  • BT Home Hub Manager problems.

    Hello BT,
I am currently having problems connecting to the BT Home Hub Manager.
    I have tried the following:
    api.home
    192.168.1.254
    http://bthomehub.home/
These all end up with the connection timing out because it's taking too long to respond. All other websites are working fine and well for me. I've also tried this on Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari web browsers.
Also, I have asked a few other people in my area I know who are with BT and they are not getting the same problem as me.
    Kind regards,
    Ryan.

The HH internals sometimes get in a tangle, and if you happen to have made any changes to the various settings, that can sometimes compound matters.
Try doing a Factory Re-set (paperclip into small hole at side of hub) and see if that resolves matters. Doing a re-set will remove any settings that you may have applied, so be prepared to make the settings again if necessary. The re-set also restores the default wireless settings which are displayed on a label on the back.
If that does not solve it, you may need to ask for a replacement HH.

  • Cannot connect to Home Hub Manager

Cannot connect since I renamed my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels.
    I used a space and bracket which I don't think works - i.e. BTHomeHub (2.4GHz)
However I cannot now access the Home Hub Manager to rename the networks.
I have tried to access via:
    api.home
    192.168.1.154
    bthomehub.home

I suggest you try a factory reset of the hub

  • Problem with password in home hub manager

    Hi
I have a pc and a laptop connected wirelessly to homehub 3. connection is fine having swapped the hub for a new one.
The problem I have now is that when i go into hh manager on the laptop, I cannot enter a password to get to settings.
I get admin as user and cursor won't work  in password panel.
On the pc it works fine. It's no biggy as I can acess settings on the pc but anyone know why it is happening?
This is the screen I get. Different to the usual one.
To prevent unauthorised access, your BT Home Hub's settings are protected by a password. To change the settings in your BT Hub Manager, you'll need to enter your admin password, then click the 'OK' button on this page. Please remember the password is case sensitive.

Swapped from a what version hub? It does sound like you may of been using a v1 or v1.5 hub prior to using the hub3
What happens if you go to saved passwords on your laptop, locate the 'admin' one, make a note of it just in case and delete it. Does this allow you to access the hub manager now?

  • BT Home Hub Manage Connections and Bandwidth.

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to manage connections inside BT Home Hub. I am the owner of the hub and can log in to the advanced settings, I see I can turn the wireless off, is there a way to turn the wireless off for specific devices, but keep my laptop wireless on.
What about turning the internet off for specific wired devices, but keeping my computer on.
Third and final question, is there a way I can manage bandwidth useage?
So I can say to these devices, use 10% of bandwidth, and allow the rest to go to my computer.
Thanks, any information would be very helpful.

The simple answer to both your questions one and three is not with the HomeHub - and you might have difficulty finding a router designed for home use that will do both.
You should be able to restrict access to the internet on a machine by machine basis using the parental controls.

Your Home Hub "should" already have wireless enabled. What version of Hub do you have?

  • Home hub manager

Why can't I access a list of details like noise ratio and attenuation any more. Clicking on troubleshooting says that these details are.available and may be needed if the helpdesk is contacted, it used to be possible to get to it from a link at the top of the event log but since a reboot of a couple of days ago this link has disappeared.

No I am running the the latest firmware on the hub5 my reference was to adsl not infinity the information is available infinity but not on adsl the only info given on adsl is connection speed and connection time is in the actual hub logs

  • My BT Home Hub Manager doesn't show one of the lap...

But the laptop is connected to the internet normally? I wanted to find out how many devices were connected to the internet and it seemed right so far until I noticed that my laptop didn't show up on the list, but is still connected to the hub just fine. Is there a way to make it show up?
    Hub: BT HomeHub 3
Laptop: HP NC6220 Windows XP Professional
    Laptop's connection type: Wireless

Try a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This can often sort out configuration problems.

  • Re: BT Home Hub Manager problems.

Just rung 0800... and been told to use the 'PAPERCLIP' to reset the HH; this was needed to help improve my 0.35MB D & 0.29MB U speed! Best speed should be 3MB for download; which I've obviously never had!
We've continued to experience this terrible speed for months now - previously been told to restart the HH every time I've rung 0800; but now reset with the PAPERCLIP appears to be the flavour of the month. But the help team said I wasn't to use the PAPERCLIP too often; I obviously have to ring them to check its OK to do so!!!!
Not that BT would be keen to tell us, but has anyone on the forum tried to prosecute Bt under the trades description act for the lack of speed as promised in their adverts; bet I'm not the only person getting these sorts of line speeds? If you sold a car, saying it had a top speed between 20 and 200mph; it simply wouldn't be allowed!
Do BT customers have an ombudsman to raise these problems?
BT must also keep a check on lines to know when there's a fault; can the ombudsman penalise them if their service falls below an 'acceptable' level?
I was considering Infinity, but how can BT guarantee we'd get any better service?
PS Told my family to guard Percy the PAPERCLIP that sits next to the HH; we've become best friends with Percy now, he may only be a .01p piece of metal, but he doubles our broadband speed! He has so much talent I think he's considering BGT 2015!

  • Problem with "Home Network" in hub manager

    Hi everyone,
I had a bit of an issue with my homehub this week where some prolonged decorating caused the hub to be unplugged for most of the day. When the hub was plugged in again it appeared to have performed a factory reset. Now over the past day or two it has had the odd issue that I've needed to sort. My main issue is that currently the "Home Network" option with the Home Hub manager will cause the router to reset and drop connection, however it is only this page. Also the router isn't responding to requests to bthomehub.home and I have to use the IP. I've done a factory reset through the hub manager and set up all my previous settings as were previously, but the lack of access to the "Home Network" page is still a problem and is getting to be frustrating because I have a chromecast unable to connect without being able to turn off smart setup.
Details of my home hub below, any input would be lovely.
BT Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.173.1.6

have you tried a factory reset but using the recessed button on back and holding for 20/30 secs until the lights flash?

  • Changing PC that manages the Home Hub?

    HI
I'm just getting a new PC which will replace my old home desktop machine...does anyone know how I can find a copy of the Home Hub manager software that runs on Windows 8 (of course I have lost my disk that I had the first time round... :-)  )?
I'll only be connecting with the home hub wirelessly from now on, whereas previously I used Powerline adapters..I'm assuming this wont be an issue.
    Thanks!
    mike

you don't need the cd  if you enter 192.168.1.254 into your browser then you will get hub manager where you can change password or wifi password or channel etc

  • BT home hub 4 wireless connection issue on the Xbo...

    Hi all,
It has been flagged to us that there may be an issue when connecting an Xbox 360 to the new BT home hub 4.
As many of you are aware the new BT home hub 4 has dual wireless bands broadcasting in the  2.4 GHz and 5 GHz range.
It seems that when connecting an Xbox 360 wirelessly to the hub 4, the Xbox will state that there is an error, like the one below.
“There is more than one network in range that has this SSID, please change your router SSID before proceeding”
This issue seems to be due to the fact then when the Xbox scans for the available wireless networks, it sees both SSID's  and insists that one of them must be changed in case of a conflict.
This is an Xbox 360 issue and not a hub 4 problem
When Xbox 360 was released some 8 years ago dual band routers were very uncommon; so the Xbox has not been setup to deal with this type of connection.
To correct this issue we have some steps that you can follow so that you can connect to the hub. You will need to log into the BT home hub manager  and change the SSID on the 5 GHZ band being broadcasted from the hub.
Steps to do this are as follows…….
Log in to the Hub 4 in the normal manner setting up a new password or using the custom password that has been setup by the customer then navigate to the Advanced Settings
Then select continue to advanced setting
    Then select wireless
    Then select 5GHZ
After that you will need to change Sync with 2.4 from yes to NO
After this has been done you will then be able to change the SSID of the 5GZ band adding a number or a letter to the end
After all this has been done you will then need to click apply to save the changes
You will now be able to connect the Xbox in the normal way using the default wireless key

Try changing the wireless channel in the hub. Enter 192.168.1.254 then go to wireless switch to manual and try another channel. You can try downloading inssider3 which will show netwrorks and their channels round about you

  • Apple TV 2nd Generation - wont connect to Itunes on Windows 7 Computer, with BT Home Hub 2

So have been searching around all over the Interweb and cant put my finger on an answer.
Apple TV is up to date and so is Itunes. Connecting via wireless.
Apple TV connects to internet fine, and also allows airplay via Ipad. It is reporting the correct router address so I am assuming it is all on the same network and happy that way.
I can see the Apple TV device in Home hub manager.
In Apple TV and Itunes I have turned on Home Sharing. (In fact tried turning off and on a number of times)
Initially I can see in Apple TV the Library I am trying to connect to. So you select and it goes away for a while and comes back with "Cannot connect to Neils Library"...
So I searched around and looked at ports that you maybe should open on the computer to allow other devices to search for Itunes - TCP 3689 and UDP 5353. So I created a new Application Sharing entry in the home hub, and assigned that to my PC only. (maybe I havent done that correctly? Followed a guide on a port forwarding website)
Weirdly then - when I go back to my Apple TV and look at "computers" on the menu, it can no longer see my Itunes library. Before it could see the library, but errored when trying to connect to it.
Have also tried turning the firewall off.
So I am a bit stuck. Any suggestions or past experience would be gratefully received.
    Thank you!
    Neil

OK - I managed to fix this. Will document for others.
I started to think it was a firewall thing. So I turned off both my Windows 7 firewall and my BT Home hub firewall. It started working!
So turned back on the BT home hub firewall - still working. So it must be a windows 7 firewall.
Went in and checked that Itunes was there as an exception... Yep. So why still not working?
Found out that the entry in my Windows 7 firewall said I-Tunes - but when you looked at the details button it wasnt pointing to a program - it was just blank.
So added a new entry and pointed that at the I-Tunes exe file.
    Now all working...
