Hot to gain space back in a tablespace after purging

Hi,
We are Oracle Apps shop running 11.5.0.2 and DB on 11.2.02
Some of our tablespaces are about 90% full.
I can always add dataifles to it, but before that, I purged a lot of old WF data (almost 3 M rows).
But my tablespace is still showing me 90 %. It has not gone down.
How do I get the space back?
TIA,
AZ

/You might want to re-think that piece of SQL - if I have 8 extents used and 5 chunks of free space in a tablespace then your join is going to give me 40 rows to aggregate, effectively scaling the used space up by 5 and the free space by 8. A UNION ALL would be a better bet.

    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • How do you get your space back?

I have downloaded apps on my 4s that I deleted but I want the space back so I can put more music on it.
How do I get the GB back?

You will need to delete things that are taking up more space. Apps aren't usually taking up much space, but if you have videos and music  on your iPhone then that will be the space users. Not sure what GB you have but it looks like you will need to delete some of the music and/or videos if you want to add music to your iPhone. Also, if you have a lot of photos then you might need to consider deleting those after backing them up on your computer or elsewhere so you can free up some space. For those with low GB iPhones this is an issue that unfortunately you discover after it's too late to do anything about it (since we can't add SD cards to upgrade storage space). That's why many people go by the rule of it's better to have more GB than you think you will use than to find out later you should have went with a bigger size. Of course, you'll have those iPhone haters that will gladly point out that is why iPhones are terrible because you can't upgrade the capacity with an SD card.

  • I have 5.6 GB of uninstalled apps and it's taking up all my data storage on my phone. How do I delete them or get my space back?

    Hi,
I have a 5s iphone with 16 GB. My phone storage is basically always full, to the point where I can't take pictures or send them. I only have 10 songs, 912 pictures and 2 apps. I don't use email on my phone, so it seems I should have space to have more apps and take pictures, etc. I looked at my storage manager and just noticed that it says I have 5.6 GB of uninstalled apps. I can't delete the apps from the apps store on my phone, even though they're not on my phone and when I logged into my apps store on my laptop, it said there were no apps... How can I get my space back on my phone? Does anyone know of a way to delete the apps or what to do in this situation?
    Thanks!

  • How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)?

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)?  I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library.  I can click on the Music link  under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not.  I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue.  This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.

The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC.  These we had loaded into iTunes.  I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine.  The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync.  I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again.  64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

  • HOW to find out the tablespace space utilized by a patch after applying the

I think there is no direct way to determine what tablespace is utilized by a patch from the README file. You could check the content of the patch file and see what modules are affected (assuming there are changes and the database level), then query DBA_USERS (DEFAULT_TABLESPACE column) for those schemas which are updated by a patch. Or, you could check the size of the tablespaces before and after applying the patch and you will determine what tablespaces have been utilized (provided that the application services are down, and none of the application users is connected to the application).
    Thanks,

  • How to reclaim spare space back at the end of my clips on the time line

When I have edited stuff on the time line I find that through moving clips around that I have an empty space after my collection of clips that I have arranged. How do I reclaim that empty space back so that where my clips end so does the time line.
I have tried saving the project and reopening it but this does not seem to do anything as I still have the space left.
Any help would be gratefully received Thanx ahead of time.

Control click on the empty space and, on the drop down menu, click on Convert Empty Space to Clip. Then, delete the clip you just created.
If the empty space is at the end of your movie, you can do the same as above. But, if your playhead still continues moving past the end of the movie, then expand your time line as wide as possible and check down your time line for little bits of clips left over from editing, and delete those. Any audio that extends past your video clips at the end of the movie should be trimmed back as well, even if you have muted them.

Why? A glitch. The second copies are links to your purchases in the cloud and are not taking up any room. Sign out of the store and they should disappear. Sign back in again and they should stay gone.

  • Can't reclaim space in tablespace after deleting records

    Oracle 11gR1 RHEL5 64bit
    Hi.
I am having trouble reclaiming space from a tablespace after having deleted all (thousands) of the records from a table (which resides in that tablespace). I have tried the following options to no avail:
    - Alter table <table_name> shrink
    - purge tablespace
    - purge recyclebin

What makes you believe that there is more space that can be reclaimed? Well, what I don't understand is that when a table (and only that table) was assigned to a specific tablespace whose data was completely removed is showing as if the data is still there...at least when you look at the tablespace. If all the rows of a table are removed, then shouldn't the tablespace size go down? There was 95 GB of data in that tablespace and all from that one table, which was completely emptied. However, it still shows the tablespace as being 95GB full.

  • RDF ORA-05136 error space quota exceeded for tablespace

    Hi,
I'm having a hard time finding the root cause of this error. My users have unlimited space and the tablespace has a starting 10gb space and expands with 1gb increments. This happens when I try to insert an array of triples where the objects are clobs.

    Hi User,
    Direct From the Manual,
ORA-01536: space quota exceeded for tablespace 'string'.
Cause: The space quota for the segment owner in the tablespace has been exhausted and the operation
attempted the creation of a new segment extent in the tablespace.
Action: Either drop unnecessary objects in the tablespace to reclaim space or have a privileged
user increase the quota on this tablespace for the segment owner.

  • Space is not released from tablespaces even after purging recycbin

    Hi,
I had 168GB of space occupied by recyclebin objects (BIN$...) when i queried on dba_segments, after purging the recyclebin it is showing 0.
But i didn't find any difference in the free space dba_free_space in tablespaces before and after purging.
Is it the thing that even after purging recycbin, it is not released the space for respective Tablespaces?
Also wanted to know how to release the space.
    Thanks,
    Mahi

If you have a table X, with segments in tablespace TS, and you drop the table, you now have a recycle bin object BIN$X that owns those same segments in that same tablespace TS. That's why the segments still appear in DBA_SEGMENTS. But Oracle knows that it is free to reuse the segments associated with BIN$X if it runs out of other space to use (and Oracle knows to reuse segments from recycle bin objects in the order they were dropped) so the segments are free in DBA_FREE_SPACE. Just like deleting a file on the file system is just updating a pointer to some sort of file allocation table but not actually removing the bits from the hard drive, dropping an object when the recycle bin is just marking the segments as no longer associated with a real object.
I have no idea whether 11g has changes to recover index names-- you might take a look at the 11g documentation (either the New Features guide or the Flashback Drop docs).

Why is that ?? how can i get my space back and the previous system folder its only taking up like 6 gigs stiil where is ther 15 gigs? its like if installed leopard over leopard again please help! i Want to get my space backk

    Hi JM111;
When you do an Archive & Install the procedure saves the old system for you in a folder called Previous System. It does this just in case something is missing so that you can recover it from the Previous System folder. Once you have tested the system and applications and are satisfied with it, you can delete the Previous System folder which will return some disk back.
