Hi, why can't I use the iMessage on my iPhone? I've already had my apple id email on it but it keeps saying "waiting for activation" always like that. No progress. Could anybody help me on this? Cheers

I have an old iPod Touch with old software that can no longer be updated:
iOS version 6.1.6
I've been searching for a solution to my iMessage login problem for months and tried everything from those frustrating links and all the tips from other users.
Here is what finally worked:
1) Settings > Privacy > Location Services > On
2) Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically > On
3) Reboot device until Apple logo appears
4) Settings > Messages > Sign In

It's waiting for you to reply to a confirmation email that was sent when you added that email address to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
The email is sent immediately. If you have reason to believe it was not sent, tap the blue circled i then either resend the validation email, or remove it. -
I turned off my iMessage on my iphone4 I tried turning it back on but it won't work it's not letting me turn it back on I have tired everything but nothing will work it keeps saying waiting for activation I don't what the problem is what do I do!

Back up, Erase all content and settings, Restore iPhone (downloads fresh iOS), restore from backup. Should fix. You will not lose texts, etc.

iMessage was working with me for 2days and suddenly it gave me the "waiting for activation message" until now I can't resolve this problem. I tried to change the network from 3G to WiFi, but still can't connect.

I had the same problem, and found the solution in other thread:
"This worked for me: (make sure Facetime is closed)
1. In Spotlight type in "Keychain Access"
2. There will be a certificate issued by Apple iPhone Device CA - This certificate was signed by an unknown authority. Delete this certificate (or move it to the desktop, out of the keychain access store)
3. Launch Facetime and login - this time there will be no error..."

have you tired going into your message settings and turning off imessage and turning off MMS and Send as SMS and turning back on.
