Hide Content Area Home link

How can we hide 'Content Area Home' link when Search Results are returned.
We are also trying to hide the 'Bulk Action' and 'Save Search' links. Any pointers? We are going live on Portal Content Areas this week and we need to get these things sorted.
Thanks for your responses.

In 3.0.9, you can customize Search Portlet. Create your own page
and then put the search portlets in it.

    Try this:

click the 'Style' tab click the style properties link ->
'Folder Layout' tab click on 'sub folder' edit link, unmark
    display region banner check box.

  • Hide Content Area in Advanced Search page

How can we hide some Content Areas in the 'Advanced Search' page (3.0.9)?
    Thanks.

You can create a test case based on the JHS Demo (shipped with JHeadstart 10.1.2.2) or the HR Schema (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/jhstutorial/index.html#setuphrschemaanddata). Please e-mail it to [email protected],
    * removing the cabo folder from the web root (public_html) before zipping it, it makes the zip much smaller
    * renaming the .zip file to something like .zipped, otherwise our mail server will not process it
    * including detailed steps to reproduce the problem.

  • Updating Content Area File Items

I have added an item (type FILE) to one of my content areas. This file is an HTML document named Oracle.HTML. The problem that I am having is that if I have to update the Oracle.HTML file and re-upload that file to the database, Portal is kind enough to rename the file (Oracle_0.HTML). If I do it again (Oracle_1.HTML).
This is problematic in a web environment where we have links to other documents.
I have set item versioning to NONE on the content area. I have also tried setting the item versioning to simple and then telling Portal to overwrite current version when updating the item. Neither of these help out.
Is there a way around this? Is there a way to directly load the BLOB into the database?
Help, I cannot have HTML documents in my content areas that link to each other!

    Mark,
You are hitting bug 1531318. A workaround to this bug is to zip the files you want to update. Add the zipfile to the content area, and unzip the files. In this way, the original file names are kept. This works for more files simultaneously, but also for 1 file at a time.
The bug should be fixed with portal 3.0.8.6.4 , but in my case, oracle customer support could send me two updated packages, which solved the problem.

  • Moving a folder, Linking between content areas

    I have 2 problems:
    1) So far we developed all our content in a single content area. We would now like to split the information into multiple content areas. The MOVE or COPY command on the folder only allows me to copy within a content area. I have hundreds of documents to move. Is there any way i can move a folder to a different content area?
    2) What is the best way to link a folder from 1 content area to a folder in another content area? I found that the FOLDER LINK ITEM allows me to connect only within a content area.
(I would prefer not to use an URL since the content publishers may not be able to construct complicated paths or the paths may change leading to broken links.)

    Suraj
    1) The only way to do this currently is to create an export of the content area, import it back into the portal and remove the duplicate content. We are planning a bulk action feature in a future release that would allow you do to selectively copy/move one or more folders into a new content area.
    2) Currently folder links are scoped within a content area; the only option is to link to the folder through a URL folder type. If you use the generated URL that contains the folder ID, you shouldn't run into any problems if the target folder is moved. I have submitted an enhancement request to extend the folder link to 'remote' folders outside of the 'home' content area.

How to change the default Layout Of the Error Page (to hide Home link)?
If a user want to view some page that he/she don't have access to view it, a error page with this message will be displayed.

The error page, have in the Upper right page, Home link and Help link.
My question is, How to Hide HOME link and HELP link in the Page?
I try to find the template of the page, but failed to do that.
    Can anybody help?..it urgent.
    Thanks.

Modifying the error page is not supported in the current release of Portal (9.0.2). You will be able to do this in the upcoming 9.0.2.6 release, planned for the end of May.

  • Document links and Tables in a content area

    Hello,
    1. I'm having problems with text items in a content area. I'm trying to make a link to a document in a text item but I only get a 'Page can not be found'. I know I have to change the httpd.conf file settings but so far I have not been able to set it up correctly. How should the excact line look?
In this case I whant to put all my documents in a folder tree in the 'portal_home' directory. For instense:MHC(root folder)/HR/employees.doc or MHC/Finance/Strategy.xls
    2. Why is it not possible to make 'invisible tables' in a text item? This way its possible to control the text mutch more and also (as in my case) include pictures within the text. If you want to produce a nice Intranet, the only way with portal (so far) is to make text items, becurse these are the only ones that you can display directly in a folder area and keep the navigation bar to the left. This way the users wont get lost in all the pages and folders.
The problem is this:I want to use the style I've made on all my folders (this way it's easy to change the apperance of all the folders in just moments) BUT if I put a table in the text item (html code) then suddenly portal takes the default settings of the browser instead!!? So if I have set my browser to Arial 15 this is the text I se instead of the text in my style.
Please , do anyone have a suggestion?
    I using Portal 3.0.7.6.2 (9iAS 1.0.2) on NT

I assume you are trying to put an anchor tag in a text item, that points to a document stored elsewhere in the Portal repository.
Use a direct access URL (search the online help for info on these) to construct the link to the document. You can use a relative URL by leaving out the "http://server.domain:port" part of the URL - e.g. {a href="/pls/portal30/docs/FOLDER/MYROOTFOLDER/MYSUBFOLDER/MyDocument.DOC"} - I'm using {} here instead of <> because real tags get messed up in these forum messages.
The Portal FAQ explains how to use httpd.conf to define a redirect directive.

  • Link to content area - portlet not available

I have a link to a content area in that I open from another application. Occassionally, I get a "portlet not available" message. Is this related to navigating directly to the document repository? It works most of the time.
    So 3 questions:
Is it acceptable to navigate directly to the content area? (My users then log on and store documents)
Am I getting the "portlet not available" message because of navigating to the content area this way?
Is there another reason I'm getting this message?
    Thank you

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • Link to Content Area from ASP page brings up default page

I have a link on an ASP to the content area. When the user clicks on the link, he/she is required by the portal to provide their username/password. After entering the correct information, the users are displayed their default page NOT taken to the content area.
    Any ideas?

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • XML Form - Link open in Portal Content Area

I have created an XML form which displays a list of images as links to KM documents (eg a Read More... link).
The problem I have run into is that any link that you click on opens up in a new window.
Is there a setting somewhere that indicates that all links should be opened in the portal content area, rather than in a new window?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Kind Regards
    Rasim

    Rasim,
    You can try doing this.
    Logon to Portal.
Click Personalize option on the top left corner and choose work protect mode.
Choose "Discard unsaved data (open page in same window)"
    Save and Exit.
    Logoff and relogin and check.
    Hope this helps.

  • Relative links within a content area

    Hi
Have anyone created a relative link, that is an anchor that
points to a resource in the same page or content area, that works
    with the Portal Pages?.
    Thanks

Can't be done. This is an enhancement we're looking at in a
    future release.

  • Links in the content area

Hi, we have a iview that have a list of links, the iview is diplayed in a page in the content are on the right.
Some of the links are open in a new window but other we want to display it on the content area, we want that the navigation panel will be equal but the link will be in the content area.
We want that the behaviour will be like when you push a option in the detailed menu navigation.
We have updated com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea.par component with
    EPCM.subscribeEvent('urn:myOwnNameSpace','searchResult', handle_searchResult_Event);
    function handle_searchResult_Event( evt ) {
    self.location.href = evt.dataObject;
    And from the iview:
    var searchURL= "http://"location.hostname":58700""<%=url%>" QueryString;
    EPCM.raiseEvent('urn:myOwnNameSpace','searchResult', searchURL );
But the behaviour is wrong the url is show in all layout including navigation, the navigation panel (detailed navigation...) have lost.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi Nash,
It is NOT true that Related Links always open in a new window.
It is very important to know where to change the Launch in New Window property.
Let's say I have a role R1, with W1, with I1, and I1 has a related link to I2. You need to do the following:
    Open W1.
Select I1 and open for editing.
Set the Display to Related Links. This screen shows the iView that is the related link (I2).
    Select I2 and click Edit.
Change Launch in New Window to Display in Content Area.
For some reason, when you select an iView to be a related link, this property is changed in the related item delta link. This seems like a bug.
You cannot change the property in the original iView.
NOTE: The above is for SP13. There may be some differences between SPs, but my assumption is that they work the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to remove category header link in a content area

    Hi,
I have a content area with two categories X and Y with some items in each.
When I add this content area on a page as portlet, the category heading is displayed with a hyperlink to X.
I do not want that category heading, I should only items in the content area and not the headers atleast remove hyperlinks to the category headings.
    Please help.
    Murthy

    Hi,
you can't change it in your code. I think the only option is to create a custom skin and then replace the resource bundle. Creating a custom skin for this is more work than the effect may justify. So to hide the string you can use CSS like the following
    .x2z{color:#D2D8B0}
which turns the font color into the background color
