HomeHub 5 and and WiFi connection

I have resently go a HomeHub 5 and I am having trouble with the wireless dropping out 2 or 3 times a day.
What basically will happen is that the PD will just stop sending/receiving data from the network (both the internal and external network). Other device on both wireless and wired will still be functioning ok and if I disconnect the wireless on the PC and reconnect all is fine again.
I think the problem may be related to the 5GHz band, but that may be because the computer I am mostly on mostly connects via 5GHz. It may also have something to do with bandwidth usage as it feels like it happeds more often if I am streaming videos.
Anyone else seen similar issues? Any advice?

Had exact same problem for the last few weeks after upgrading to HH5. My laptop would drop off the 5ghz connection, whilst everything else (connected to 2.4) remained fine and dandy. The only way I could reconnect would be to disconnect, connect to a different signal, then reconnect to my original 5ghz signal. If I ran diagnostics along the way it would either report that it couldn't find any error, ot that the DNS server wasn't responding. I split the two signals apart, identifying each one with a different SSID and password.
Did a LOT of digging, and eventually thought it might be something to do with the power management setting on my wireless card, which was selected to on. Selected it off and it at least made the disconnects less frequent. I then went through the advanced settings on the card and deselected anything that would allow the adapter to be turned off by the laptop, which also appeared to help, but not elimnate the issue completely.
I got in touch with BT online help, who rather curiously asked that I change my broadcast signal to channel 11. When I challenged that with the fact I had a 5ghz issue, they requested I change the channel to 44, reboot and monitor, which I have been doing. The problem hasn't completely disappeared, dropping off twice today in quick succession, but since then have had no issues whatsoever. I asked 'Help' why I was doing this, and he told me to de-conflict with other signals. I responded that there were no other signals, but he asked me to do it anyway. Curiously, when I asked what the next steps were if this didn't work, he responded by asking if I wanted to downgrade to a HH4?
I have read that if I set the IP/DNS manually against the wireless adapter then this will help - which will be my next step.

  • Poor battery life and WiFi connectivity on iPhone 5s

I have bought a new iPhone 5s 16GB running iOS 8.1.2 3 days ago. The device that I have got has a poor battery life and WiFi connectivity. I have tried lots of methods given on the internet like turned off the auto-brightness, reset the phone to default settings.
Then contacted the Apple Care for battery issue. They asked for the diagnostics to check the problem. They said its happening because of the crash of inbuilt app Springboard asked me to try "Set up as new iPhone". Even after doing all these, I am still getting battery not more than 4 hours.
This is not expected from Apple. Such an awful experience on my first iPhone buying.

  • Is there an easy way to switch between ehternet and wifi connection without having to disconnect the ethernet cable?

    Hi All
Was wondering if there is an easy way to switch between ethernet and wifi connection on Apple TV without having to disconnect the ethernet cable. The reason I ask is that I find it quicker to use my ethernet connection via a Netgear Powerline Home Theatre Set-up to stream Trailers and Movies on the Apple TV, however this is no good when connecting directly to my Mac to stream music or TV shows in iTunes, so revert to the wifi connection that I created on my Time Capsule to do this.
Would be handy if Apple TV had a menu option where you could manually change the connection type depending on what you were doing, as per above scenario.
    Cheers
    Brett

  • Ipod Touch 5 random restart and wifi connectivity issues

    Good day to you sir...
My Ipod Touch 5G 32gb model white has issues towards random restart and wifi unstable even though I have full bars and a working wifi internet connectivity
Here are details that might help on my case..
I bought the Itouch 5 on singapore exactly around January 2013 registered on January 1 on Apple web for warranty.
Around early Feb, i experienced some random restart and I tought it was just some bug after update, it was gone and came back around late march with some wifi issues, but not regularly, only around certain cases on using it for a long period of time. I am still experiencing it now.
The device never experienced drops, dents, nor water damage.. it is protected by an Ozaki case and screen protector bought in a Mac store. Never been Jailbraked. I used it for music, videos and gaming purpose. I have 3 idevice other than the Itouch (iPad 2, Ipad w/ retina display and Ipad Mini with no occuring problems both updated to ios 6.1.3 (so is the itouch). I would like to know what course of action should I take about this problem. I have restored the Ipod Touch 5G via iTunes but the problem still occuring both wifi and random restart. I bought the device on a legit mac authorized dealer. (Power Mac i think) in Singapore, but I live in General Santos City, Philippines. I would gretly appreciate if you give me exact details what course of action should i take.
P.S. my Ipod Touch 5 is running on iOS 6.1.3..

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Flash player crashes my browser and WiFi connection!

Earlier this month, I had to perform a factory reset of my Dell laptop--erase the hard drive, reinstall the original Windows 8 OS, then re-update to Windows 8.1 and reinstall ALL my apps--because of a malware infection.  The computer would go to the BSOD ("blue screen of death") shortly after booting up.  The last thing I remember doing before this started?  Installing an update to Adobe Flash Player!  Even before this virus hit me, I was experiencing problems with my WiFi connection.  Webpages would suddenly stop loading, and it would only work again after I reset my connection, even though the router was in the next room.  I noticed (curiously enough) that I didn't seem to have this problem after I did the factory reset and reinstalled every app except for Adobe Flash.  The WiFi connection worked perfectly.  Then, on April 17, I visited a website (ESPN, I think), that needed Adobe Flash to play video.  So, with a good deal of trepidation, I went ahead and reinstalled Flash.  From that point on, I started having the same WiFi problem as before, only WORSE.  As soon as I started to stream video (and even sometimes audio), not only would the video stream suddenly stop playing or buffering, but I couldn't even refresh the page because my WiFi connection had to be reset!  So tonight, I uninstalled Flash Player, and voila, everything seems to be working perfectly again. From my experience, Flash Player is buggy, untrustworthy, and incompatible with the other software on my machine.  I'll be shopping soon for a competitor!

Some more info: My computer is a 64-bit Dell Inspiron 15 with a dual-core i3 processor; my favorite browser is Firefox, and I think I was running Flash 11.1 (it was a 32-bit Flash Player, so it might be I just need a 64-bit player, if that's available).  Let me know what you think...

  • Getting "safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost" on a popular UK electrical retailer when trying to click and collect, yet I have excellent 3G and WIFI connections

When I try and use a click and collect service via a popular electrical retailers website in the UK I get " safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost"
I have a superb WIFI connection and have tried it via 3G.
I am not getting this on other websites, however have recently updated Safari.
    Any ideas?

Install Chrome and see if the problem lies with Safari...that's where it was with my mini.

  • HT4623 how can i fix the problem on ios 6.1.3 in my bluetooth and wifi connection?

how can i fix the problem on mi ipad mini. When i updated the ios to 6.1.3 the bluetooth and wifi didn't work properly.

    Hey maricel737
There are two different articles that go over troubleshooting steps for solving issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This first one goes over Wi-Fi on your iPad:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
This next one outlines suggestions for Bluetooth on your iPad:
iOS: Third-party Bluetooth headsets, headphones, and keyboards
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1664
On the Bluetooth one, I'd just skip ahead to the "Additional Information" section where the troubleshooting steps start.
    Best,
    David

You can return your computer for a replacement if it's done within 14 days of the purchased date w/no questions asked.

  • Issue with update to 10.6.5 and WIFI connection

I have been having an ongoing issue with my MBP over the last 6 months and even more consistently within the last several weeks.
I have searched the other posts and I think that I might be making a connection here. So, please chime in if you have anything to add to solving or addressing my problem as I think that there are others out there suffering.
Issue in short: Waking my MBP from sleep mode or turning it on loses my connection to my WIFI that is password protected.
Mainly when I wake my MBP from sleep mode this occurs a lot.
I have contacted AppleCare many times and have taken my computer to the Genius guys and I have done the following:::
Genius guys tested the computer and could not replicate. No hardware issues found, must be a software issue.
AppleCare, done many things to reset the computer, re-installed Snow Leopard, deleted Caches and other things.
Now, I am wondering if there is something actually due to the OS updates after 10.6.2 or 10.6.3 that is causing my issue that much more.
I can see my wireless router as available to join, I select it, type in my password, and it states invalid password. Try to restart, reboot, and nothing. It almost appears that it loses the sync between my keychain and such.
As of late, as I stated, the problem is more persistent now.
What do you think? An issue with the latest updates of 10.6.5?

I too often have a devil of a time connecting to a Linksys WiFi router with a brand-new unibody MacBook Pro 15", 2.66GHz. I noticed that if I boot the machine off an external Firewire drive this seems to be more of an issue than if I boot off the internal drive.
I beginning to thing there's some kind of interference between the Firewire system and the WiFi system.
The router is a Linksys with the latest firmware update. My MacBook and iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 connect to the router fine.

  • I Pod touch and wifi connection for e-mail

I have seen most of the messages on this issue. But still I need help. Perhaps by describing the problem I encounter, may facilitate any keen, expert and kind helper.
I believe my issue is a simple setting trick.
After configurating my mail account for local wifi, I have no problem in sending mail:it works perfectly.
However the incoming mail does not reach my i Pod and a message pops-up:"Cannot get mail:the connection to the server (box.tin.it, in my case), failed".
Any help will be most appreciated.
    Happy new Year,
    Marcello Puccini

Also have kind of the same problem. I have the 2nd generation ipod touch (the one without speakers). I have the latest software on it and can forward e.mails with pics, no problem, to my mom's ipod (generation after mine with speakers). She receives the pics no problem as well as others I know. The problem is that when she forwards e.mails with pics (includes the images), all I and other people get are the little square without pics. She also has the latest software on hers too. Don't know why she would have a problem when I do exactly the same thing as her on my ipod and I don't have a problem. This has been going on forever. We reboot and try, sync and try, etc. Seems to be intermittent on hers. Sometimes it goes with pics and sometimes not.

  • Using ipad2, loaded ios 7.1.1 last night and wifi connection went intermittant to not at all

My Ipad 2 has worked perfectly.  Last night I loaded ios 7.1.1.  The wifi now only briefly connects then is lost to APPs.  Have rebooted all devices and no change.  My Dell PC connects perfectly to the wifi

Updating is an intensive process on an ios device and marginally working components may fail during the process. Test on another wifi network to confirm the issue is not confined to one network and if it has the same issues there you may need to take it in for service.
