Hidden/Missing Text - Acrobat Pro

I have Acrobat 9 Pro for my Mac.
I created a PDF from a blank page. My document has an opening paragraph, and then a list of 100 + names. While I see my PDF is three pages long, the two and a half pages with the names are blank. Is this part of Metadata? I am a complete newbie.
How can I view the missing/hidden data (names) I typed in? I need to send it in an Email, and I want the person who receives the PDF file via Email to view the names too.

Even though Acrobat allows you to do that what you really should be doing is creating your list in a different application (like Word...etc) and then using Acrobat to create a PDF out of that.
There are less surprises that way.

Fuzzy text Acrobat Pro

Hello,
I was trying to create a PDF with very clear text. So I did the following, rather simple:
1. New file in Fireworks
2. Added some text and made text Arial
3. File export save as PDF with no compression for the options
Yet when I preview the PDF that I just created, the text is somewhat blurry compared to say
a PNG file that I could create directly from Fireworks.
Any thoughts?

Keep in mind all snapshots were taken on the same system, each window side-by-side. So, it is not a matter of turning smoothing on or off, since this would affect all documents at the same time. In fact, I tried different smoothing settings (including off), and this was not a viable solution.
I can clearly see a difference between the three examples. Text in Apple Preview is extremely clear. On Adobe Reader 9 it is quite clear, even if a bit heavier. In Acrobat Pro X it's even heavier, and very hard to read. More than text, I start to see confused ink stains (and have problems forming the sonic image of the words in my mind).
As for color, I guess you are right in suspecting there is a different interpretation of the embedded color profile. Acrobat Pro X (and Apple Preview/ColorSync) might correctly translate it (being a prepress settings), while Reader could be confused. I don't know where to choose a color profile in Reader 9, so I cannot test it.

Hi,
for some reason, the print option to print tiles of an over-sized document is not visible in my installation of Acrobat Pro version 8 for Windows.
Does anybody know how I can get this option?

Video graphics break up + hidden screen text - Macbook Pro Retina

I can't believe it - my brand-new Macbook Pro and I've got a graphics card error!
I've got blocks of screen bleeding into each other. Not just for a few seconds on refresh (that has been happening), but hard...
At the moment, I'm looking at gmail running. I'm sending a message. The background has bled across the screen in a 10cm x 10cm block. If I click on one of the areas below, it appears, but the square bleed overlay remains.
Looking in the system log, I can see these messages occur two or three times:
CGContextClipToRect: invalid content 0x0
Safari: _GetISImageRefFromIconRefInternal: could not reain image ref 0x25b1009 (err=-2500)
There's also one message:
Safari: Excpetion writing metadata: CoreData could not fulfill a fault for '0x7f878f222b60 <x-coredate:/8F950213-916F-402E-A760-2819703F7
When I refresh the screen it goes away again.
Similarly, when running facbook, the text will disappear. For example:

I'll only see:

A few seconds later, it'll jump and fill it in and I'll see:
This is a line of typing

Comments are missing in Acrobat Pro, but show in Reader

I've created several PDF files with Enabled Usage Rights In Reader. The files have several comments and Stamps added to focus attention.
If I view the files in Acrobat Professional version 8, the comments and Stamps are gone, no trace of them. If I view the files, however, in Adobe Reader, I see them.
What's going on? Is this a bug or do I need to do something to the files or Acrobat settings?

Never mind, the problem went away after I relaunched Acrobat.

very strange problem: simple TIF file (tried different bitmap formats) in a Word 2010 document (graphic before text) and a simple textfield -- not more.
Printing as PDF (with various settings) -- but the text(field) is missing in the PDF output.
Same behaviour in Acrobat Pro 9 and Office 2010.
With Word 2003 I did not have such annoying problems...
Can anybody help me? I'm trying and trying and ...

And I am having it too on Adobe Standard 9.4.4.
Text in text box from Word 2010 is not output in PDF (even not hidden). The text box background is copied over in the PDF. Reproducible. And if I put multiple text boxes on each other, sometimes a few or parts of characters appear.
I find Microsoft Save as PDF not an option, it has numerous worse bugs. Good to know that the problems also appears with Acrobat X. That save me an upgrade to test whether it has been solved by a newer release.

Adobe Acrobat Pro text box not printing and is hidden under box highlight.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.13. I am completing a form with text box throughout the document. I can no get the text box to printing and the text is hidden under box highlight. I have tried printing with the print feature 'Comments & Forms/ Document and Markups' with no luck.

It's doing that because you have field highlighting enabled. YOu can either turn it off or make the field read-only (if it's only used for display and not entry).

PDF files created in Acrobat Pro X for Mac will not print correctly on Windows - text is missing

I recently created a PDF file with pictures and texts in Acrobat Pro X. However, when I send it to my coworkers (who work on Windows computers), the printed file contains only images, and no text. I am using Century Gothic - a font that is installed on these Windows computers. When they open the files, they can see the text and everything exactly as it is meant to be. However, upon printing, the text disappears completely.
We are using a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer to complete these printouts. When I print from my computer (the Mac), the files print perfectly on this printer. However, when using the same printer, a Windows user cannot print the text in the PDF's.
Has anyone else run across this problem? I am thinking of trying to embed fonts, however it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference (since the fonts show up fine on a Windows computer anyways). Is there a known issue with printing PDF's on a Konica Minolta printer?

The archive format you used embeds all fonts, as does Press and Print type job settings. The standard job settings does not embed all fonts and that might be where the problem was.

Help - text boxes/highlighting hidden unless selected in Acrobat Pro 9.2

I am working Acrobat Pro 9.2. When I insert a text box, it disappears when I click somewhere else. I can only tell it's there If I hover over it - I get a black mouse arrow. If I click on it and select it, then I can see the text and border, but if I click anywhere else, it disappears. I've tried all the options and settings I can find. It is set to show, not hide, all comments and text boxes. Also, when I try to highlight regular text, it puts a little yellow, symbol above my text but does not highlight the text. When I roll the mouse over it, a yellow note pops up with the text I highlighted, but when I move the mouse away, nothing is highlighted. Again, I've tried changing all of the settings I can find related to highlighting but nothing works. I use Acrobat on other computers and have used both text boxes and highlighting without any problem. Is this due to a setting somewhere, or is there something wrong with my installation of Adobe? Something to check.
To have text selected by the Highlight tool placed into the annotation's pop-up:
Preferences > select Category "Commenting"
There are three panes of configuration options.
--| View Comments
--| Pop-Up Open Behavior
--| Making Comments
Tick the last option (Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups) in the third pane.
Play with the other options as you may find others that are very useful.
For form fields:
Preferences > select Category "Forms"
In the first pane (General), select "Show focus rectangle".
In the second pane (Highlight Color) select "Show border hover color for fields".

Linking text form fields in Acrobat Pro

I am using Acrobat Pro. I have successfully entered javascript that links multiple text fields so that when reaching the end of one field it automatically advances to the next. My problem is that if I am in the middle of a word it will split the word instead of carrying the entire word to the next line. How do I fix this?

I'm having a simliar problem except for some reason, if I am typing a word, the sentance will advance to the next field but will be missing a letter and looks like this:

There is a letter that disappears and I can't seem to find how/where to fix it. I think it involves something with the java code but I'm not sure...

Missing Comment & Markups Toolbar in Acrobat Pro 8

I had Acrobat Pro 8 (version 8.2.1) intsalled on my machine last week. I had been using Pro 7, but due to problems with it my IT folks upgraded me. At first, all was well. However, two days ago I went to highlight a document and the highlight tool was missing (I had made shortuts to it and other frequently used tools). Per Pro 8s' Help:
You can use the Highlight Text tool, Cross-Out Text tool, and the Underline Text tool to add comments by themselves or in conjunction with notes. The Cross-Out Text tool and the Underline Text tool don’t appear in the Comment & Markup toolbar, by default. You can add a highlight with a note or cross out text by selecting the text using the Select tool or Text Edits tool or and choosing that option from the menu that appears. However, if you’re marking up a lot of text, the specialized tools are faster and easier to use.
Choose Tools > Comment & Markups, and select the Highlight Text tool , the Cross-Out Text tool , or the Underline Text tool...
Comment & Markups doesn't appear in either View>Toolbars or Tools. Anyone have any ideas where it's gone to?

Yes, it's sitting in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\plug_ins. Reader's version's at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins. I have a theory, but not sure it's accurate.
As I mentioned earlier, I was having trouble with Pro 7, which is why IT installed Pro 8. However, they didn't bother uninstalling/rebooting the machine before Pro 8 was loaded, which is something that I always do on computers where I have Admin rights. I'm wondering if this latest Acrobat problem is in some way related to earlier issues that I had with 7...?
I'm going to try to see if Acrobat will do a repair with my limited rights and then restart the machine. Will post afterwards what I find.

Acrobat Pro XI V11.0.2 - Word 2010 to PDF conversion fails to generate header text

Hello,
Following the recent update to V11.0.2, the Acrobat PDF converter for Word 2010 fails to generate the output document correctly. It misses out the text box part of the Word header.
However, using Acrobat XI via the "Print to PDF printer" appears to generate the output file correctly.
System is Windows XP-SP3 with Office 2010 (and all current updates), plus Acrobat Pro V11.0.2
Example Word source and resulting PDF are available, if anyone can figure out how to use this web interface to post examples.

No, there is no change in behaviour on my Windows XP machines, nor would I expect there to be given that there has been no change until V11.0.3 was released.
Given that you’ve reproduced the problem, albeit on a different machine, it seems reasonable to assume that the problem is related to Acrobat. If you can reproduce the behaviour, then you should be able to fix it.
The problem still exists with V11.0.3. I look forward to it being resolved shortly.

Missing Text in Acrobat 6.0

I create large PDF documents from multiple smaller PDF documents for work. When I create a rather large document (over say 150pgs), some text on some pages go missing. I took screen shots to display what I'm talking about. It seems to be random letters from random pages, but if I create the document over again, it's the same random text on the same random pages, if that makes sense. Unfortunately we have a pretty old version of Acrobat Pro (I've been begging for an update, we'll see if I get it...)
The above is how the text is supposed to look, and does look when it is in a document by itself (this document is approx 4 pgs long).
This is what happens when it is in the large document (252 pgs, approx).
Anybody have any suggestions as to what's up or how I can fix it?

I am combining them in AA using File>Create PDF>From Multiple Files, Click "Add Files" and add them one at a time from their folder.
As far as fonts go, it looks like I have a few that say "Embedded", a few that say "Embedded Subet", and a few that don't say either way.
A lot of the documents I'm using come from our vendors in PDF format. The only document I create is the index of what is in the finished document.
I checked my version, I am running the 6.0.6 on Windows XP.

I can't read the text in my Acrobat pro fill forms fields

I used to be able to render text with my acrobat pro, now the function is missing. I can't read what people put in the fields I create in my forms if they don't fill it out with acrobat when they email them back. This didn't used to be the case. One month ago I could render the text. I had help from a tech at Adobe about a year ago on this and he changed my acrobat somehow so now I can't update it because it's been "modified". How can I make my text visible? Thanks!

Acrobat Pro XI - How to Modify Existing Alt Text?

My name is Pete Edwards and I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI [version 11.0.0.379] on a Windows 7 platform. I receive PDFs (typically several photos in a gallery-type format) from clients for upload and I run the Make Accessible Wizard to verify that all of the information is correct. Often I determine that the Alt Text for some images is incorrect but I am unable to make any edits to the Alt Text because the Wizard tells me "There are no figures with missing alternate text" [see insert]. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Pete,
One way to edit alt text is in the Tags pane. Along the left of the screen you may see an icon that looks like a tag. Mouse over text will read "Tags: View and edit structured PDF information". If it is not there then View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Tags. Once you open the Tags pane, locate the Figure tag with inaccurate alt text, right click it and select Properties. Alt text is on the Tags tab of the Object Properties dialog, and should be displayed by default.
Another way is to select the Touch Up Reading Order tool, then right-click the image and select "Edit Alternate Text".
