When you check the WCM.log, WSUSCtrl.log and wsyncmgr.log. There is an error in WCM.log-“Category Product:6d76a2a5-81fe-4829-b268-6eb307e40ef3 (Windows 7 Language Packs) not found

    Cause:
Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise. The Windows 7 language packs can be installed only from the Optional
Updates section in Windows Update. However, these language packs are not available on the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server or through the Microsoft Download Center.

I managed to fix my issue by coping the Client, ClientUpgrade, and Scripts from the files from SCCM install discs folder SMSSETUP to c:\program files\Microsoft Configuration Manager folder.  I noticed that some of the files in the scripts
folder was missing and I copied the other folders over because I felt that maybe my local copy of the Client installer where missing some key files as well.  Once I did that and disabled software update push, restarted the wsus computer, and re-enabled
the software update push it was able to publish the client and start installing it that way.
I thing the initial log messages where pointing me in the wrong direction for a few hours because I was thinking it was permissions as well and kept trying to figure that out but in the end I do not believe any of that was the reason I was receiving the
    same error as you where.

  • Client machine not reporting to wsus server

My server Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x 64 virtual machine install in Hyper-v server and Install SCE management version 2010.
in sudden server stopped sending updated to client machine. So I check many and did many changed as per MS community forums. But still I have same issue.
Then I planned to install again SCE management server in different VM. But even though I am getting error that old SCE management server is existing in my domain.  Therefore I am afraid to change or remove any setting in AD since I have short
    of knowledge about SCE servers.
However my SCE server was working smoothly until 11-2013 and then suddenly stuck. When I check the server machine I found that local drive C: is getting full and SCE management is fail to start. So from that to now when ever I had free time I changed
many things. But unfortunately I couldn't get the sever back to normal.
Few changes which I made are below.
    - Remove and reinstall WAUS several times
    - Check online update and direct updated server SCE machine without getting updated from SCE
    - Remove dotnet frame work and updated version 4
    - product configuration wizard reconfigure
    - Repair management agent in client machine.
Kindly help for me to repair my SCE server or make another installation without having change of settings.
It would be highly appreciated if you could resolve issue
The error massage is below in windows update log.

Can you try the below to reset the authorization and force a connection back from one of the win 7 machines:
it should help pinpoint exact issues.
    1. Record the system time.
    2. Reboot the system (or restart the Windows Update service).
    3. After reboot run the command wuauclt
    /resetauthorization /detectnow.
    4. Wait 30 minutes.
    5. Post the entries from the WindowsUpdate.log starting at the time recorded in Step #1.
Do you have any Windows 7 machines that are reporting? Are other machines with different operating systems reporting correctly?

  • How to get update KB3008273 on my 2012R2 WSUS Server

I am not sure if this is a WSUS issue or not, I can not find
KB3008273 on my WSUS server and I have the Windows 8 updates selected, I also tried to download it from the
Windows Update Catalog and it is not available on that site either.
I looked at the article Description of Software Update Services and Windows Server Update Services changes in content for 2014
which appears to indicate that it should be available for download to WSUS
Is this an update that is only available directly from Microsoft Update?
    Thanks
    Bruce

I do have the Windows 8 and 8.1 categories selected and the Updates classification as per the pictures below.
My objective was to try and update my 8.0 systems to 8.1 using my WSUS server, but in testing using a VM, I found that even if I applies the missing KB3008273 update directly from Windows Update I still had to go to the Microsoft Store to get the update
package to do the actual 8 to 8.1 update.  If there is some other way to accomplish this task I would be interested.  I do not have a Volume License agreement with Microsoft so this appears to be my only option to get these system up to 8.1 without
    purchasing new licenses!
    Thanks
    Bruce H.

  • Hot fix not applied to WSUS server

I am running windows 2008 SP2 with WSUS 3.0 sp2.  I have tried to apply several hotfixes and I reboot and look at the help page and I am still on Version: 3.2.7600.226.  No matter what KB I apply this never changes.  So it is not detecting
my windows 8 machines correctly.  How do I get the hotfixes applied.  I click on install on them and they say updating and then it says successfully finished but the version number never changes.  Any help would be appreciated.

and I reboot and look at the help page and I am still on Version: 3.2.7600.226.
The problem is that you're looking at the help page. This is a long-standing bug in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that does not update the About->Help of the base product when patched.
The authoritative source for the current build of a WSUS server is on the Details Pane of the root node of the console, in the lower right corner where it identifies the current "Server Version".

  • Scalability Test: parallel requests not matching between app server and db.

We have an environment where we have started doing some load testing on our weblogic 11g instance.
The current flow and configuration is the following:
There are https requests that go into a servlet, which then calls a local EJB which uses a connection pool to request data that is returned to the caller.
The following diagram shows the general flow w/ pool size limits:
(Socket Readers: 33%) --> Servlet --> Local EJB (initial 100, max 200) --> Connection pool (initial 400, max 400) --> Oracle RAC database
First thing worth pointing out is I know that the connection pool size is drastically larger than the ejb pool -- and this needs to be addressed.
During a scalability test, we saw that there were the following max stats on the system:
Max number of sockets to the app server was approximately 450, while the maximum number of connections used during the test was 122.
We did not have instrumentation on the ejb pool to see how much it grew, but I'm assuming that the limit was due to the pool being to small and not growing fast enough.
what are people's thoughts on what to measure and test. We are trying to get a baseline configuration before jumping to a cluster environment.
Is there recommendations in terms of industry standards for matching the socket readers, thread pool, ejb pool and connection pool for a system? General recommendation read so far indicate that inital and max should be set to the same values?
    Any recommend literature is appreciated.
    Thank you.

Another measurement point that was captured is the max number of threads (LWPs) on the server went up to 196 (then dropped to 179 and stabalized there)
    Any help is definitely appreciated.

  • Testing updates with a new WSUS server

We recently created a new WSUS server and added a test target group consisting of 6 test PCs. My question is if I approve updates tonight to just the target group, will I be able to push out those same updates to our staff PCs next Thursday? (We typically
approve updates on the 4th Thursday of the month for a 3:00am Friday install via our WSUS GPO.) Or will the staff PCs miss out on this month's updates due to the test push? I.e.: is it "one and done" with the approved updates.
    Thanks
    Hank Vare

A couple of thoughts to share....
First, with respect to your approvals. This is exactly why target groups exist. So if today (Thursday) you approve updates for the target group, then the computers in that target group will get these updates sometime over the next 24-48 hours (depending
on a lot of variables that affect the process from the time of approval to the time of installation). When you're ready to deploy them to more systems, you just ADD the approvals for the extra target group(s) that contain the additional systems.
Second... approving updates on Thursday for a 3am Friday installation is a procedure likely doomed to some percentage of failure. In fact, if you've already been doing this I'm surprised it hasn't already happened. So let's dive into some of those "variables"
I mentioned in the first paragraph and better understand the risks.
When you approve the updates, they have to be downloaded from Microsoft. That takes some amount of time.
AFTER the updates are downloaded from Microsoft, the client has to "check in" with the WSUS Server to see if there are any new/available updates to download. That "check in" could occur at anytime up to 22 hours AFTER the updates have
been downloaded (which, right here, already blows the 3am target).
When the client has discovered available update to download, then it actually has to download them AND the download has to complete before 3am Friday, or those updates will not be scheduled for installation at your weekly event.
NOW.. having said that, introducing a TEST GROUP may actually mitigate some of that risk -- unless your test group is also scheduled to install updates ONLY on Friday at 3am, in which case, some of your test group might not get any updates at all.
As a general rule, your initial approval of an update should be at least 48 hours in advance of the time in which you want the clients to actually install the updates. This gives the WSUS server several hours to download the updates, it accounts for the
up-to-22-hours that may lapse before the client discovers the updates as available, and it gives the client several hours to download the updates from the WSUS server, so they are on the local machine prior to the scheduled installation time.
Additionally, if there are downstream/replica servers involved in the environment, you'll need to add another 48 hours for each level of replication -- because replica servers get updates exactly like clients do.

  • WSUS "Self-update is not working" after new certificate

After creating a new self-signed certificate in SBS 2008 wizard we get the following error:
    Text: Self-update is not working

    Hi,
Based on your description and this error message, this issue may be caused by:

  • Export Approuved Update from old server WSUS to the new WSUS server

    Hello,
I want to export all update approuved from one old WSUS server  to one  new WSUS server
Can you help me please ?
    Best Regard

    Hi,
    >>I want to export all update approuved from one old WSUS server  to one  new WSUS server ?
There are three steps to exporting and then importing updates:
Make sure that the options for express installation files and update languages on the exporting server are compatible with the settings on the importing server. This ensures that you collect the updates you intend to distribute.
Copy updates from the file system of the export server to the file system of the import server.
Export update metadata from the database on the export server, and import it into the database on the import server. The last section explains how to import exported updates to a replica server
    Here is the official solution:

  • Cache not synchronized between portal nodes

    Hello.
We are having a problem with a service using a cache api (com.sapportals.wcm.util.cache.ICache from bc.sf.service.cache_api.jar). The problem is fairly hard to describe, so bear with me (long description)
    Environment (+applications) description:
The portal we have is composed of 4 nodes (2 machines with 2 server nodes each, running ep6 sp2). We are using a service as described above, that basically parses a folder structure from the km repository and puts it into an object and the object into the cache. The objects are modified whenever the folder structure is modified (we have an event listener on a specific folder). Let's call this serviceApp. We have then another application that uses the cached object to display a tree in an iView. Let's call this iViewApp.
    Problem description:
Whenever the folder in the km folders is modified, the cached object is modified by the serviceApp. If you are accessing the portal on -say- node1, then the cached object is immediately available to iViewApp. But if you access then the portal from -say- node2 and open the iViewApp, the updated object is not available (an older "version" of the cached object is displayed). The cached object is updated only if modifications in the km folder are performed on node2 (and hence the service instance from node2 rebuild the cached object). So: on node1 the cached object is updated. On node2 it is NOT updated. Also, the modifications performed in the km folders on nodeX are immediately available on nodeX but not on the other nodes (only after some time they become available). Also, modifying km folders on nodeX raises an event (caught by the handler running on nodeX but NOT by the handlers on other nodes). <i>(***)</i> When the modifications in km folders become available on the other nodes (due to synchronization, I reckon), the event handlers do not react (hence, we think an event is not raised).
    Question no1:
We have come to the conclusion that maybe the problem is that the caching memory zone is not synchronized between the server nodes. Any ideas how to fix this?
    Question no2:
Which api is better to use for caching? The ICache from the bc.sf.service.cache_api.jar or the ICacheService from com.sap.portal.compatibility50.cacheapi.jar? Or maybe another one (we only know of these 2)?
    Question no3:
    Is the <i>(***)</i> conclusion correct?
Thank you. Sorry again for the long post.

    Hi Silviu,
We are facing the same problem with the cached objects across nodes. Would you share any information/solution to resolve this ?
    Regards,
    Melwyn

  • Upstream WSUS Server and Sync

    Hello,
Environment : 1. Server 2008 R2 Main Upstream server, hosts update content locally, SQL DB on another system.
    2.  2 - Server 2008 R2 downstream servers, host update and sql content locally.
We had our Main Upstream WSUS server crash after applying KB2734608-x64 on a Server 2008 R2 box. Our database resides on a different SQL server on the same domain. When we tried to launch the WSUS interface the mmc console
it would crash. ( MMC has detected an error in a snap in and will unload it. was the error). Looked at the logs and it seems like it could not connect to the database. Anyways after trying many fixes, i decided to re-install WSUS until it got to the point
where it would not allow me to re-install got errors in the log of " InstallWsus: MWUS installation failed ( error 0x80070643: fatal error during installation with other ones like CInstallDriver and CSetupDriver:.....blah blah). I was messing with the
back end database and accidentally deleted it, so i had to restore the latest  backup from a month ago ( we typically back on a weekly basis with incrementals, but our backups where failing and we didn't know of this because of a complicated situation
with our client..anyways). My question is once i get the WSUS connected backup what can i expect from the downstream servers in terms of Synchronization? I am assuming initially we will have re approve all updates on the upstream server, before the downstream
server successfully sync? I know i have to recycle the WSUS application pool and reset the update content, anything else? Also any advice on installing that patch? We initially tried to install it because some clients were not reporting into the console properly.
( I know we are on a downward spiral here, any help is appreciated. Will probably end up rebuilding the VM from scratch re-installing WSUS )
    Server 2008 - MCITP, Server 2012 - MCSA

Because you had previously attempted the installation of KB2734608 on the WSUS server, it's likely that the database schema has already been modified, making it impossible to connect a downlevel WSUS server to that database. It's unfortunate that you uninstalled
WSUS (probably not necessary and notably complicates the situation), but c'est la vie.
Of course, apparently all that is also irrelevant since you also trashed the back-end database and restored it, so now that database does not have the schema mods imposed by KB2734608.
So, once you get this new WSUS server installed to the restored database, the downstream servers (where I presume you have not yet installed KB2734608 since this update must be installed from the top down) will just keep on truckin'. The only updates you'll
need to approve are the ones that were approved since the last database backup (which hopefully was after you approved this month's Patch Tuesday updates, otherwise you'll likely have a fair amount of work to be done).
Successful synchronization is not a function of the state of the approvals on the upstream server, but if there are any updates NotApproved on the upstream server that were previously approved, a replica server will lose those approvals and client systems
won't get the update until it is (re)approved, the replica resynchronized, and the client performs another detection to (re)find that (new) approval.
I don't know where the "recycle the app pool and reset the update content" stuff is coming from. You're installing a new front-end WSUS server onto an existing database that's already functional. No other actions are required.
As regards successfully installing KB2734608, I suggest thoroughly reading the KB article for starters... TWICE!
First requirement of successfulling installing this update is having a healthy
WSUS server. Not sure why your particular installation failed (installation failures of KB2734608 are pretty rare, as opposed to those encountered by KB2720211), but they're almost always related to existing dysfunctions within the WSUS server.

  • Content Transfer between WSUS and SCCM client on port 8530

    Dear All
In my environment from last few days we are facing an strange situtaion where huge contents is getting transferred between WSUS server and SCCM client on port 8530.
I check logs on client and found that client are getting contents from their associated DP's but still weekly network utlisation report showing that data in GB's was transferred between SCCM primary server and clients on port 8530.
Kindly suggest what else need to check in this scenario
    Regards Suresh

The only other possible traffic from WSUS is actual updates if and only if you have been approving updates directly in WSUS which you should not be doing.
Thus, assuming you are not doing what you should not be doing, the only possibility is the update catalog. 150-200MB sounds excessive but that will be based upon what you all have selected for your catalog. There are also a handful of reasons why a full
catalog resync would be initiated instead of just a delta.

  • How to view which updates were manually imported into WSUS

We need to manually install updates on a workstation that is not joined to our domain (in a workgroup) and match the updates that are normally installed via WSUS.
WSUS has some extra updates added that were downloaded from the Microsoft Catalog site.
How can I see which catalog updates are added to our WSUS server?

In that case, I don't know why I've never had the issue on my gazillions of Win7 deployments, and, this KB is therefore very misleading about Vista & later sysprep behaviour...  :S
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903262/en-au
Unless the master image had actually been patched with Windows Update or WSUS, the master image would never actually have a SusClientID. That's the reason most organizations avoid this situation.
I do not know why the article claims that sysprep was changed to clear this ID. It still does not do it, as evidenced by the thousands of threads in this forum directly related to this issue over the past seven years (since the release of Vista), most
of which involved just as many Windows 7 systems as they did Windows XP systems.
The 2nd and 3rd paragraph in the symptoms section is still the case:
This issue  occurs if the computer was set up by using a Windows 2000 image, a Windows Server 2003 image, or a Windows XP image in which the registry value for SusClientID is populated before it is deployed to client computers.
When you use Sysprep to generalize an image for a virtual machine, or when you use a unique SID-generating technology to create the images,
the SusClientId registry value is not cleared if it is populated within the image before the image is deployed.
What's also relevant (and disappointing), and may have something to do with the claimed involvement of sysprep, is that the WUAgent v7.0 was supposed to have self-detecting capabilties for duplicated SusClientIDs. See the note in that section about "changes
it's SusClientID if the hardware changes". Sadly, it doesn't work. Also, there's no "hardware change" on virtual machines, so that's a non-starter from the get go. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a WindowsUpdate.log where the WUAgent
correctly detected a duplicate SusClientID and spontaneously generated a new one.
