Highlight color during find in pages

This has been bugging me for a long time. How can I change the highlight color when I do a find in pages? It is really hard for me to see what is highlighted. I need it to jump out at me more than the very subtle highlight that I currently see. I have this problem with other mac apps sometimes, but have the worst problem with pages. I searched through the forums, my apologies if this is already answered. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

When you use the Find dialog that window remains the active one so that the highlight in the document, which is not the active window, appears gray. If you switch to the document window, the highlight color should then appear as the color you have set in System Preferences > Appearance.
If you're wanting to find successive instances of something, switch back to the document window & use ⌘ G to move to the next instance.

  • Safari pdf find text highlight color

Using Lion 10.7.2 and Safari 5.1.1.
The highlight color of searched (cmd+F) text follows the System Preferenes Appearance highlight color for normal web pages. For PDF documents, however, when searching for terms, Safari doesn't hand off, what, "focus" properly to the PDF doc to use the System Preference highlight color. Instead, it uses a very-hard-to-see light grey color. This article alludes to the issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/3699776#3699776
The Tab-key workaround in that article doesn't work for Safari. Instead, one must physically click the PDF document of the desired highlight color will never be used.
    Please fix this. Thanks!

I don't know if this can be done or not.  Alternatively can you change the background color of that document (maybe using the Accessibility preference.

  • Highlight color when using Find 2

    Hello
I have the same problem as mumbles (in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2257163&#2257163): When I do Find in Safari and look for a word, it highlights the search term in a very light blue that I can barely see. — Just that I don't want to have the highlight color set to, say, strong red systemwide, since this is useful with the find command on a web page, but bothersome in all other cases. Is there a way to change this in Safari only? (I'm afraid there isn't, for it seems tied to the system, but maybe I'm as wrong here as I often am … )
    thanks a lot

    Hi Nikolai
I know what you mean - one tip is instead of clicking the next button from the Find box, press enter on your keyboard. For me , this highlights the word rather more visibly & you can use the shortcut Command G ( Apple key + G ) to search for the next instance.
I have the system highlight colour set to a muted Orange & the overall appearance set to Blue & find this to be an excellent compromise - although clicking the Next button still gives a highlight in some impossible-to-see grey/blue.
Is there a way to change this in Safari only
Not so far as I know - sorry.

  • Change highlight color in pages

    Hey guys and gals,
Would anyone happen to know whether changing highlight color in Pages is possible, and if so - how?
I searched all over and found no satifsying answers.
    Thank in advance!
    Eran

It looks like the Highlight (background) color can only be yellow.
The best work around I can find is to change the text color itself which may work like a highlight of the text (like red, green or blue) which makes it stand out.  Maybe that will help?
Format Inspector (the brush) > Style > Touch the Size and Font item > Color > swipe to see options.
Note even there you can't go beyond predefined colors but you can make text stand out.

In Pages 5.0 How do I change the highlight color?

Oh!  I understand now.  See screenshot below.  It's called "Character Fill Color":

  • Find feature Highlight Color and End of document alert

I am using Version 2.0.7 and noticed two problems with the text find feature that I hope someone else knows about a configuration setting or work around that will resolve the problems.
    Thanks,
Problem 1. Found search characters are highlighted in gray. This color is difficult to spot if not looking straight at the screen or if only a few characters are in the search. Is there a preference setting that can change the color of found text searches?
Problem 2. When reaching the end of the email, there is no alert message to ask if the find function should search backwards. Clicking on the find Next button causes the process automatically loop back to the top and begin again.
Is this a bug or the way the function works?

Thank you for responding to my query.
I performed the following additional analysis and confirmed the behaviors still exists. Please let me know these conditions can be duplicated.
Problem 1 - highlight text color
    A. Checked preference settings as recommended and confirmed Highlight Color is "Gold".
    B. Opened mail message, selected Edit>Find and typed in the search characters.
    C. Clicked on the next button in the Find window.
    D. Results is that the found text highlight color was "Grey" in the email message. What would be expected is the found text color to be "Gold".
Problem 2 - End of message foud text alert.
I read the initial description and found that this problem was misstated. So I am offering the following script to illustrate it:
    A. In the find box select a word or combination of characters that does exist in the message.
    B. Click on find button.
    C. Listen for the audio alert advising there was no match.
    D. Change the Find Box selection to a word or group of characters that occcurs multiple times in the message.
    E. Click on the Next button in the Find text window.
    F. Note that the find process stops at each occurence of the search characters. (as stated in problem 1 the highlight color is "Grey')
    G. Keep on clicking the Find button. The result is that there is no end of message alert. Unlike the alert in step C, the find process automatically loops back to the first match and continues as long as the Next button is clicked. What would be expected is an end of search alert for both unfound and found conditions.

  • How to change the Find highlight color

I am trying to find out if there is a way to change the Find Highlight color in office 2013.
Every time I search for a word or anything it uses a light yallow to highlight that line or word, and I woudl like to replace the yellow with like a teal or a green or some other color that I'm not using already in my Word document. This way I can find out
were it is telling me It is because I have a lot of stuff already highlighted yallow, and when I click find and search for something in the Navigation window and it finds it. It also puts it as a lighter yellow and it confuses me.

    Hi,
As far as I know, we can't change the highlight color when using Find in Word. The highlight color is fixed.
As a workaround, you can try to use Advanced Find instead which will show the search result with a different color.

  • How do I change the highlight color?

When I'm working on my document in Pages, I often do a Search (command-F) to quickly find a word or phrase that appears somewhere else in the document. It works great, but it highlights the word/phrase in light gray, which I have trouble seeing. Is there a way to change the highlight color to yellow, or any other color, making the word/phrase easier to see?

You can find it under the Pages menu > Provide Pages Feedback. That takes you to the same page as this link.

  • Changing the Preview highlight color

When you search a PDF file with Preview, you get a list of results in the drawer. Selecting a result goes to that page and highlights the search text. However, the highlight color is a dull gray and is often very difficult to locate quickly, especially on a page full of small text.
Does anyone know if this color can be changed, for example to imitate the easily visible color used by the Firefox find command? There's no obvious preference for this, but perhaps there's something hidden in the preference file?

Preview follows the system default, which sets the highlight color of inactive windows to gray and the active window to the color set in Appearance.
When you search, you can use Tab/ShiftTab to toggle focus between the drawer (containing the search instances) and the main page display pane.

  • ICal highlight color too dim

I can barely see the pale color of the iCal cell for the date.  I remember this being a problem for a long time with iCal.  You can't see the highlight color in the day cell.  I have the same problem with the search or find.  The highlight color is so pale it is hard to find in a page of text.
I vaguely remember there was a way to darken that color in terminal, but I don't remember any details.
Can someone help fix this.  This is a bug that Apple seems to ignore year after year.
    Thanks

I have a similar problem with iCal, and always have. It uses light grey on a white background for days and hours. Can't see the days well, but especially the hours, can't discriminate those at all.  Am not sure why more people haven't complained, or why this hasn't been fixed before this.
Maybe it doesn't show up on iMac's which have their own monitors built in. I use a MacMini, with a Samsung monitor. Have played with the Samsung monitor's settings, but can't fix the problem that way either.
Did check my Contrast setting in System Prefs, and it's Normal, and all the way to the left.
I think Apple needs to fix this. I'm not sure there's anything the end user can do.

  • New html tag highlight color

Can someone tell me the name of the css selector that is the new html tag highlighting that Edge Code just released.  I need to adjust my theme css file because the new pale blue highlighting makes it difficult to read the tag (ie: divs, script, li, ul's, ect..). I assume it's new because it was not highlighting the html tags before I updated.

I dont get an index.html link when I paste http://localhost:9235/ into chrome.  I just get a link to (/devtools/devtools.html?ws=localhost:9235/devtools/page/12c31149cd31cce235fc4998180602cd) which opens a blank html page with nothing inside the body tag.
I changed the .cm-tag css property but that doesn't actually change the highlight color, it just changes the default non selected state. The tag in which I'm trying to overwrite has a hex code of #cfead6 which I can find no reference to in the program files or any theme css files. The image below is the highlight that occurrs when the cursor is inside the html tag.

  • How can I change the highlight color of grid view folders in the dock?

Using OSX 10.10 Yosemite, the highlight color for a folder in Grid view is barely noticeable.
Can you spot the highlighted icon below?
I've grown accustom to clicking the applications folder in the doc then typing a few letters to get me close to the app I want- now it takes an extra few seconds for me to visually find the icon that got highlighted.
Is there a way to change the highlight color here?

I would open up the grid spacing slightly so everything does not run together. In System Preferences > General, try setting Highlight color: Red. This won't change the grey selection background around the icon, but it will turn the background behind the icon text to red. That stands out. However, the collateral effect is that text you select in this editor, and other OS X applications, will now have a red background too. Changing colors will require a killall Finder in the Terminal. Actually set mine to #ffff00 which is a vivid yellow, which is more practical when selecting text in a document.

  • IWeb can't find previous pages after transfer/reinstall

I recently got a "new" (read: my husband's previous) MacBook Pro and lost some of my files/folders due to a problem during the transfer.  I had to reinstall iWeb and now it won't find the pages I had created and published previously with it.  The pages are in their own folder (SuzWebPages) as I had to manually restore them instead of letting the computer copy everything over.  When I open iWeb, it can't find the pages.  I have looked through other help topics on this and tried moving the SuzWebPages folder to the iWeb folder in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and renaming it to a .sites2 file, but iWeb still doesn't see the folder/site/pages and opens with the choose a new page screen.  When I right-click and choose Open With on the actual pages, iWeb is grayed out.
I went from Yosemite 10.10.1 to the same version.  I had to reinstall many programs which did not transfer or were corrupted, such as MS Word, Safari, and Mail, but all were able to find my previous files although none retained my information.
Any suggestions?  I can provide any further information needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Suz

The file/package you need to have for use with iWeb is called Domain.sites2.  The folder containing your published webpages is of no use with iWeb.
If you still have your old Mac go to your Home/Library/Applications Support folder and look for the iWeb folder. It will have the domain file you need.  Copy the iWeb folder to the same location on your new Mac and launch iWeb.
Otherwise you'll have to rebuild your webpage from scratch.  If you have to do that I suggest you switch over to a new web development application as iWeb has been discontinued for about 2 years.
One app that many have migrated to because it is so like iWeb in its user interface and how it works (but with many more features) is EverWeb.  There's a 30 day demo version that you can try to see if you like it.  To recreate your website with it you can copy text and photos from your existing site and paste into the EverWeb version.
For other potential iWeb replacement apps search the iWeb forum for "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement".
