Hosts.allow option spawn parameter not work

Hi,
I would like to use BlockHosts and spawn it with spawn keyword from hosts:allow, but option parameter does nothing for me.
I tried several configurations with different sshd entries and results are below
hosts.deny:
ALL:ALL:DENY
With hosts.allow:
sshd:ALL
I can connect to sshd.
With hosts.allow:
sshd:ALL:DENY
I can still connect to sshd. But I do not know why.
With hosts.allow:
sshd:ALL:spawn (echo "some tries to log" >> /var/tmp/sshd.tmp)
I can connect but nothing is written to temporary log file.
With empty hosts:allow I cannot connect to sshd.
I cannot find any clue, from man entry everything seems clear, but it does not work as it is written in doc.

the Access files are read in order of /etc/hosts.allow, and /etc/hosts.deny
by default, /etc/hosts.deny contains ALL:ALL:DENY, only the first two are important, then third DENY is the placeholder for shell scripts, only the first two are considered, so ALL:ALL means that all daemons for all connections will not be allowed access, you can specifically add a specific service like sshd using sshd:ALL in /etc/hosts.allow to allow access.
sshd:ALL:DENY, the DENY part is the place where you should put the location of your shell script (absolute path), writing DENY will not deny it access

The key combination you mention is for resetting parameter RAM or PRAM. Nothing really to do with passwords.
At what stage is it asking for a password?

Tom at the Genius Bar told me that Option Delete would work. It does not.
I had to upgrade to iTunes 11.1.(I26) because it is required with OS7 on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). I have tried shutting down iTunes, then shutting down the entire system. This is the first in many visits that the Genius Bar gave me a solution that did not work.
This is a big awkward computer locked to my desk. I would rather not unlock it and then carry it through a shopping center to the Genius Bar if i can avoid oit.
When I installed iTunes 11.1, I discovered that Ihad to resubscribe to virtually all of the podcasts that I had previously been subscribed to. That was a surprise.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

It seems there is nothing to do with IE mode.
Please make sure your link still can be accessed.
The WebBrowser displays HTML content in applications running in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser applications or in Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted applications only.

Password parameter not working while Installing the certificate hosted on a Web Application Server

Hi,
We are trying to secure our SAP BI Mobile connection with certificates. According to the manual we are storing a password protected certificate on a network location.
On our ipad when I open the link: (according to manual: Administrator and Report Designer's Guide , chapter 4.14.2.1 Installing the x509 Certificate on Device)
SAPBI://action=downloadcert&certurl=<Download URL>&Password=abc123
It should open and install the certificate in the app without asking for the password. But thats not working. It does ask for the password. So I can access the certificate location and after entering the password it works. But I am giving the password parameter in the link so why is this not working?
The guide is a bit contradictory, and I quote:
"If you access the second link above: The application is launched and the certificate file is downloaded from the URL location (certurl).
The certificate is directly installed on the device."
But second quote:
"NOTE:
Since the password is already included in the URL, the application does ask the user for the password...."
My question: what is the use of this password parameter if you still have to enter it manually?
Does anybody know if this should work, and what I might be doing wrong?

Option + Reboot does not work.

Macbook Pro 2010 15" 2.66GHz Intel Core i7
So this is my miserable situation:
Last night I dropped my Mac on right bottom corner (unfortunately where hard-drive is located).
After this the device makes a jerking/clicking sound from right bottom corner which is most definately the hard-drive. I was able to use the device for a minute and then it froze. After a hard-reset the device got stuck on the apple logo while the wheel was spinning, waiting for a while, I got no response so I did another hard-reset and since then the only thing I was able to see was the grey screen with no logo.
I am aware that I need to replace the HDD but I have critical information to be backed up. So I discussed the issue with a friend of mine who is an expert in these situations and he told me to try to repair the drive with Disk Utility and if it did not work I have to boot into DiskWarrior 4.4.
About an hour after the incident I tried these:
Holding Option after chime allowed me to enter Recovery Mode. I tried this 4 times and these are the results I got:
First Time: The recovery screen showed "Macintosh HD" and "Recovery HD" with the chance to choose a network to connect to. Mistakenly I hard-reseted again since I did not know how to proceed.
Second Time: This time the only option on recovery screen was "Internet Recovery" and apparently the device did not recognize my hard-drive anymore.
Third Time: I had the options to do an "Internet Recovery" or "EFFY or IFFY Something (I don't remember clearly)"
Forth Time: I tried Internet Recovery yet received a -2002F error.
Last Time: I tried Internet recovery, was able to access Disk Utility. Proceeded to do a "repair" and got "Invalid Node Structure" error. While the Disk Utility was attempting to rewrite B-tree the Macintosh HD drive disappeared from left side and everything froze. I attempted another hard-reset until now.
At the moment: I borrowed a copy of DiskWarrior from a friend mine. I attempted to hold C after chime, I got no result even though I waited for approximately ad hour. Then I tried to access it through Recovery Mode. So I held option for a lengthily time and no result! Force-ejected the disk. Tried to access Recovery Mode by itself again and after 10-12 attempts I cannot manage to access it from gray screen.
I know I have to hold the C or Option key after the chime. I know that I have to "hold" it. I know how to operate these. This is not my issue. It just doesn't work.
I would highly appreciate if an expert can guide me through this.

though I doubt it will work with a dead/near dead HD. Depending on what has been damaged, a professional data retrieval service may be able to salvage some data; look up data retrieval in yellow pages or online. When you talk to them, make sure you're sitting down as their service is extremely expensive. IIRC, some won't charge you unless they can actually retrieve data. IIRC.
As for the MBP itself, it sounds like you know what you're doing, and putting a new HD should tell you if it was just the HD problem, or if there is additional damage.

Option+Return does not work in applescript studio

Fresh install of osx 10.4.6 Tiger, newest release of xcode.
I start an applescript studio application project, when editing in Xcode Option+Return does not insert the continue line character.
I can open the same .applescript in the Applescript Editor and Option+Return does work.
Also, Option+Return works in my desktop installation of Xcode. No idea what's different here or how to fix it, but it's really messing with my work flow.

Also search MSDN on what is required to for IIS to access local Printers.
Also search for ActiveX Controls and Browser permissions, you'll likely have problems there also since most Browsers will not or do not recommend allowing any ActiveX control.

I have found the solution! If you have a sw* parameter too long (really too long), the right-click context menu always work, despite the swContextMenu parameter... :-)

Option key is not working on PS4, mac OS 10.6.8

Hi I'm having a problem with PhotoShop 4, the keyboard shortcut for a couple of tools is not working at all.
1) The Zoom in and out function that uses the Option Key + Shift or Option to change the Zoom in or out is not working.
I'm not sure if it's a conflict with the OS or an operator error of some kind.
2) The Lasso Tool that uses the Option Key for doing a straight line is not working.
3) The Clone Stamp Tool that uses the Option Key for selecting the area you want to clone is not working.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?

SET/GET Parameter not working? pls hlp

hi i am using a transaction variant on transaction LT01 - create transfer order. using the transaction variant i have greyed out 3 fields on the initial screen. for the greyed out fields i am passing the values using a SET PARAMETER. This is working fine for 2 fields but it does not work for the third field. any idea where i am going wrong?? the first field is warehouse number which is working fine. the second field is movement type and the third field is storage location. the first 2 works fine and the data gets populated in the greyed out field but the storage location field does not work. The field has a parameter id. pls help its urgent.

Problem with combo in js IE - new Option(t,v) not working

hello! Did somene had experience some problems with
adding new options in select object (combo box) in javascript? I can change text or value property, delete option by setting it to null, but when I want to add new, there is a problem!?

you are right, it works in the 'mother' page, but if I want to add some options from popup window (window.open...), and when I accessing combo throught opener propery, than I have problem, because it is not working!?

How to use the hosts.allow option in Directory Server?

I would like to limit access to a directory server instance to localhost. I see in the Directory Server Control Center that there is an option to do this with a hosts.allow and/or hosts.deny file.
What do I enter as the service name for the instance in the hosts.allow file?

When I restart, previous tabs & websites open. I have selected open in new page in options this does not work

When I start my computer and open Firefox, all the tabs from the previous session open. For now, I have to return each session to my home page (Google) prior to closing to prevent this from occuring. I have selected "When Firefox starts show my home page" this does not work. I have de selected and then reselected this option numerous times and it has now become a very big annoyance. I am about to uninstall Mozilla if this cant be rectified.

Host function plus sudo command not working

Hi,
For normal command such as ls, it works.
But when I run the following
v_host := '/usr/bin/sudo -u devuser /test/app/dev/scripts/test.sh
host(v_host);
it does not work.

I imagine sudo is probably attempting to prompt for a password. I think it depends on who you are logged in as and who you are trying to log in as (and whether you have logged in recently within the last few minutes).
The host command won't support this kind of interaction. It needs to be a command that returns its results without requiring any further prompting.
That would be my guess.

Share - Burn option in IPhoto - not working like I thought it would

I have selected 67 photos in iphoto - totalling 206MB in size. I want to burn these to a CD Rom to give to a friend to use as jpegs
I select Share - Burn and insert a blank CD ROM
I get the error message "There is not enough space on the disc to burn all the photos you selected."
But the disk can take 700MB????
Then I try by exporting the same photos to a folder on my mac, and then burning these to the CDROM outside of iPhoto - and that works fine
So why does the SHARE - BURN option not work in iPhoto in this way?

The Share -> Burn option creates a "mini" iPhoto Library on the disk, including all the versions, thumbnails, databases and so on. It's designed for sharing with another iPhoto user.
If you just want to share the photos the File -> Export option is the way to go.
