not sure what's wrong. Anybody have some insight on this matter?

I can think of two possibilities:
    1) There is a fault in the S-Video cable/adapter
    2) Your TV is set to the wrong input setting
S-Video sends the luminence (brightness) and chromanence (colour) separately. Either the chromanence signal is not getting through (option 1 above) or the TV is not using it (option 2). In the UK, most TVs have a SCART connector which can accept composite video, S-Video or RGB video through the same socket - are you using this or something similar? The TV needs to be set to display the correct input connector (SCART) but also the correct signal (e.g., SCART S-Video, SCART RGB etc.). If you just select the default SCART option, it would probably be SCART-composite, which happens to use the same pin as the S-Video luminance signal so you get a black and white picture!
Hope this helps (and that I got the technical details right),
    Simon
Edit: in short I think this is an S-Video/composite video issue - either the Mac is sending composite video and the TV is trying to display it as S-Video, or the Mac is sending S-Video and the TV is set to display composite.
