Have you tried the transferring purchases in the File drop down menu? Also you can download your purchase by checking the second article to see your purchases within your library or by going to the iTunes Store and click the Purchases link.

i have an old i phone 3s and was using it as an ipod. at the last update i got got a message saying there is no sim card in the phone. i do not want it to be a phone anymore. however the device has a locked screen saying it has no SIM card. how do i get back to unlocking the iphone and using it as an ipod again.
thanksiPhones require a SIM card for activation, regardless of whether it is being used as an iPhone or an iPod.
Put a SIM in the device for the carrier it is locked to and activate it. The SIM can then be left it it or removed. -
HT201407 iPhone 4 activation and restore errors. Tried everything and the phone still won't work
Woke up this morning and looked at my phone. Found an error message saying "iPhone cannot make or recieve calls, please restore through iTunes". So before restoring it I checked the support website to see if there was anything else I could do before I had no other choice than to restore the phone. Followed everything, found the phone still wouldn't work or recieve signal. I restored the phone and now it wouldn't activate, so called Apple and explained to them. Tried everything I was told, (Call my network, original network provider of phone, restore again, try recovery mode, activating with a different SIM card, absolutely everything) and still the phone wont activate. Apple have bent over backwards for me to try solve this but have had no luck, so if anyone else has experienced this and had any luck fixing it can you please share any info with me as I'm now effectively stuck in a contract without a phone or an option to renew the phone or one to put my SIM card into. iTunes also thinks 6.1.3 is the latest software but I have seen users with 6.1.4
The phone is an iPhone 4 16GB originally locked to Orange UK but has been working fine with a T-mobile UK SIM.
I've spent a couple of hours looking on the Internet and had no luck at all so any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Or did you do something else to make the device work with the other SIM. There are a number of issues regarding activation, and many deal with trying to activate a device that has been locked to a carrier, hacked to work with another and then locked back when the device is updated. Would any of this pertain to you?

Was the SIM card activated on another phone? I assume this is an ATT style trying to use on T-Mobile? Was the SIM installed correctly? Is the carrier (like T-Mobile) operating IOS 6 devices yet?
If the SIM is a valid SIM from say T-Mobile, you may want to contact them for assistance activating the SIM card.
Activation and SIM issues typically point to the carrier. And if this was a CDMA phone say working with verizon, it will NOT work for ATT or T-Mobile as they use different electronics on the 3GS. The SIM slot is for international use only. -

I have an old iPhone 3S, that was used with Bell. My friend lost her phone and I lend her this one, which she unlock to use with Rogers. I got it back and want to use as an iPod not the phone, but when I connected to iTunes I am getting this message: "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please diconnect and insert a SIM card".
I went to Bell and Rogers where we tried inserting active cards but message never changed.
On the phone itself I am able to get wifi but finish with "Your phone could not be activated because the activation server is temporary anavailable."
I run diagnostic from iTunes:everything is working properly, only message out of normal is "iTunes is not running in safe mode"

I have a jetpack, and when I try to "connect" to my ipad or phone, it keeps telling me I am not using the correct password. I have tried everything. I even changed the password, nothing is working. Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information. Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection. Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect. -

I have an AirPort Extreme running the latest software. I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 3G, my girlfriend's iPhone 4. The only devices that will connect to the network are our MacBook Pros and iPads, (1 and 2). I have reset the airport to default settings, I've restored my iPhone, I've even disabled the password. I am still unable to join my open airport extreme wifi network. PLEASE HELP!
Saying you tried everything isn't helpful. Perhaps describing in detail what you've done would allow people to better assist you.
If you're ever experiencing strange problems connecting to any wifi point you can always try resetting your network settings on your iPhone itself. This solves the majority of wifi problems.
To do this go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will clear all of your saved wifi hotspots and passwords, and hopefully solve your issue.
Please try this and respond with your results. -

Hi Chris thanks for the reply , my iMessage was working until I listened to voda domes instructions to do a network reset now it's says waiting for activation , I have reset the phone I have a SIM card change as Vodafone thought my SIM card was faulty and took the phone back to the shop and changed it for a new one , I've been on many forum sites and a lot of people are having the same problem as I can send a txt message bit can't receive them Andy account is set up correctly on vodafones side ... I am we'll and truly lost for ideas on what to do .

There is no Sim card in the iPhone you are trying to activate...
I recently called AT&T to have a out of contract iPhone 3GS using the IMEI #. I followed the instructions to unlock the iPhone (backup and restore), and after restore it should then be factory unlocked. BUT that's not the case, I get a message saying, There is no sim card in the iPhone you are trying to activate, Please disconnect and insert a sim card. This happens with/without a sim card, AT&T or otherwise. I have done some research and basically came up with nothing except that the phone (running iOS 5.1.1) may now be unable to read sim cards, something about the IMEI #... I'm not real sure. Any help on this would be very apreciated. Is it fixable or am I doomed?
Was the device previously hacked to be unlocked? If it was, it may now be bricked.
If no SIM card works in the device and it was not previously hacked to be unlocked, that would indicate the SIM reader has failed. -
I have tried everything and nothing works. When the computer starts it makes weird sounds and also when I try to eject it. Nothing Works! Please Help.
I had that happen with a MacBook. It turned out that the metal case above the slot was slightly bent down.
Putting a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and gently twisting it to move the metal case up allowed it to eject. Don't put it in too far you only want to bend the case not the drive.
The case can get bent down by picking it up with your thumb pressing down on the case above the slot. -

Sounds like your phone was hacked to use with your carrier. Updating it has relocked the phone to it's original carrier. You will not get the phone working again without a SIM from the original carrier.
