  • How to activate Radio in Music app when exiting a cellular/wifi deadzone without closing & restarting the app?

I'm using the iPhone 4s with latest version of iOS 7 as of 10/13/13. I access the Music app on the NYC subway (mostly a cellular/wifi deadzone) for my Playlist, but upon exiting the subway station and obtaining a good cellular signal, I do not see the Radio feature. I literally have to shutdown and restart the Music app in order for the Radio feature to slide out from behind the Playlist feature. Even weirder, the Radio feature remains visible if I place the iPhone on Airplane Mode. Go-figure.

To cut the long story short.. Refer THIS  and THIS
There are a lot of applications available at the MarketPlace which will give you the remaining battery time..but keep in mind that these values are calculated based on the immediate use and are just indicative. (e.g. immediately after playing a game which is draining the battery at a fast rate the battery may show 5 hrs. remaining..but after that you don't use the phone for a long time and the remaining battery may show as 12 hrs..)

  • Music App Very Buggy Latley

Is anyone else experiencing really buggy performance when listening to music?  Beginning last month music via iTunes match has been stopping, skipping, not playing, and putting huge gaps between songs. I have tried reinitializing match, re-syncing, backing up, wiping and restoring the phone.  Nothing works.  Until last month the music app was 100% perfect.  I listen to music daily and daily now I get this very frustrating behavior.

Many iterations and syncs later, here's my best guess about the problem:
Over the past week, I've played with a few iterations of
changing what is synced to the pad--previously the setting was 'sync
    entire library' for music.
I added back all genres, without any playlists, and it was snappy.  I
added back playlists, a handful at a time, and it was snappy until I
added back my 'all music playlist'--a smart playlist for all music
(type music, exclude a few non-music genres).  That list is almost 6000
items, and it immediately slowed performance when added back.  The
really odd thing?  I made a test smart playlist consisting of a random
selection of items from that playlist, but limiting the number of
items, thinking that perhaps iTunes just didn't cope well with such a
large playlist.  And...it didn't gum up the works with 1000 items, 5000
items, or the entire playlist (no limit by number of items).
So the problem seemed to be my smart playlist of 'all music minus
    spoken word genres etc'.  Weird.
Playing a little more, trying to figure out what was the problem,
viewing the list from several different angles:   that playlist included some radio station
streams--odd that they're not more uniformly separated from the
music--so when I deleted those from the playlist, and then clicked back
to 'sync entire library', it's snappy still.
Best guess, the playlist with radio streams was problematic, even
without ever being played on the pad.

Cyndi6858, help is here! We'd be happy to help figure this out. Just to be sure though, the Droid Maxx should not have an SD card. Is this the Droid Razr Maxx? How did you add the music to the device? Are you able to see the files and folders located on the SD card or device when plugged in?

how do I turn off the default radio in my music app.  I cannot play my playlist until it first defaults to radio and then I have to start all over. this is very tedious!!!

This got me curious when I first saw it... It does indeed seem very Un-Apple-like (at least historically) to prevent a user from customizing their own device - Mac or iDevice - but today I'm unsure. I cannot grasp how a UX designer could leave a simple "OFF" switch out of the control panel. Another thing that Music Data Streaming does is eat up your Data Plan.
This May  not be the exact issue as you describe, but seems to solve an issue of a Radio Playlist in iTunes resuming where it left off from the last use...

Re: How do you turn off i tunes radio on the ipad air once it starts playing songs?  in response to Betty91545
Play last song on list, songs will then stop.  Works for me on iPad. Haven't tried yet on iPhone.
It is likely that THIS may be part of the real reason to push the iTunes Radio feature - revenue stream (nobody remembers "Payola?"):
Apple is more beholden to the shareholders than in the old days

When I try to delete message threads on my iPhone 5, the message app won't work until I restart my phone. Once it restarts, the message threads that I tried to delete are still there. Any advice?

I recently spoke to someone from Apple support, and here's what I gathered:
"Older" phones (read: anything iPhone 4s or older?) sometimes have trouble keeping up with the processing demands of the newest software. When deleting threads with a lot of media (photos, videos, etc), it can take a lot of processing to successfully delete. What this support tech suggested was picking some of the bigger threads at night before you go to bed, deleting them, and then leaving the phone alone-- and plugged in-- overnight to give it enough time to delete everything. He suggested not even pressing the lock button; just leave it to process (though I imagine the screen will lock on its own anyway).
Not sure if it works yet since I just spoke to him, but it's the closest thing I've got to a solution!

  • CF10 App server running after reboot; but website unavailable until service restart

    Hello, everyone.
I recently returned to a job I previously had after several months at a different job.  Upon my return, I inherited someone else's dev system (my previous dev system, apparently, had been reimaged and given to someone else, after I left.)
This system originally had CF9 server on it (the ColdFusion9 folder is still here) and now has CF10.  Using the built-in web server (no IIS, no Apache.)
Every time I boot/reboot the system, I can see in Computer Manage System that CF10 Application Server is, indeed, running.  But if I try to open any of the pages that I am working on, I get an error message that the site can't be found.
I go into Computer Manage System, go to Services, right-click the CF10 Application Server, choose "Restart", wait for it to finish, and voila!, I can get a working page.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and/or how to remedy it so that CF will work immediately after boot/reboot without going to restart the service?
    Thank you,

Good to hear you solved it. If you may still want to know exactly why that was causing an issue, I would propose something I didn’t yet see anyone else do: look specifically at the CF log called coldfusion-out.log. That is basically the “console log” when you run CF as a service, and it would be interesting to know what was in that log if you compared the startup messages in your working and failing examples.
The log tracks info generally for days if not weeks or months (depending on what else is logged in the file and how quickly it fills), but it may well give you insight  into what was up. I’m not saying there WILL be something there. As Anit said, what you experienced was odd, but if there will be something logged anywhere about this, it may be there.
If nothing else, I leave this here for anyone else who has a similar sort of problem in the future.
    /charlie

  • I am using ios 7 on the iPad 4.. The OS restarts suddenly when I open the music app and and select a radio station.. Is this a bug?.. Or any updates coming to resolve this?...

Rare restart problem when I play radio from music app..

    cor-el:
Thanks for the suggestion. I already tried rebuilding that file as well and it didn't help. Also, all the changes I make are retained from session to session in terms of placement and what's shown/hidden, it's just the contents of the bookmark toolbar that disappear. The toolbar is still there and I can drag things to it, but again, they disappear after restarting the browser.
    edit (clarification):
When I say the items disappear, I mean they are no longer visible or clickable. They are still there in the sense that they appear in the Bookmark menu and if I move the Bookmark Toolbar from its own toolbar into the space next to the Menu Toolbar, they are then shown.

  • Music app crashes constantly after iOS5 update and won't restart.

I have an iPhone 4 that I updated to iOS5 last week. The first time I tried the new Music App, it ran very sluggishly. I then connected it to my JVC car stereo via the dock connector (Made for iPod), and the Music App crashed. After crashing, it just shows a blank white screen when you try to start the app, then crashes again after about ten seconds.
I can delete all the music from the iPhone via iTunes, and then re-add it, which seems to work for getting the Music App working again. But as soon as I try to connect it to the dock connector on my car stereo, it crashes again as previously described. Grrr.

No answers, only wanted to commiserate—I had a similar problem, and now my iPhone 5 running iOS 5 is showing the blank white screen for the Music app every time. No music showing anywhere, even when NOT connected to the dock in my car. I was wondering if the bug was related to the number of songs/size of files (since I have a crapload of music). This has to be happening to others...
    My Music App screen:

  • Music app crashes

I have an iPhone 5 with ios6.1. I am not sure when this started, since I very rarely even go into the music app, but I BELIEVE it began when I first turned homeshare on. The music app was already very slow to load, but since then it basically won't open.
It loads to a blank off-white screen with a header bar and five buttons on the bottom, but all of it is blank. After 5 or 10 seconds, it crashes out. Homeshare has been turned off for a while - I only had it turned on as a test for about 20 minutes. Playing music through siri works fine (other than the other bug that has been reported where music on shuffle always restarts from the same song and goes through the same playlist, not from where it last paused) but if I quickfind a song in the search bar and goto it, it loads and crashes music, and if I manually open the music app, it crashes (and music stops playing). I did a hard reset last week and it loaded music the first time, but I've since tried hard resetting a few more times and it still crashes, so that must have been a fluke. I just tried turning homeshare on again and it still fails.
    I am at a loss.

    Software troubleshooting in order...
Restart: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Power Off slider appears. Power off then power back on.
    If no change...
Reset: Press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. Note: No data will be lost
    If no change...
Restore: First from backup... If no change as New > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • Music app wont open!!!

i have an iPhone 3G iOS 4.2, i recently did a restore on my phone because it was running a little slow and plus theres a weird gray line running across the bottom of my screen and it only goes away when i turn the screen off...but now since i updated from iOS 4.1 to iOS 4.2 the music app wont open it jus stays white trying to open then it just crashes...any ideas?

    Hi Kat713,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the Music app on your iPhone quits unexpectedly when you launch it, first restart the phone. If the behavior persists, reset the phone next:
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the article with these steps here:

If the issue persists after resetting the phone, I recommend backing up and restoring your iPhone:

Running a mid 2009 iMac on 10.7.5, 3 gb memory, 320 gb hd.
Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart.  Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk.  I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work.  The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine.  When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All  of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:
    http://www.crucial.com/store/drammemory.aspx
I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.
I hope you'll post here with your results!

  • ICS/My Music App Issues?

I just got my Razr 7 days ago. It was updated to ICS in the VZW store by the "device specialist" before it was ever in my hand.
Last night, I was finally getting around to setting up playlists. When I started, the check boxes to add music to the playlist had the "normal" 3D look like they do on a PC application. After I had added a few songs, the appearance of the app changed. The check boxes suddently looked 2D; they're a flat box, surrounded on top, left and bottom with a line, and open on the right.
When I check a box, I get a flat, fuzzy looking green check, which is different than they were at first. Also, often when I check a box, it instead opens the list, i.e. instead of putting a check next to an album, it opens the album list and forces me to check each song. When it does that, I have to stop where I am and hit the "add" button, or it just won't do anything else but take me into the album list.
I also had a problem with it saving playlists. I created one, edited it to rename it, saw it saved in the list under the new name & with the number of songs. I went into another app and when I went back to My Music, that playlist was gone; another playlist I had set up earlier, though, was still there. I set it up again, renamed it and now it's still there.
I don't know if it's related or not, as far as the playlist disappearing, but when I plugged the phone into my laptop, in mass storage mode, the playlists folder on internal storage shows only "New Playlist 1". None of my playlists still have that name. On my SD card, there is another playlists folder, which I did not create, so I have to assume the phone created it, but it is empty. So the two playlists I created are not in the playlists folder...
I have cleared the phone's cache, My Music's cache and it's been rebooted several times. Has anyone seen this or have any suggestions outside of a FDR? I just finished setting up the phone. The idea of having to do a FDR in the first week is just ridiculous.
Here's a screenshot. Anyone else had this issue? Any other ideas?

Quit the Music app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, try a reset.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Music not playing in music app on IPAD 2

My iPad 2 is just not playing music in the music app. I can click play, it says it is playing but the bar doesnt move to indicate playback and there is no sound. I've tried closing the app and restarting the device.  Does anyone have any ideas?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
