Try placing the iPodin recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. For recovery mode see:

Next would be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

If you've tried the basic troubleshooting steps (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new), and you've tried charging from a wall socket and these all fail, then you have a hardware problem.
If your unit is still in warranty, you will be eligible for a replacement with a refurbished unit free of charge. If you are out of your warranty period, you will be eligible for an out of warranty exchange which will cost the equivalent of 200 US dollars.

My Toshiba will get really hot on the bottom and then power itself off

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. When I am on it, the underside will get really hot, and it will shut itself off. If I unplug the power cord from the laptop and then plug it back in, it will power up again. Can someone tell me what is going on, and if I need to send it in to be repaired?? It isn't under warranty anymore so it is going to cost me, but I don't want my laptop to catch on fire either as that is how hot it gets sometimes. I just let it cool down before plugging it back in and playing on it again.

Macbook Pro gets really hot including the power adapter

Good day to you all!
I just have an inquiry about my recently purchased Macbook Pro 15-inch (non-Retina). On the first 2 days of using it by just running Mac Mail, Safari, and iTunes, it's temperature is really acceptable. However, on the 3rd day, the base of the Macbook Pro was really hot, including the Power Adapter. I even noticed that the fan was making a loud noise, just like a jet engine (just being exaggerated). But the fan activity is really unusually loud. When it got that hot, I was doing Skype with my wife, playing music in iTunes, copying photos from an external hard drive to iPhoto, and using Facebook in Safari.
What I did was I unplugged the power adapter, and let the battery reach 0% until it automatically goes to sleep. Then I will be charging it while it's off as part of the battery calibration link that I've found at the Apple support page. Also, I did the SMC reset.
I was just concerned because I don't know if I'm going to ask for a one to one exchange since it's still within the 14days return period for Apple Online Store purchase.
I hope someone can give me a suggestion and other recommendations to sort out the heat and fan issue.

It could if the camera wasn't properly wired and the camera was used a lot, or if the Skype software accessed the graphics chip a lot and the graphics chip was somehow damaged. A cooling pad is not a bad idea. But heating issues with Macs that present themselves with automatic shutdown are about the only one's I'd really get concerned about for the Mac. The notebook is not a laptop, and a cooling pad makes sense mostly if you are going to use it as one. Cooling it down would certainly help it regardless. If you notice a difference in performance with it, that might be worth while checking the hardware test mentioned on my tip and taking it in for. Do get AppleCare before it is a year old. That way you can bring it in and get the hardware fixed up to the third anniversary of buying the machine.

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it has never been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

Erase and reinstall help - random shut off

I've been to diagnose my random shut off of my early '06 iMac Intel. It seems to shut down when I use a lot of memory.
I've done the AHT, resetting the PRAM, ran TechTools, and DiskWarrior.
It doesn't happen as frequently, but it still occurs. Shuts down randomly once a week. And I have to wait 10 minutes or more to start up again.
I saw a some users reinstalled OS X and it helped them.
SO FINALLY MY QUESTION, , I'M CURRENTLY RUNNING OS X 10.5.8 LEOPARD, BUT MY iMac ORIGINALLY CAME WITH TIGER 10.4.4, WHEN I ERASE AND REINSTALL DO I NEED TO USE THE ORIGINAL TIGER DISKS OR CAN I USE THE NEW LEOPARD?

ran Power Fractal and is still running for 15 minutes. Nothing happening. I'm not sure how to use the program. I messed with the colorspeed, i put it to 100. Put the max count to 131072. Zoom factor 10. I even opened up Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop all running at the same time.

I noticed a shut off when free memory is 500 or less.
Fantastic obsevation, RAM is one of the hardest things to test for, RAM tests can only be trusted if they find a problem, not if they don't... seems OSX is a better RAM tester than any RAM test, that being said...

More information: The iPod ran out of battery late thursday night and I plugged it in to charge. The charging symbol appeared but within 20 minutes, the ipod had gotten very hot and had gained no charge. It hasn't been dropped and it hasn't gotten wet. It's a year and a half old. I use an otterbox as a case, but this problem began three days ago, despite my having been using the brand of case for over a year. It's super important that I find a way to fix this. Help please?

Recently I got a new wire for my iPad, and since I've gotten it whenever I plug my iPad in to charge, it doesn't work the first time, or second, or third.. I have to keep retrying until it works, which is usually about 20 times.. But now it's really not working.. I must have done it over 100 times but nothing is happening.. If you could help me or have been through a similar problem and could give me some advice that would be great!

If you got a new cord, it appears you got a defective one. Take it back and get a new one. I'm afraid none of us can help you if you have a defective cord.
