Home button issue (button sometimes doesn't work)

I have the problem that my homebutton sometimes does not work. I want to go to multi tasking view for example, so I press it twice, but I just go to the menu like I would have pressed it once. Same happens when I want to go back from Standby and I press it once... Nothing happens. I sometimes have to repeat it 5 times until it finally works. Why is this happening? Is this a hardware issue (like the person in this thread claims: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1969583?tstart=0) Or is this software related? Some websites say that this problem appears since version 4.1 and according to a websites voting 59% of 11500 votes say that they have that problem.

If I push it enough times I get home. Sometimes it works on the first try, sometimes it works on the 10th try. I sent it in and Apple said it was from misuse. Is there anything I can do, either with Apple or to fix it on my own? I don't know what I did to cause this, I take pretty good care of it.

The poster has an iPod tuch. Not an iPhone. There is not provider for the iPod. The poster also said they sendt it to Apple:
"I sent it in and Apple said it was from misuse."
Misuse is not covered by the warranty.

Hey! I just read something about it on a post by iPhone 4S Stuck at boot showing [NAND] ? at the end of the second page..... It is a lot of work by it depends on you if you want to try.... at the end if not working as varjak paw quoted you may have to replace it...... but don't give up!!!!

IPhone 5 power button sometimes doesn't work under iOS 7

Hi, my wife has noticed the problem which started to appear on her iPhone 5 after she has recently upgraded to IOS 7.0.2
Power button randomly doesn't respond to power off the phone but never to power it on. Does anyone has similar issue?

The issue could be a faulty power button. There's nothing, that I'm aware of, in iOS 7 that would cause inconsistent power button functionality.
Make sure you depress/hold the power button long enough to see the RED power off slider.

Well, I'm pretty sure I got a dud iPod. My batttery life started out ok then went to heck. Shortly before my warranty ran out I sent it in to Apple to get it fixed, I'm pretty sure they didn't do anything. Then, shortly after my warranty ran out, my home button needed to be pushed at the very top to work. Then, It just stopped functioning at all. I replaced the screen, and I also replaced the home button, that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How come the left rewind button sometimes doesn't work on my remote?

The left rewind button on my apple tv remote isn't working. If I press it down long enough it wants to delete whatever I am trying to put in. I had to get a new router and need to put in my new wifi password and I cannot since I cannot go to the left on the remote. What should I do? I am so frustrated!

Hi Sara, I'm not sure what is wrong with your Firefox. To rule out something transient, I assume you have either restarted your device, or powered it all the way off and back on again? (I think you can do this on LG devices by holding the power button until you get a small popup menu.)
Since Firefox won't start, I wonder whether you would be willing to clear its data (bookmarks, history, permissions, add-ons, everything). You could do that through the Android App settings screen.
Android settings > Apps > Firefox > "Clear data" button
Does that help?
If that's too drastic, perhaps someone else will another another suggestion.

I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues. They tell me to do different things that never help. We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues. Help! I have done that several times. In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly. I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time. It never does. When you buy an iPhone in the U.S. it's locked to that country with the carrier you bought it for.
If you bought the device unlocked in the U.S. it's unlocked, you can use it on any carrier. Even one's outside the country.
If you want to do a repair on a device you bought in the U.S. and your using it in another country, you must send it back to the U.S. Why? That's where you bought it from.
AppleCare Protection Plans and AppleCare Limited Warranties are registered to your hardware.
Your hardware is your iPhone.
Wherever hardware that was bought then that's the country it was designed to be used in and that's where it was manufactured.
Apple is very localized - if you call U.S. tech support, you'll speak to somone in your country.
So, what does all this mean?
In order to do a repair, you need to send it back to the country you got it from.
And we're all customers like you. We understand that you're upset, but Apple isn't gonna bend the rules to one individual.
Policy is policy. Get over it.

Home button intermittently doesn't respond. At times it takes 20+ depressions to get it to respond. Have tried a reset on a number of times but like the home button it works sometimes and not other times.

By the slide to unlock screen, are you talking about the slider at the bottom of the screen after taking out of sleep mode?
And by trying the sleep/wake button and home button, are you talking about a reboot by holding both the power/sleep button and the home button until the apple logo appears and it reboots? And that does not help release the issue with the slider?
Are you sure the iPhone is well charged?
If none if this helps, have you tried syncing/backing up to a compter and then restore by iTunes on a computer?
If you cannot do any of this it would be good to schedule a visit to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs try their hand and diagnostics.
