Hiding Channels In The Mixer

I am using Logic 9 with Mackie D8B in HUI mode. I have played around with the mixer view modes to see what works best.
If I use "Arrange" view it shows my Tracks (Audio or MIDI), their Auxes and their Outputs and they update in the HUI display.
If I use "All" view I can turn off channel types and they update in the HUI display. However in "All" view leaving the MIDI filter on shows every channel of external MIDI devices available (eg Triton has 8 channels of MIDI open so these show as channels even though they are unused).
So is there a way to switch off the display of the Prelisten and Output Channels in "Arrange" view that updates in HUI?
And lastly if you use "All" view and switch channels off is there a way to store in the project this view selection?

I'm not sure about the first part of your question but once you have the track view set-up as you want it to look, store the layout as a locked screenset (ctrl + L) which you can recall at any time.

  • Removing Aux Channels in the mixer

Hello people, does any body know about this? I´m trying to delete an Aux Channel in the mixer that I don´t need anymore, I have checked the manual, etc and i cannot believe you cannot remove a Aux channel ... I mean it should let you arrange your mixer the way you want ... Thanks in advance for the help.

Hmm... As soon as I select an Aux track in the mixer, and then hit the "Delete" button, I'm given a prompt telling me that I'm about delete objects that are assigned to tracks in the Arrange Window.... Do I want to "Cancel", "Delete Anyway", or "Delete Used and Continue".
So I absolutely can delete an Aux track from the Mixer window, even one in use.
How are you trying to delete it?

  • How do I "activate" a new audio channel in the mixer?

It's late, I've looked high and low in the manual as well as the APTS book, and I can't figure out where to go next. Here's the deal:
I set up a User Template for simple songs that only has 8 audio tracks and 8 instrument tracks. Of course, now I want to add more audio tracks. No big deal, I just went and created 8 more audio tracks. There they are in the arrange window.
The problem is that they aren't showing up on the mixer. The strip for Audio 9 is blank save for the MIDI/Automation drop down and the Group settings. Same for tracks 10 and up.
How do I rectify this, get the pan, the fader, the inserts, etc.?
It's probably something so simple, but I can't seem to locate the exact secret panel to push.
    thanks,

Power Mac dual 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

It sounds like Logic is configured to use a maximum of 8 audio tracks, try:
Audio/Audio Hardware & Drivers/Max number of Audio tracks
Or run the Logic setup assistant and do it there.

  • How do I add the channel-name to mixed signals?

    Hello,
I want to save a XY-Signal to a tdm-File and import it into DIAdem.
So I merged the X- with the Y-Signal and connect the merged-signal to the "Write To Measurement File" VI.
In DIAdem I can see both signals but their name are "Untitled" and "Untitled 1". I don't know how to fix that.
If I use the low-level storage VIs, the other problem occures. I can give the X and Y-Channels my desired names, but they are in waveform - I want them as numeric channels in DIAdem.
So how can I give the mixed-signal the names
    or
how can LabVIEW say to DIAdem that it is a numeric signal?

    Hey Lukas,
To name your dynamic signals you can see this KB "How Do I Rename Signals in Dynamic Data?".  After you name your signals appropriately, you could then merge them together and write to a tdm file.  DIAdem will then be able to read the channel names from the tdm file.  I hope this helps.

Is there a chance to set the environment Channel Strips view like the mixer window?
The mixer has the new graphic view whereas the environment has the old LP9 graphic view

  • Help with re arranging the mixer channel slots etc

ok heres the problem. I got these files from a band and they are all scattered up and down the mixer. What I would like to do is move all the drum mixer controls for each drum track mixer strip next to each other and likewise with the other tracks that I would be working on closely with one another. I cant find out how to simply move these channel strips in the manual or the help file...what gives??
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

the mixer matches the way your tracks are arranged in the arrange window. move your tracks around in the arrange window by placing your curser in the track header and when the pointer turns into a hand move the track to where you want

  • How do I route my mixing desk so that it can control the mixer in logic?

I recently purchased a new set of monitors a mixing desk and a two channel usb device to operate them through my mac.I plugged the usb device into one of the usb ports and the monitors into output channel of the usb device, logic recognizes the device instantly and I can get sound through them.I then connect two cables(left and right) running from the main outputs of the mixing desk into the input channel of the usb device and then try moving the faders to see if it interacts with logics mixer but no joy.I have all the E Q's and the gains up but it seems no signals are running through it as none of the channel strip meters are lighting up,the mixing desk is a Behringer XENYX 1832 and the usb device is a UCA200 is there something I have to do in logic first to get the desk to interact like assigning it to logics mixer or going through some sort of preference menu or have I simply got it routed incorrectly? Any experienced advice would be valuable as this is the first time I have used a mixing desk.
    cheers

The faders on your mixer are for controlling audio going through it's channels. Nothing to do with Logic.
In order to have faders that control Logic, you must have a mixer or control surface capable of talking to Logic via MIDI. What you have will not do it.

  • How can i record 2 channels at the same time?

I want to record a mix using my decks. I would like to record the two channels from the two decks separately (so if I fluff a mix I can have another go at it).
How can I set this up? My mixer only has one channel output, so would I need a different mixer or is there a way I can rig it up with the Mac and GarageBand?
    iMac24   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

sorry if i wasn't clear. Yes it does have a stereo out put but my idea is to record the left deck as one track and the right deck as another. Then if I stuff a mix up I could pay back one track and record the second again.

  • Using Midi Reverb and chorus in the Mixer Window

When I have my 16 midi channels of my triton in open logic with midi data inside, and I turn the Reverb or Chorus button in the mixer window, there are no affects taking place. why?? Thanks

    Hi,
Does your Triton have the General MIDI effects onboard? If not, then that is why it is not working.
Your MIDI device must have the effects onboard. So please consult your Triton manual.
    Cheers

  • Mic doesn't seem to work in applications, but I can hear myself in the Mix

    Hello,
I have recently done a PC & OS upgrade.
My previous setup was on WinXp Pro (x86) with an Asus A8R-MVP (S939 with ATI/ULI chipsets) and AMD 3200+ processor. I bought my X-Fi at the same time as these components, and everything was working just fine.
Now I have upgraded to WinXp Pro x64 and an Asus P5W64 WS Pro (S775 with Intel 975X chipsets) and an Intel e6600 processor. I loaded everything up including a few games and everything seemed just fine.
... Until I decided to download TeamSpeak so that I could talk with my guildmates... I could hear them, but they couldn't hear me. The short story is that if I load the Mixer from the systray Volume panel and enable microphone playback, I can hear myself perfectly fine; which should tell me that the Mic & X-fi work.
... But if I load Teamspeak, Windows Sound Recorder, Creative's WaveStudio, etc... (anything that records), it's as if I'm muted as there is nothing there... silence.
I have tried the MSCONFIG "selecti've startup" method to uninstall and reinstall my driver CD and latest driver patch... I have downloaded and installed the latest April 2007 DirectX, I have double checked that the Mic is the selected recording source (+20db and cranked)... all with no success.
It's obvious that alot has changed around the X-FI (OS, mobo & CPU) but the problem seems to be a "software"/driver one... I'd almost have preferred that the Mixer wouldn't have let me hear my voice at all... then I could have nominated the Mic as the problem... but the mixer proves it to be good.
Why is the Mixer the only application that knows that there is sound on the mic channel to deal with?

unbelievable... the amount of RAM is the issue... I found a post (http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=8448) on an unrelated matter, but the user solved their issue under X64 by limiting the amount of RAM WinXP x64 was using by editing the boot.ini file.
The basis of the "trick" is to add " /maxmem=4096" to the end of your OS line, but I elected to copy the line and add it to a new entry so I could easily select which "mode" i wanted at boot.... like so...
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition - X-Fi tweak" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /maxmem=4096
amazingly this solved my issue... but now my system properties only report 2Gb instead of 4Gb... unacceptable!
When Can I expect a fix for this Creative?

  • How to add Prelisten channels to the Environment?

I think I deleted my Prelisten channels, and I can't figure out how to add a channel strip for Prelisten to the mixer or to the environment. I'd never used the Prelisten function yet since upgrading to LP 8; thus, I'm not sure what I did, but I think I deleted Prelisten somehow while cleaning up my last session.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

OK. I think I just figured it out. I just added another stereo pair, and the new pair is working as Prelisten. Sweet.
I'd deleted every unused channel strip, and in order for Prelisten to work, your song has to have at least one additional stereo channel strip, apparently.

  • Hidden tracks still apear in the mixer

    Hello,
After the updating to logic pro 8.0.1 the tracks I hide in the arrange keep apearing in the mixer.
By selecting "Arrange" in the mixer window it should only display the tracks wich are visable in the Arrange, or am I wrong here?
When I sellect "Arrang" in the mixer window the tracks are re-ordered exactly like the way they are in the Arrange. but the hidden ones stil apear.
I hope someone can help me with this.
    Geetings,
    Michiel

Hmmm. Yeah, that's what I'm seeing to. It hides it from the "Photos" area, and the Faces and other albums, but not from the "All Photos" smart album. It might be intentional; the "all photos" smart album may be intended to show ALL photos; hidden or not.
Note if your goal is to make the photo "secret," hiding the photo isn't the right trick.

  • Very Basic, need to copy right channel to the left channel.

My first time in this forum, i checked the FAQ and did a small search.
I sent a stereo mix from FCP as an 'Audio File Project' (not multitrack) to Soundtrack Pro. I want to copy the left channel to the right channel (replacing the right channel) so both channels have the same signal.
I've worked in many audio programs and it seems Soundtrack Pro just doesn't have the universal workflows as most (wavlab, audition, pro tools). When working with Stereo files I can't figure out how to isolate one channel at a time.
    Thanks for your time!
    Monty

Under the process menu you find Convert to Mono, the dialog that follows lets you choose which channel to use (or to combine them).
What's maybe confusing you is that the process creates a single file, instead of what you're expecting - a stereo file with identical information left and right.
In STP (and I'm sure in FCP as well) if you place a mono file on a track (pan it to the middle) and then export, the file it will produce will be a 2 channel mono file. So you just need to take another step to get where you want.
