Hierarchies over BEx query

this is my hierarchy in  BEX query
                           course(node id:1 header)
training grp 1                  training grp 2             training grp3----
level 1(node id 2)
-training grp 4(parent is grp 1,LEVEL2)
        - training type1(leve 3)
         -training type2(level1 3)
now in crystal reports i am able to achieve by grouping at training grp(level 2) and training type and summarizing the keyfigure .However, i am not able to get or display the training grp at level 1.so how to get it?
2) is there any way to group on trainig grp only on level 1?I tried to created group expert  and restrict with values in level 1, but it didnt work.
ie. i want  the same way when we run the report in bex analyzer where we are using the hierarchy in rows and key fig in clumns.
                                                   kf
trainig grp 1                               1000
   training grp 4                            1000
       trainig type 1                          500
       trainig type 2                         500

  • No exclusion for hierarchies in BEx query

I am trying to determine why a hierarchy cannot be excluded in a BEx filter.
We have a profit center with a hierarchy and sub-hierarchies under the main hierarchy.
I have a BEx query setup so the profit center is in the Free Selection area.  Under the Properties section the main hierarchy is set and the Activate Hierarchy Display option is turned on.
When I run the BEx report and access the filter, I can see the hierarchies and sub-hierarchies, but there is not option to exclude a sub-hierarchy (red dot).
Is this normal or am I missing something?
    Let me know,
    Bill

    Hello Yi,
I don't know about the message in the trace. Try running the query in transaction RSRT first. Check the BW statistics in table RSDDSTAT. If QDBSEL and/or QDBTRANS are 0, then there's probably some incorrect restriction in your query.
You can also do a SQL trace and check if the big SQL statements return some records. There have been cases where the database did not work correctly (see SAP notes).

  • How to find out which connection is used for access to Bex query?

    Hello,
in our BO 4.0 environment we have a lot of different connections to Bex queries.
There exist more connections to one Bex query.
For example to Bexquery1  we can access with 2 connections, connection : BX1 (connection specific for one query) and connection DEVcubes(generic connection to all cubes)
How can I check in Webi report over Bex query which connection is currently used?
    Thanks a lot !
    Rudolf

    Hi Rudolf,
Your requirement can be achieved using QueryBuilder.
Please refer to following QueryBuilder step-by-step post by Manikandan:
    http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/blog/2012/10/11/businessobjects-query-builder-queries
In bove post, Go to Universe Queries section -> All webi report using one connection
In case you dont know how to use QueryBuilder, please refer to following post:

  • Universes over BEx - LOV questions

In old school BOBJ when we build a LOV for an object you would normally use the ID (or Key) and then add the description into the LOV so when a user selects the long description actually the ID (or Key) is passed into the SQL and therefore would be more preformat.
However, what I am seeing when you build a Universe over  BEx query is that the user also is presented with the LOV but the two columns are reversed and they select the Description and that is passed into the u201Cpromptu201D.    Does BEx do something clever under the hood to replace the Description with the ID when executing the query or is it doing badly performing text matching ?

    Hi,
LOVs generated in universes out of BEx queries are using index awareness mechanisms.
The caption is displayed to the user but the key is sent to the database.
So there is no issue in SAP BW because the right key is sent to the server.

  • Using hierarchies from SAP BW BEx Query in BO Universe

    Hello,
I'm trying to use a hierarchy (e.g. a simple customer class hierarchy) which is a part of a BEx Query in a BO Universe. But until now I have not found a way to get a hierarchy from a BEx Query working in a BO Unvierse.
    1. Is it generally possible to use hierarchies in BEx Queries with a BO universe? (at the moment I can see all characteristics and keyfigures from the query... but I can't see the hierarchy levels for the characteristic)
    2. If 1) is possible: I want to use a hierachy variable to select a hierarchy depnding on the user who is using a report... that's not a problem in BEx. But: Is it possible to use this query/scenario with a BO universe? Does the BO universe update itself automatically if the hierarchy has changed in a BEx query?
I've tried it with SAP BW 3.5 and SAP BI 7.0. BO Release is XI 3.0. Unfortunatelly without result.
    Regards,
    Thorsten

    Hi Thorsten,
    1) Hierarchies are mapped in the same way as custom-made universe hierarchies. When a hierarchy is defined on a characteristic in the BW Query, Designer creates one hierarchical structure in the universe, with a subclass for each level in the hierarchy. The structure depends on the current BW Query definition.
    2) If the number of levels in a hierarchy changes in the BW query, you must update the universe. In the universe connection select *Use Single Sign On when refreshing
reports at view time* to allow the user to benefit from SAP SSO.
    Hope this helps

  • Bex query over sap portal

    hi gurus...
i d like to know if a bex query save some user customization when a user uses it on portal? if yes, how can i delete this customization for a specific user?
    regards
    joker

    Addy,
First you would have to ensure that there is SSO setup between BI and Portal.
You might want to follow these steps.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0a5216a-349c-2a10-9baf-9d4797349f6a
Once, you are done with it. It is a simple process, you will have to create an bex iview and give the query and you are done.
Also, have a look at [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0235c19-9493-2b10-64a5-8487b23a7a41] for creating various types of iviews.
    Good Luck!

  • Dates in BEx query coming into designer as a dimension with Char data type

This must be an old issue with a well documented work around ...   but alas i can find it !
When i build a universe over a BEx query with dates the universe designer builds them as Dimensions of CHAR type not DATE.  Therefore all WebI date functionality fails ..  eg sorting, automatic time hierarchies etc.
    What is the workaround ?
    Andrew Fox

Is the data source an InfoSet or an InfoCube?  It appears the date type object has not been implemented yet for Infosets.  Here's SAP Note 1370410:
    Symptom
Infoset date type objects (DATS type) are mapped as Character types in a universe based on a SAP BEX Query.
Prompts related to the Date field variables are coming as List of values instead of Calendar in WebIntelligence.
    Reproducing the Issue
Create a BusinessOjects universe on a Super Query which is based on a multiprovider containing an Infoset or
Create a BEx superquery directly on Infoset.
    BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1
SAP Integrated Solutions Kit XI 3.1
    Cause
This behaviour has been considered as an enhancement request and tracked under ADAPT01229917.
    Resolution
This enhancement request is scheduled to be addressed in Service Pack 3 (SP3) for BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 due approximately April 2010.
I did try a BEx query that uses an InfoCUBE as a source and the objects are coming into the universe correctly as dates.

  • OLAP universe on top Bex query

    Hi all,
I have a Bex query with a single mandatory Hierarchy variable. This hierarchy variable was created over GL Account infoobject. I have to different active hierarchies.
I generated a OLAP universe based on this Bex query.
The problem is it doesn´t generate any sub-class for hierarchy and for level objects.
I can't see any filter in OLAP universe GL account dimension.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    David

    Hi Ingo,
    Thanks for your help.
Yes, I can see both hierarchies in result set when I run the query in RSRT.
Both hierarchies are not time dependent and very simples.
I made a lot of test (working with query designer 3x, query designer 7) and to me it is a problem with integration kit.
There is no filter related to my hierarchy characteristic, nor level generated in OLAP universe.
    Hope your comments.

  • Drilldown in BeX Query Designer

    Hello,
I am new in SAP. I am having problem creating Drill down. I have this report where all the data is Transactional data. So I haven't created any Master Data. So I won't be able to use Navigational Attribute for Drill down purpose and I don't want to use Hierarchy. Is there any possibility of getting the Drill down in BeX Query Designer? Any help will be appreciated.
    Warm Regards,
    Debayan

    Hi Debayan,
first of all, what is your requirement to create a drill down?
A drill down in BEx query means showing additional information from report output. There are 3 ways to drill down a query in BEx
    1. Master data-Navigational Attributes
    2. Master data- Hierarchies
    3. Free characteristics
As you dont have any master data in the report (which is very strange) you can use the additional characteristics provided in the 'Free characteristics' to see how the drill down works in BEx.
    Please share your exact requirement.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.
    EJ:
    1) Bex Query Designer
    Colunms
    (Structure) ZSRT_123
                          - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Guayana
    >          (InfoObject)     0Product = 'XXX'
    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'YYY'
         - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Caracas
    >          (InfoObject)     0Product = 'AAA'
    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'BBB'
    Rows
    (Structure) ZSRT_456
                   (Key Figure)     Net Sales
    2) Universe designer
    (Class) ZSRT_456
    >(Measure)      Net Sale
    (Class)     ZSRT_123
    >(Dimension)      ZSRT_123
The universe dont translate the two Characteristic Restrictions in the structure ZSRT_123.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

  • Aggregation Issue when we use Hierarchy InfoObject in the Bex Query.

    Hi All,
I have created a bex Query having some Char's and one hierarchy Infoobject in Rowa and RKF's. I haven't used any Exception aggreagation Objects in RKF. but, when I execute a query in the Over all result it's showing the Exceptional aggregation based on the Hierarchy Object.
    Briefly Illustrated my problem here.
    OrgUnitHierarchy     EmpID       RKF
    Root                          1                1
    RootA1                     1                1
    RootA2                     1                1
    Root                          2                1
    RootB1                     2                1
    RootB2                     2                1
    Root                          3                1
    RootC1                     3                1
    RootC2                     3                1
    Over all result                              3
In the above example the Sum of the RKF is 9. but its showing only 3. When I Connect this with crystal report is the sum of RKF is showing 9. Please help me which is the correct one and why it's not aggregating child nodes?
Is there any Config needs to be done to aggregate all the nodes of the Hierarchy? Thanks for your support in advance
    Regards,

    Hi,
is this related to BEx Analyzer or BEx Web Reporting ? if so then I would suggest to post the entry into BEx Suite forum as this forum is for the SAP Integration Kit from BusinessObjects.

  • Can not create Webi report on a Universe based on Bex Query

    Hi,
We are using BO XI 3.1 (FP 3.4) with SAP integration Kit (same Patch Level) with SAP Authentication. We have a Universe based on a bex query and its connection is set to use SSO.
We have say two SAP users U1 & U2. Now "U1" is able to create webi reports but when we Logged in as "U2" and try to create Webi reports or try to refresh reports created by U1 it through an error ...
The database error text is: (CS) "Error on NumResultCols" . (WIS 10901).....
As per the "Authorization" section in BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solution Installation Guide we have provided this users with all the mention autherizations.
Any words over this will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,

It is highly probable that this is due to missing authorizations on the SAP BW side (not talking about the authroizations which are directly related to the BO/BW integration). I would recommend to ask your SAP Basis team to do a security trace while you are accessing the reports with the user, who gets the error. THey should look for failing authorization checks.

  • Unwanted LOVs - Universe on a BEx query on top of a Multiprovider

    BO XI 3.1
    BW 7.01
OLAP Universe on a BEx query
BEx query on top of a Multiprovider
Multiprovider on 2 DSOs; lets say DSO1 and DSO2
BEx query has a global filter for "INFOPROVIDER = DSO1"
BEx query has a user input variable defined for "Field1" (Field1 is present in both DSOs)
In BEx, F4 on Field1 variable entry gives the values of Field1 from DSO1. (which is what we want)
Expected LOVs for the generated prompt for Field1 in the WEBI report: Values of Field1 from DSO1
    Problem:
Actual LOVs returned in WEBI report: Values of Field1 from both DSO1 and DSO2
    Has anyone faced this before?
    Thank you

    Henry Banks wrote:
    > I have a suspicion the BEX property 'only values in infoprovider' isn't picked up/consumed by the BAPIs used by the MDX interface.
That is correct. The BEx properties do not carry over to the BO side. In Webi 3.1 here are the default selections for LOVs (as far as I know)
OLAP universe against BEx query on an infoprovider (Infocube, DSO, Multiprovider) - Only values in Infoprovider
OLAP universe against BEx query on an Infoset - Values in the master data table
    My understanding now is
OLAP universe against BEx query on a Multiprovider - Only values in ALL Infoproviders under the Multiprovider
    Henry Banks wrote:
    > Yes, this is confirmed by Note 1224318 - MDX: InfoProvider restriction for the member rowset

I have seen this note before and according to it you can set an RSADMIN parameter MDX_JOIN_CUBE_DIME and have more control over the LOVs.
MDX_JOIN_CUBE_DIME = "A" -> The read mode for all LOVs is Only values in master data
MDX_JOIN_CUBE_DIME = "I" -> The read mode for LOVs is either master data or infoprovider depending on the infoobject settings
    Henry Banks wrote:
    > It might be easier to have to 2 data providers for this document, if you don't already, for plan and actual;  or 2 seperate bex queries.
Well, that would work but it would defeat the purpose of having a Multiprovider for logical partitioning, wouldn't it?
