High resolution screen?

So again no hi-density screen on the 15"? Just the plain old 15" Apple resolution...Is it that hard to offer a 1600x1050 (or higher) screen as a build-to-order option (like many PC competitors do - it's not that the components are missing or hard to find).
I find this iteration of the MBP to be degrading toward the consumer market and far away from the "Pro" segment it is supposed to be (also see my "only 4GB max RAM?" post) for late 2008 standards.
I can only cross my finger and hope the 17" will get a better treatment when it gets refreshed (if it does not get canned...).

I do was very disappointed with the announcement today for the MBP. I was really hoping that Apple would step up to the place and bring us some real resolutions for the 15.4 MBP. Now I am thinking of waiting another 6-8 months for their next release of this product and just keep pluggin' away on my blackbook...
I hope Apple reads these forums.

  • Forum oddity, w.r.t high resolution screen.

I started a thread on Windows/ Photoshop entitled "CS4 with a high resolution screen". People have replied to this, according to e-mail direct response. However, it is not on the list of forums, and neither does it appear on 'search'.
To repeat: we have a high resolution HP LP 3065 screen, which supports up to 2560 x 1600 pixels. At this resolution, images are still less than print size, but CS4 is essentially unusable because the menu text and other icons do not scale. Does anyone know if it is possible to manage this silly interface to allow the user to see what they are doing? Is there even a visual disability option? Even MS Office 2000 - ten years old - allows "large icons".
If not, I think this is another way in which CS4 is in fact worse than CS3, which (mostly) used the Windows UI and which was therefore considerably more flexible. The screen in question is supported by dual DVI connections to an Nvidia FX3700 card - a CUDA multiprocessor device optimised for 2D images and CAD - and an eight processor, 3 GHz machine. With all of this processor power, CS4 is still much slower than CS3 on a single processor laptop. The paint follows the pen by several centimetres, like early Photoshop on a pre-Pentium processor.

I started this by saying that through an oddity of this forum software, my original thread had vanished from the list. Exactly the same thing happened to this one, which i had to find through searching the forum list. The previous one vanished completely. One appears to get a different list if one comes in via a direct URL or via support > Forums > windows: an .asp error, presumably, but Adobe please note.
Someone asked why use a high res screen. If you work on a large image, you either operate at the pixel level - a plate on a table top if you are at 1020 x 768 and working with a 20 megapixel image - or you shrink the thing down to fit. In the latter case, each pixel that you see is, depending on the native image size, an average of a large number of adjacent pixels. In the case of a 24Meg image and the above screen size, each visible pixel is an average (or however Adobe calculate it) of a bit over 20 pixels from the native image. If you look at 2560 x 1600 you are still seeing a composite, but of a quarter fewer source pixels per point. If you look at the natve image as 'actual pixels', the 'dinner plate' is four time bigger in proportion to that of the SVGA image.
That said, imagine the layers pallet in which one layer has, let's say, a football set against an group of players , P/shop users will expect to see a black blob representing its position in the layer. At high resolution, however, the blob is represented on the screen by a patch that is smaller than a full stop on a page of type, and essentially invisible from 150 cm from the screen. Thus: squint, lean forward, mutter angrily.
Why can one not set the icons and the ephemeral facilities such as the layers pallet to be any size you want? It is really very silly.

  • Resolution problems with Adobe Reader XI using high resolution screens?

    Hey,
I am using the new Samsung Ativ Book 9 plus with a high resolution screen of 3200x1800 pixels. Unfortunately Adobe Reader XI shows menu bars in minimal sizes and I can't find any way to change this.
Does anybody know if there is a solution for this problem? I don't wanna change the screen resolution just for using that software.

    Hello nordlicht.22
1024x768 screen resolution is supported resolution for Adobe Reader XI.

  • Replacing MacBook Pro Screen with higher resolution screen?

I bought a MacBook Pro 15" today which has the lower end screen resolution.  I originally wanted the higher resolution screen but the guys in the shop said they didn't sell them in the shops, only online, but since I wanted one before I headed off to France on Monday for two months, I decided to just go for the lower resolution, which I was told would show no real visible difference.
My question is: if I wanted to, would I be able to upgrade the screen to the higher resolution screen at a later date should I decide I was sick of this resolution?  I've only just started the computer for the first time now really, but have noticed that text is not as crisp as it was on my old vaio, which is disappointing, but I'm hoping I'm just being slightly OCD and the comparison will fade in time.

An independent repair shop wouldn't have access to order parts - so your only source is either an Apple Store or an AASP. If you want to try to DIY, you might be able to find the part at www.ifixit.com.

  • Photoshop Font Sizes too Small on High Resolution Screen

On my Toshiba Satellite P55T 4K the Photoshop fonts and tool menus are so small that they are very difficult to read.  I have set the UI fonts to the largest size, but they are still way too small. Is there a way to further increase the font and tool menu sizes?

You must have a very high resolution screen, also called HiDpi.
If you have Photoshop CC 2014, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Experimental Features and checkmark "Scale UI 200%"
If you have CC, CS6, or below, there is no way to scale the UI as of yet. There may not be. These products are no longer being updated.
At best I can recommend reducing the resolution down to around 1400 px horizontal. That's not the native resolution and defeats the purpose of having a Hidpi screen.
So only thing left aside from returning the laptop, is to work with a large external monitor, or for $10/monthly, join the Photography Plan and you can use CC 2014 and the 200% UI.

  • Satellite L650: Is it possible to get higher resolution screen?

    L650-1CH 15.6", 1366x768.
    ATI HD5650 1GB
Hardware enthusiast, so please don't feel expected to dumb things down for me.
Is it possible to get a higher resolution screen than the stock one, or one with better colour / contrast?
I've always been annoyed at how washed out the stock screen on my Toshiba looked. Recently the screen cracked, so I figure now is the best time to look at options.
Google has given me very little information so far. I've checked up pricing on screen replacement, with the part being around 60 and the part + service averaging 120, but that most likely leaves me with the same or inferior screen quality.
I would hope to find something more suited to movies / games and in 1600x900 if possible.
Any pointers as to where I should begin my search?

    Hi
    > Is it possible to get a higher resolution screen than the stock one, or one with better colour / contrast?
Yes this should be possible since the graphic card should support higher resolution.
The notebook supports the 15.6" (HD) TFT display.
You need definitely the same size display.

Hi the fnt size in the menu bar is too small (unreadable). How can I increase the font size. I have a new Samsung PC with high resolution screen.

You must mean Photoshop Elements 11, not Photoshop.
There is no ability to change the size of the menu font in PSE 11.
    note to mod:
Please move to the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • How to make a high resolution screen capture?

    Hye,
I'm trying to make high resolution screen captures in Maverics.
On earlier systems, one could use Quartz Debug which had a slider that could alter resolution of the capture app.
Now on Mavericks this option is gone, it only allows Retina-like screen resolution for non-retina macs, but on my 27" imac, images look really blurry...
So any way to get the job done?

  • Lightroom 2.1 slow at high resolution screen setup?

Does anybody have the same problem at high resolutions like mine 2304x1440.
Lightroom become extremely slow, at 1:1 you can't use any tools like crop, heel etc.
There is delay between mouse gestures and actual movements of tool or picture at screen. I checked CPU s only 60% loaded.
I have AMD Quadro core CPU and 4 Gig, ATI redon 3200 under WinXP.
Is it be because of graphic card or other reasons(CPU,OS,Mem...)?

    John,
I have had the same problem. I don't know why. Sometimes, when I go to make an adjustment and I click on one of the sliders, it will take seconds before it responds. This is not a problem that I had with prior versions of Lightroom. If anyone knows why this is happening, I too would like to know.

  • CS6 on High Resolution Screen Windows 8.1

    Hallo,
    I am using CS6 on a laptop with a 3200x1800 Screen.
Wonderfull for pictures  -  But, while Win8.1 enlarges the icons and menus in standard appclications all the icons in the CS UserInterface are so tiny it is hard to find them.
Is there a possibilty to enlarge them?
    greetings

Same problem here. I just got a beautiful Yoga laptop. It's quick and has a beautiful screen. I have both Adobe CC and CS6. I really prefer Dreamweaver CS6 over Dreamweaver CC for a number of reasons. Some of them are things that Adobe decided to take away from CC. I've been experimenting with different settings of screen resolutions and text sizes. In CS6, the menus are too tiny to read. However the text on the Web pages I'm working on is huge in Design view - and the layouts fall apart. I haven't found a resolution and text size combo that works.
CC is just a bit better. However, the on the menus looks like it's bold that's a bit out of focus.
Now, really, Adobe. Doesn't it stand to reason that designers would have high res screens. What are you thinking? We need some support here - for CS6 and CC both. If the other software can manage - why can't you?

  • Make more readable screen text size in palettes on high-resolution screens?

Does anybody know of a way to make the text in palettes in Creative Suite programs more readable?
From my experimenting, the size never changes after messing with Windows "DPI setting" in the Control Panel>Display dialog (96 dpi, 120 dpi, custom); and one of my users needs to have the text be more legible if we're going to upgrade to higher-resolution, higher quality screens.
Buying certain magnification programs is apparently out of the question, since I made the stupid mistake of buying 64-bit computers (although I haven't researched all the magnification programs yet). Even so, they seem likely to be rather clunky to use, only magnifying where your mouse points, rather than certain sections of the screen only (like the palettes in InDesign or Photoshop), or programmatically enlarging text that Windows won't touch.
Do newer versions of CS adjust per Windows Display instructions? (We're on CS 1.) Or do they always remain at the same 72-dpi-looking size, per Mac? (That's my current theory about how it's working.)
I could always downgrade the monitor's displayed resolution, but for some reason that wasn't desirable...
Sorry, I try to keep it short, but there's always so many possibilities and information to pass along. Thank you in advance.

I think the Photoshop UI text adjustment must be in newer versions.
I'm not seeing it (I could be missing it...)
I'll fill out the form you mention. Good idea.
    And thanks for the responses.

  • X200s not anymore with high resolution screen?!?

    Hi,
I just checked the U.S. lenovo site and they do not sell the X200s with the 1400x1050 LED screen anymore.
Does anyone have a clue about the reason?
    best,
    Volker

Only the X6* tablet had 1400x1050 (SXGA+), this is a 4:3 format resolution. Do you mean 1440x900 (WXGA+)?

  • Elements 12 is not compatible with newer high definition, high resolution screens.

After many, many hours of troubleshooting on my own, asking questions and time on the chat, Adobe finally told me that Elements 12 is not compatible with my screen. No apology, no offer of refund, no indication when a fix might be available.

Looks like it exceeds PSE 12 System Requirements.

  • MBP High Resolution Screen

There are more pixels but in real world, what are the advantages?
    - Since there pixels, are windows smaller and you have more room?
    - are is the picture sharper?
    - what about color etc?
    - worth $100.-?
    TIA

The display will appear sharper but text particularly will be smaller and might be a concern with the already small fonts used in some of the productivity applications.
Only you know if it's worth the increase cost or you would prefer the small pixel count screen.
