  • Why has my home button on my Iphone4 quit working?

I am trying to find out why my home button on my Iphone 4g has suddenly quit working. Can anyone help me try to solve this problem?

No one here can answer this question for certain.
Could be hardware failure or a software problem.
If no change after the standard troubleshooting steps which in order are:
Power your iPhone off and on.
    An iPhone reset.
Restore your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup.
Restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after the last step, your iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • Shadowy light flickereing above home button on ipad mini

I have an iPad mini and it was purchased in December. Since yesterday I noticed a shadowy type light flickering at the bottom of the screen just above the home button. I have no idea what this is and hope somebody has an answer? I am very concerned about it, thank you. When I put my brightness on high the shadowy light is not visible, however as soon as I put the brightness down the shadowy light becomes ovious and noticeable.

it might because you have pressed the button a little too hard and caused a dent in the display inside or something. take it to the apple store, since if you didn't press hard and there's the problem, they can give you a new one.

  • Dust around home button on iPad Mini

I've only had my iPad mini for a few days now and already I notice dust getting collected around the home button.
Does anyone else get this? Which is the best way to get rid of the dust?
    Thanks

    Qtip
My iPad mini is in a case so, I haven't really noticed too much dust.

  • Power Button on iPad 2 Quit Working

The power button on my iPad 2 that I got two weeks ago and have upgraded to 4.3.5 doesn't work.  I've restored the system and that didn't help.  Is this a known issue?

I experienced the same problem with my Ipad 2.  I fixed the problem by slapping the screen, hard, several times,in the general area of the power/volume buttons with the palm of my hand.  All fixed.
Both the power button and the volume up button on my 'Pad2 failed.  I ended up on this forum for advice on how to resolve.
Several posters in this community have suggested rebooting the ipad by holding down both home and power buttons, but this is not practical advice, since, again, the power button is inoperable.
Next I followed Apple's online troubleshooting procedures by backing up, restoring and resetting my Ipad.  No luck.
After that I ran Apple's remote diagnostics, which concluded I needed to send my 'pad in for service.  Since my 'pad is a month beyond Apple's 12 month service life for this device, I was quoted $256 for repair.
Finally, and concluding tis was in fact a mechanical failure, I ended up beating the thing Fonzi-style.  I recommend this procedure to anyone with similar symptoms.

  • Hi my iPad mini was working fine but now is just a blank screen will not respond to any buttons or connect to I tunes

My iPad mini was working fine then screen black and will not. Respond to any buttons or connect to iTunes

Plug it into the wall charger an wait for at least 30 minutes.
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

how can i update my ipad mini ios 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 directly to ipad not with itunes?????????
    crystal_heart,
Your post is totally unrelated to the old post you tagged on to. You need to create a new post to get answers to your specific problem. Plus, you'll get email answers.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • When I press the Home button the iPad won't return to the home page. I have to press hard or press down for a long period to get it to change. sometimes I turn it off and on again to be able to access the home page

When  I press the home button my iPad won't go to he home page. It is as though the button isn't working properly?

Try this to calibrate your home button:
Open a stock iOS app (e.g., Clock). Once the app is open, press your iPad’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open. You’re done!

Didn't work in what way.  Are you unable to start it up?  Does it start but then freezes?  Does the screen stay black when you turn it on?

    Hi kamalkumar,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone.
The article below will provide some troubleshooting steps for this issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!
    - Judy

  • I can't get the headphone jack on my iPad mini to work. Plug is completely inserted. Any suggestions?

I cannot get the iphone jack on my new iPad mini to work. Sound continues through iPad speakers and nothing comes through headphones. It's plugged in exactly the same as my iPad 3. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem and am using a brand new Apple headset.  Researched Apple forums for hints and do see other threads about this.  I've tried just about all the suggestions but the only one that seems to work for a short period of time is the cold reset with pwr+home.  Problem returns after a short period of time.  Not sure if it's software/apps incompatibility or hardware, or a combination of both...
So I chose this forum thread to post and opened a case with Apple Support: Case#43320343
Apple tech support is requesting that I do another restore but this time "restore as another user" meaning that I won't be able to use iCloud restore.  Make sense so I will be backing this up locally on my iMac at home later this weekend and will update.
Thank in advance for any constructive input.

  • My iPad mini is working on it own even I'm not touching it. I tried to reset it but nothing works to fix it! Pls help.

My iPad mini is working on its own even I'm not touching it. It's even changing from one apps to the other without my control! And type on its own!! I tried to reset all contents setting many times but it does not fixed the problem. Please help me!

Erasing the device doesn't do any good if there is a problem with the iOS software. That merely removes the contents and settings from the iPad. You need to restore to factory settings and restore the iOS.
