Home Share photos onto iPad?

I have an apple tv that is capable of home sharing my photos from iphoto on my macbook pro, why can't i do the same thing on my ipad?
I'm able to home share my music onto my apple tv. I'm able to home share my photos onto my apple tv.
I'm able to home share my music onto my ipad. Why can't i home share my photos onto my ipad?
I DO NOT WANT TO SYNC MY PHOTOS TO MY iPAD OR USE PHOTO STREAM. I HAVE A 16GB iPAD AND ABOUT 46GB'S WORTH OF PHOTOS/VIDEOS IN IPHOTO SO HOME SHARING IS THE BEST AND ONLY CHOICE.

The videos don't share because they are just too big. Most videos are dozens to hundreds of megs and don't transfer well, so they don't transfer at all.
You'd have to maually do it, either via the syncing computer or using a service like Dropbox, where you upload then download them. (personally I'd stick to local, uploading and downloading hundreds of megs will take time)

Home share got nothing to do with sync. Figure out which one you want off and come back.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If home sharing isn't enabled on the Apple TV, you will need the aluminium remote that came with it to do so.

  • ITunes 11 Stops Responding to Bonjour Discovery Multicast Broadcasts, Why?  This stops the the Apple TV 3 from being able to start a new stream from the home share and the iPad remote app can no longer see the home share too.

I'm having an issue where my Apple TV 3 and all our iPads periodically seem to loose connectivity to an iTunes home share on a Windows 7 PC.  Using a network protocol analyser on the PC I have identified that the point of failure corresponds to the ATV3 sending a bonjour discovery request and getting no reply from iTunes.  Why the ATV3 'forgets' where the home share is is possibly another issue but the root cause of the failure is that iTunes, or more specifically the mDNSResponder service, is not responding to the UDP multicast port 5353 broadcast discovery packet sent by the ATV3 or iPad.  The mDNSResponder service does start responding again after iTunes is restarted thus making the home share accessible once more, however, this frequent drop out is unacceptable and often happens after only a single TV show has been watched from the home share making the solution unworkable for a family, we simply cannot be restarting iTunes constantly it ruins the user experience completely!
The nature of this failure indicates that the ATV3, the iPads, the host PC and network are all working correctly and the point of failure here is the lack of response to the bonjour discovery protocol with the net result of either a spinning 'connecting to home share' message or the home share just disappearing from the computers section.
If there is a configuration fix for this please let me know as I haven't located a fix!  Otherwise this seems very much to be a code flaw in iTunes 11 or the mDNSResponder and I would appreciate some input from Apple!  Going on other questions in these forums it would seem the problem is not limited to Windows PCs but also Macs too.  NB: This is not a TCP issue, when the ATV3 or iPad knows the IP of the iTunes server all works flawlessly, it just periodically they seem to refresh the list of home shares and at this point they loose the information about the home share they have just been using because of the non-response to the UDP multicast discovery broadcast packet, that is arriving at the host PC and isn't being blocked by the firewall.
    Many Thanks!

In my case there was no import from a former mac.
My problem (at least mine) is that no app that offers media sharing works properly. Neither itunes home sharing nor AirVideo nor EyeTV sharing.
So I'm pretty sure that this is network issue.
Adding another user on my mac and sharing a new library works not also. But sharing from another laptop in my WiFi works. So this has to be a network issue on my mac, not only my user, but an issue of the whole system.
But I'm not willing to reinstall MacOS X for that if I don't have to.

What did you use to convert to MP4?
I've never tried to convert a DVD, but have had success with various other video formats using HandBrake from <Download HandBrake now.>.

  • HT204387 How to share photo from iPad 2 to Nokia mobile via bluetooth

I m using first time ipad2 plz guide me how to share photo via Bluetooth from iPad2 to Nokia mobile e5 n to shiva note book

You can't share photos from the iPad to the phone via Bluetooth. That is not supported on the iPad. Bluetooth on the iPad is primarily for using external keyboards, speakers, earphones and some peer to peer gaming.

  • How do I home share music from ipad to mac

HI all. I have my entire music library on my ipad2, and want to home share it to my new mac. But the mac does not seem to be able to see the music from the ipad? Is this even possible, or can it only go the other way around (mac to ipad). I know I have home sharing set up right because the mac shared videos to my ioad. What I want is to be able to share everything on my ipad, and access it on my ipad. Can anyone help?

You can only use home sharing to stream content from a computer to another computer or device (or to copy content between computers), it doesn't work from an iOS device.

  • HT4557 can I home share with an iPad & iPhone?

can I home share with just an iPad and an iPhone?

The HT4557 article you attached above says:
With Home Sharing in iOS 4.3 or later, you can stream your entire iTunes library over your home Wi-Fi network from your Mac or PC right to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
But if you tell us exactly what you're trying to do (e.g., play music from an iPad to a home WiFi system connected by AirPort Express), there may be a way (e.g., AirPlay, documented here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437

  • Dragging photos onto iPad

Following intructions in a booklet entitled 'An introduction to the iPad mini' I tried to drag a folder of photos onto the iPad through the devices area of iTunes. iTunes did not reject the idea, but just said that (all) the photos had been rejected because the file type was not supported on the iPad. File types were JPG and TIFF. I am amazed if JPGs are not supported. Any comments?

You can sync photos via your computer's iTunes via the iPad device's Photos tab.
If you are on iTunes 11 on your computer then you may want to re-enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), which might make it easier to navigate and my instructions may make more sense.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes (if you've enabled the sidebar), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you haven't enabled the sidebar, then from your library click 'iPad' at the top right of the screen and you should get a series of buttons along the top of the screen, including one for Photos

  • HT204053 how can i home share photos with another apple id

How can I share photos through home sharing with 2 apple ID. I have an Iphone and my wife does also but we created 2 ID's because we want our contacts to stay separated and we still want to view our pictures from our main desktop?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

  • Trouble syncing photos onto iPad and need help

I recently purchased an iPad for a family member for Christmas and it had been working fine until last night. When they attempted to add another photo album to the already existing ones on the iPad, itunes ended the sync, when it says "syncing photos," saying "the required file could not be found" and took of all of the photos that were on the iPad. The photos are stored in the main 'Pictures' gallery in folders where it normally syncs fine; however we do not know how to fix this or get the photos back on. There is plenty of room left on the iPad to store the photos, we have updated the iPad and itunes, and it always works when we sync our iPods.
Any help would be much appreciated; thank-you!

    Hey AlanaRama:
It could be that one of the photos that you are trying to sync is corrupted (or something).
Try dividing the photos in half and try to sync each half to see if that helps to find the problem photo.

  • HT1414 I am able to see my laptop in my home share on my iPad but i can't see my iPad library on my laptop. I have tried to turn on and off the homeshare on my laptop but it still does not work. Any suggestions?

Please help. I am trying to sync my two libraries but my ipad is not showing up on my laptop. I cant even get the share menu to pop up.

Your library should reside on your computer, the iPad is simply a mirroring what you sync to it from iTunes. If you have anything on the iPad the is different then you may risk losing it.
Should you need to transfer anything so you can sync to iTunes (which you can do wired or wirlessly) there are 3rd party programs

  • HT4101 Exclamation point in red when I try to import photos onto iPad from SD card

I get an exclamation point in a red circle when I try to import photos from my SD card using the CAmera Connector accessory. I have successfully used this method for over a year, but all of a sudden, I'm unable to import. I have installed iOS 6. Please help!

    Hi mpt95,
I have the same problem with met 3rd gen iPad.
I tested with 2 camera's and 2 different sd-card. Here are the results:
Canon Ixus: SDHD class 4: Connection oke, Import just fine
Canon Ixus: SDHD class 10: Connection oke, Import just fine
Nikon D3500: : SDHD class 4: Connection oke, no import! Get the red Exclamation point
Nikon D3500: : SDHD class 10: Connection oke, no import! Get the red Exclamation point
Problem is not related to the SDcards, but the combination with the Nokon D3200.
Read on the net that pictures should be in the DCIM folder, and should bet no longer then 8 Characters.
I checkeg this, and it was correct. The red exclamation mark is a mystery and I cannot find the solution on the net. So far.
    What camera are you using?
