Highlighted Panel CSS Styles Now Absent in Vista

Greetings -
I have just upgraded to a new HP Vista computer and really
miss this helpful feature from 2000 Professional:
When arrowing through my document on the screen in DWMX, the
css panel would highlight the style accordingly and simultaneously.
It was really convenient to travel through the document and see the
codes at a glance by observing the panel.
Now in Vista there is no such highlighting, so I must look
closely at each line to see what style is applied and where it
begins or ends. I don't see any such feature setting in the
preferences and wonder how I got that to occur before, it was an
accident, is being blocked by Vista, or just what.
Can anyone direct me how to get the highlighting back,
please? Boy do I ever miss it -- and did not realize just how much
I relied on that helpful feature until it has shown up missing now.
Thank you from Catherine.

You are using DMX? That is version 6.x?
It had no such feature as I recall.

    Did you save your styles in an external stylesheet? If you
    did, you
    must link this sheet to your pages. Open one of your pages
    and make a
    link to your stylesheet.
    In the header section of your page you can put the following:
    @import url("path to your stylesheet");
    or: <link rel="stylesheet" href="path to your stylesheet"
    type="text/css">
    Repeat this procedure for all your pages.
    After you have done this, you can apply your styles to the
    pages with
    the property inspector.

  • Confused With Dreamweaver CC and the CSS Styles Panel!

    Hi all
    I'm relativley new to the CC but I'm having alot of fun learning how to use dreamweaver, But now comes where I get confused. I'm learning from Lynda.com "Dreamweaver and WordPres Core Concepts" and as I follow the tutorial regarding the actual structure of wordpress themes I have different panels to the tutour.
    As you can see from the pics I have a different set up and this makes it very hard to follow the tutour.
    I have tried the windows menu but there is no CSS Style Panel, plus I have media, sources, selectors, and properties. Apparently the tutour is also usin CC.
    Can someone please guide me on how to learn dreamweaver with up to date tutourials....

    I'm not familiar with the Dreamweaver/WordPress videos on lynda.com, but if the tutorials are showing the CSS Styles panel, it means that it was recorded on Dreamweaver CS6 or earlier.
    The CSS Designer panel replaces the old CSS Styles panel in DW CC. Since you have access to lynda.com, I suggest that you take a look at James Williamson's CSS Designer overview in Dreamweaver CC Essential Training.

  • CSS Styles Panel frustrations

    Is it me or is the new CSS Styles panel so much harder to use? It shows way too much now and it slows me down when wanting to quickly change CSS elements.
    Really missing the previous Properties panel from CS6. It only showed the properties that I actually used and was much more compact and easier to work with.
    Adobe should have given users a choice of what type of style panel to use in CC.
    Does anyone know if there's a way to get back the old Properties panel in CC? I'm sure not the only one voicing this complaint...

    You can't bring back the old one as it stands now. Filing an official request for it here may help though:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    It is something that has come up a lot recently.
    Here is some info on working with it: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/css-designer.html
    If you want it to be a bit more compact, you can get away from the two column space eater by dragging th right edge of theCSS Designer window to the left until the columns stack instead. Not the greatest "fix", but better than the two column beast in my opinion.
    EDIT: You can also click the heading of each sub section within the panel to minimize them individually if you aren't using them. Again, not the best "fix" but better than filling half your screen with css attributes.

  • CSS Styles Panel - Refreshing

    I've recently started using Dreamweaver, and am learning
    using the Tutorials on-line.
    I was successfully following the CSS design tutorials,
    However now, whenever I edit a document (or create a new
    one), the CSS Styles panel "
    unloads" and tells me that I have made changes to the code,
    and "must click Refresh or press F5"
    This did not happen before / yesterday.
    Is there a setting somewhere which has been switched off?
    This is annoying since it means that I cannot use the
    predictive text features of Dreamweaver
    like typing "<div " and seeing the options.
    manually editing the CSS file still provides the auto-text.
    Thanks,
    Rem

    Adendum;
    It's also happens to the Tag panel, and Properties.
    This even happens if no style sheet is linked

  • Drag and Drop in CSS Styles Panel

    So, I am going through Dreamweaver CS5 Classroom in a Book. In lesson 6, pages 106 through109, it tells you to drag and drop rules in the CSS Styles Panel into a certain order.  I can't seem to get it to work for me.  Am I missing something?

    What do u mean by saying this?? Drag & Drop is possible for
    components example Jtree , jtable .These are placed on containers like JApplet, Applet or frame .
    So the answer is yes !
    there is a seprate package devoted to Drag & Drop.

  • [svn] 3148: You can now use CSS styles to set the default text format for TextView.

    Revision: 3148
    Author: [email protected]
    Date: 2008-09-08 15:01:15 -0700 (Mon, 08 Sep 2008)
    Log Message:
    You can now use CSS styles to set the default text format for TextView. It no longer has any formatting properties. It supports the entire set of Gumbo text format styles.
    SkinnableComponent and Group now also support all these styles. However, skins such as ButtonSkin, TextInputSkin, and TextAreaSkin continue for now to specify instance styles on their TextBox, TextGraphic, and TextView, in order to give them a Gumbo look rather than a Halo look. So if you try setting, for example, the fontSize on the Application, it doesn't yet affect the text format of a Button, TextInput, TextArea, etc. unless you remove the instance style in the skin.

  • My CSS Styles Panel in Dreamweaver won't show list of styles.

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm having a heck of a time getting my CSS Styles Panel to show the styles from my attached style sheet. Yesterday it worked as usual and today it doesn't. I feel like I've tried all of my options. Usually I work in 'All' instead of 'Current' so I can see the entire list and not have to reference the actual CSS page. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Also, even though I have an attached style sheet, every time I made a new style it puts it in my HTML page. So that's probably related as well.
    Also, this is the code link that is in my HTML:  <link href="Alto.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    So, How do I get this panel to show the list of styles? <--That I can click an edit without going back to the CSS page.
    Thank you!

  • CSS Styles Panel and DIV Draw tool

    In Dreamweaver CS6 Creative Cloud, how do I access the CSS styles palate/panel and is there a DIV DRAW tool, or do you resort to the tracing tool to draw website layouts?

    DW is not a graphics app.  You cannot draw layouts on screen.  You need to use CSS code to create the basic layout and HTML for your structure.
    You may find it helpful to jump start your projects with one of the pre-built CSS Layouts in Dreamweaver CS6.
    Go to File > New > Blank Page > HTML > Select one of the Layouts in the 3rd panel and hit the Create button.  SaveAs filename.html.
    Learn to use CSS floats, margins and padding to align elements.

  • Site recently hacked, now FF won't display css style - other browsers will

    So my site beaq.org.au was recently hacked - a phishing attack. A .php file was uploaded to the css directory it seems. My host promptly removed the css directory, and I replaced it with a backed up css directory. Problem solved! (or so I would have hoped)...
    This did solve the problem in all browsers I have tested in - except Firefox. The site looks as it should in safari, IE, chrome etc. CSS style is used, but FF won't use it. I believe this is a result of the site being reported as an attack site...for example, if I choose preferences > security and then uncheck "Block reported web forgeries", then reload the page - it loads as it should.
    I have requested removal from the forgery list here: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_error/?tpl=mozilla
    And the site is not listed as containing malware in Google Webmaster tools. So nothing to do there.
    Is it simply a matter of waiting till firefox recognises the site as not being a web forgery or containing malware? Is there something else that can be done to resolve problem? Or is there something that could be done to expedite the removal from FF's list of phishing / attack sites?
    It's been over a week already and still waiting. Not a good look having a website that is completely messed up. Thanks for your help in advance!

    I hadn't checked that link, but I can confirm that the CSS file isn't loaded because of a block via the phishing protection.<br />
    Google Chrome doesn't even open the main page and immediately shows the phishing warning page.
    <blockquote>Warning: Suspected phishing site!<br />
    The website at www.beaq.org.au has been reported as a “phishing” site. Phishing sites trick users into disclosing personal or financial information, often by pretending to represent trusted institutions, such as banks.</blockquote>

  • Automatically attaching CSS style sheets to new documents

    I wanted to alert everyone to a great new Community article published by Adobe Community Expert David Powers. The article details how to attach CSS style sheets automatically when you create new documents.
    Here's the article:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/505/cpsid_50564.html
    This handy option is easy to miss, especially if you don't use the New Document Dialog box to create documents, so big thanks to David for highlighting this.
    Furthermore, the appearance of such an article is a great example of how Community content can interact and live symbiotically with Adobe Help. We've linked directly to David's piece from our documentation, and this is indeed a great thing because David is able to go into much more detail about the process of automatically attaching style sheets than we are able to do in Help:
    Create a blank page
    Create a page with a CSS layout
    If you're interested in publishing Community articles of your own, you can download the Community Publishing AIR application and get right to work!

    Jon Michael Varese wrote:

    Can I ask why?
    David's excellent standard should be the minimum standard for Help files.
    The quality of software manufacturers' Help (not just Adobe) has deteriorated greatly over the past decade - to the point where it's now my last resort for learning.
    Software manufacturers seem to tacitly rely on 3rd party book authors (such as David's brilliant material), bloggers and online tutorials to explain their products these days.
    I'm happy not to have a printed book with my software any more because they were always out-of-date and hard to update. However the quality of PDF and online Help docs is so poor and sparse for my use that I prefer to get my answers by Googling, visiting forums or buying the occasional book.

  • Unexpected error when linking CSS style-sheet

    I have been working on this site for over a month now. I have
    a linked external CSS style sheet and everything has been working
    seamlessly between Dreamweaver and the web. Today, I tried to
    create a template and then disliked it, so I deleted it. After
    doing that, my CSS rules were no longer displaying properly EVEN
    THOUGH my formatting and everything has remained the same.
    I have a feeling there is something cached behind the scenes
    that is messing this all up. Community assistance is greatly
    appreciated. This is not the first time I've been unable link a CSS
    stylesheet.

    upload the page and post a link, please.

    Forgot to answer to your last two questions:
    Sometimes I cannot override the style sheet
    I highlight the text
    i select the class
    DW writes the code but in the browser it still obeys the style sheet???
    4  "whitelink" won't work in the body and only in some tables???
    I suspect you are adding classes to the wrong element on the page.  Let me explain:
    if you intend to select a link, then you click on the linked text in Design Window and then select the <a> tag for that link, on the Tag Selector Bar at the bottom of the Design Window.  However, if you then select "whitelink" you will need to CHANGE MY CSS, because now yoru are adding the class to the A tag, not to one of its parents as we have the CSS selector written now.  You would have to change this:
    a.whitelink:link  {
          color: white
    a.whitelink:visited {
        color: yellow
    a.whitelink:visited:hover {
        color: white
    a.whitelink:hover {
        color: yellow
    BUT- It would actually be better to leave the CSS the way I had it originally and instead to apply the "whitelink" class to a Parent tag, one, or more,  that wrap around the portion of your page that needs this class for all the A tags within.  So if there is a div or a table or some tds or some parents that enclose all the links you need white, then THOSE are the tags to select on the Tag Selector Bar to add the whitelink class to.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • NullReferenceException when using Razor "@" inside of CSS styles

    Issue:
    Receiving "Object Reference Not set to an instance of an object" when I hit ctrl-v in CSS styles
    Steps to Reproduce:
    Open Visual Studio Ultimate 2013
    Create new ASP.NET Web Application (Create directory for solution)
    Choose MVC (Auth is Individual User Accounts)
    Open Shared/_Layout.cshtml (I can reproduce the error by following the below steps in any .cshtml file)
    DO NOT SAVE FILE CHANGES AT ANY POINT (though I've noticed this makes no difference)
    Add <style> </style> just before </head>
    Add #foo {color: red;} inside of <style>
    CSS syntax highlighting still works at this point
    Add razor syntax @ symbol to color: red;
    #foo {@color: red}
    CSS syntax highlighting is lost
    Add #bar {color: green;}
    Highlight #bar {color: green;}
    Hit ctrl-c to copy
    hit ctrl-v to paste clipboard anywhere BUT inside of <style></style>
    Pasting outside of <style> should still work.
    Now hit ctrl-v and paste clipboard inside of <style></style>
    shoudl receive Error message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
    Undo (ctrl-Z) should no longer work at this point
    NOTES:
    Copying from outside of visual studio and pasting inside the <style> tag in _Layout.cshtml should nto produce an error
    Last thing, it does not matter if I am using the @ symbol in valid CSS (background: @url(...)) or invalid CSS (color: @red)
    Trying to escape the @ symbol (background: @@url(...)) mnakes no difference.
