If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that isn't fully working. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

Check your mail server setup (mail>preferences>accounts>) choose your MobileMe account and select Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) dropdown box, select Edit SMTP server list, verify that each instance of the me server has a password, if there are more than one and you only have one account then delete the one without a password. -
Where do my files go after I have synced them to my iPad. I watched them transfer from my computer to my iPad but where are they now? For instance, I am trying to find my audiobooks but when I click audiobooks, it takes me to the iTunes store for audiobooks but I cannot find my books there either.

The phone looked great with no problems and I even got the box with the accesories, so I knew it was his... I then did the reset on the phone (erase all data... from settings) and it went through and activated and everything was good... I used the phone for about a month with no problems at all, even had my apple ID in the icloud and everything... well ios 7.0.6 came out and I used my computer to restore the phone, because I feel that the cord and computer gives it a better restore, it did great no problems, and when it went to the part where I went to activate the phone, I get a enter your apple id and password to complete activation... Wait... why is this up i thought, I thought I did everything like I suppose to to succesfully switch it to me, the new owner... but now its asking for some C******@yahoo.com.... I only have @gmail.com emails and none start with a C... The guy sold me the phone because he was switching to Verizon, and I tried to call him, and now the number is disconnected... I guess he switched to Verizon with a new number... Now im stuck with a paperweight that costed me $200.00... What can I do at this point... Please help me... I restored it to give it to my Step Son as I just got me the iphone 5... Thank you for ANY HELP in advance... Thank you again.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.

I saved a file on my mac on Word, but today when I went to review it, it said the "document could not be found" and then asked if i wished to locate the file myself, but when I went to do so it said the same thing again. How do I find this file?

I just used the disk utility to prevent the recover of deleted files...
It created a recovery folder which I tried to empty trash securely...i the got a message saying there are some locked items and I responded to remove all items...
It would not let me do that the file stayed in the trash until I changed the setting and just emptied the trash the conventional way..
Can anyone tell me why that is happening???Disk Drill, and all other file recovery apps for the Mac will recover every deleted file it can find on the drive. However, it should not have been at all possible to recover the ones you deleted with Secure Empty Trash. All files currently in the trash have every bit of their data overwritten 7 times with random data.
Were these part of what was recovered? Or just other normally deleted items? -

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for the original owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. No must contact the original owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the original owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.
IF the iPad is working ok but is signed in to another users Apple ID use the Settings app to sign out of the old ID and sign in to your Apple ID.
Settings > itunes and App Store > tap on the applie ID and sign out > sign in with your Apple ID.
you should then be able to download or purchase apps using your Apple ID. -
Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS: RDS Users are unable to delete files from their desktop

We are working with Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS. We also implemented User Profile Disks. This is all working fine without problems. The only issue I have is that normal users are unable to delete files from their desktop. They are getting a message:
you'll need administrator permission to delete this file, with the prompt for administrator access.
They can edit, copy, rename, cut and paste files. But they cannot delete a file from their desktop.
I checked the security permissions of the files on the desktop (for example a normal self-created PDF file) and the users are owner and have "Full Control" over the files.
I checked the file permissions and took a look under "Advanced", selecting the specific domain user and checked the "Advanced Permissions" and the user has the "Delete" option checked. So he should be able to delete the
file.
I am guessing this is UPD related issue, or something in GPO. But I already unlinked the GPO objects, that I felt could be the source of this problem, but without results.
Could someone give me a hint on where to look? It's kinda annoying to users, that they can't delete their own files.Hello Bria,
What you should check first, is the NTFS permissions on the User Profile Disk to begin with. See if the user has full control over the items that are in the UPD.
Also check the GPO's that are enabled for the user and computer account. You can check that by running: gpresult /h <path>\gpresult.html
There are two GPO settings that could prevent the user from deleting his/her own items:
User
Configuration\\Policies\\Administrative Templates\\Windows Components\\Windows Explorer\
Hide these specified drives in My Computer
Prevent access to specified drives in My
Computer
There might be other GPO settings, that block deleting items on the UPD, but can't think of any out of my head.
I can only think NTFS and GPO settings that might prevent the user from deleting items. In my case it was a GPO setting, that I didn't suspect. -
Attempted to update iTunes on January 23rd and it appeared to install properly. When I tried to open iTunes on January 24th, it would not open and gave me an error message that said "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)" I then tried to reintall iTunes and it again appeared to install properly but when it attempted to open, I was given the same error message.
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

The file's permissions might be '664' to you, but maybe the tomcat process's user is not in the correct group. -

To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.
