i have ipad 2 and iMac on iPad when setting up email account there is box for windows live hotmail but this isn't there on iMac. how can i set up iMac so that folders are there as i have on ipad

There is a 2701HG-B, and a 2701HG-D. If not labelled on the modem, ask Windstream which one they presently supply or how to tell the difference.
By the way tell your wife it isn't that bad. At least you have an ethernet DSL modem. There were times where DSL modems had RJ-11, USB, and Ethernet, and all three were used to provide access. At least now only the craziest DSL providers still use those modems.

ARD is totally unnecessary and inapplicable for your scenario. ARD is a Mac OS X application for managing other Macs and is not useful if you want to connect to a Mac from some other OS. Mac OS X has a VNC client build int, so VNC, or one of the number of other remote control solutions - LogMeIn, for instance, if they offer a Linux version - is where you want to be looking.

The implication here is that your music is only on the iPod, for if it is in iTunes, you need only do the restore. So you are really asking how you move the music from your iPod back into iTunes, so that when you restore it will go back to the iPod. Take a look at Para. 8 in this summary post I worked up.

I have the same issue with my New Ipad. My iPhone 4S updates to iCloud and I can even see the documents in
settings-> iCloud -> Storage and backup -> manage storage -> Pages on my ipad, but pages won't sync with the documents on iCloud.
I have done everything also, deleted all iWork apps, restored ipad, renamed documents on iCloud, deleted documents and uploaded to iCloud and nothing works. Use iCloud is on in all app settings and documents and data is on in iCloud settings.
Have not yet found any solution, please help, it is very frustrating to have to copy to Dropbox every time I make changes...

My wife and I each have an iTunes account. We just got a new iMac, and we want to merge our accounts into the main machine and use them together on our iPhones and ipad2.

Decide which device will be changing accounts. On that device, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll that you want to keep on the device, save them to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iDevice. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to delete any data that you don't want in each account (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa) you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete it.

My wife has an ipad2 which is synched with my imac. When she opens an email, it also opens on my imac, and when she deletes an email it deletes it from my imac. This is very frustrating. Can anyone help?

It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.

Can I watch videos I have shot on my Ipad2 on my iMac and edit them

I have shot a video on my Ipad2. Now I want to watch and edit it on my Imac and imovie. I have connected my Ipad2 to my Imac but nothing has come up to show my how to transfer it, nothing is showing on Itunes to tell me that the video I shot is there. I don't even know where icloud is to even look for it there, where is icloud? I have checked icloud.com/iworks but I can't see anywhere that leads to videos. Why oh why does this have to be so complicated.

Try opening Finder, (or opening your iPad on your Mac) and getting to the DCIM folder on your iPad. Drag the movie files onto your Mac.
I've not played with iMovie but you can also try the import option on iMovie and see if that will allow you to import your video onto your mac.

The ID for iTunes must be the same on both devices for it to automatically download purchases made on the other phone.
For example, if you have been using [email protected] for iTunes, continue to do so. One of you could also use [email protected] for their iCloud account and the other one use [email protected] for theirs, alternatively you could use [email protected] and [email protected] for the two separate iCloud accounts.

Issues with iCloud synchronisation and contacts over two or more devices. iTouch and iPad2 sync with different results from iMac. Thoughts?

Has any one experienced issues with iCloud synchronisation and contacts over two or more devices? The primary machine is an iMac running Lion. Address Book was created from vcf file (backup of address book prior to moving to iCloud). iTouch replicates Contacts just fine and matches the Address Book on the iMac. The iPad 2 does not showing only 123 contacts where there should be 200. I have turned off iCloud on both devices thus erasing the iCloud content of both devices and staring from scratch with both devices with identical results. Even turned off iCloud on the iMac and erased the Address Book and rebuilt with the same results. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am going nuts.....

To follow-up with this issue:
I ended up performing a security wipe on my device. The security wipe finished, and I was about to reconnect with Exchange when I decided to visit our host's web site to see if they had any articles covering the issues I was experiencing. While they didn't have anything specific, I did find a step-by-step guide to connecting a BB10 device to Exchange... and right there at the end, it said "Do NOT enable memo sync."
I contacted support, and the rep told me that OS 10 has an issue with memo sync and it can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Now, whether or not this is accurate I can say this: So far, the device is not disconnecting and reconnecting like it was before. Problem is, is this a result of not enabling memo sync, or is this a result of the security wipe?
I may have overlooked it, but I don't recall reading anything about that anywhere else. I'm tempted to try re-enabling the memo sync to see if everything blows up again. At least that way I can see for myself if the memo sync is a real issue. Of course, perhaps it's an issue with SherWeb (our host) specifically. Hm...
Anyway, for those that were interested, and for those that may come along in the future with a similar situation, the strange behavior that I first reported is no longer happening. I just don't know if it was a result of a security wipe or a result of not enabling memo sync with Exchange.

Just bought a new 27' iMac and am loving it. Already an owner of an IPhone4 and iPad2 so thought it was the next step... One problem. The Mail App in iMac is proving to be a pain in the backside. Got Hotmail and GMail running but when I try and connect my employers webmail, like I have with the iPad and iPhone it keeps rejecting...
Is there another Mail solution/app I can try? I really just want the same access to my employers email as I have with my iPad and iPhone so any suggestions would be great.

Ask your mail administrator at your job for the email settings and ports for the mail account, then try to set it up on in mail. Try different ports numbers and SSL in the advance settings in mail.

IMac and other Apple devices lose wireless connections

We have two Apple iMacs, a MacBook Pro, an iPad and iPad2 and they all intermittently lose their Wireless connection to my network. All of my PC's work just fine and stay connected. This is funny... the MacBook Pro booted to Windows 7 Pro stays connected, but the MacOS doesn't.
It appears to be a problem with DNS, because if you ping to a remote host, you get a response back. Also, if you put an IP address into Safari on the iMac and MacBook then a site will come online. However, the iPads just say "You are not connected" while in Safari. I have verified that I'm using the correct DNS addresses provided by my ISP, and I have a Windows Domain server running DHCP/DNS on the inside of my firewall.
We recently moved and were issued a new wireless router by our ISP. I was thinking that might be the problem, but then we don't have the problem with any of the Windows PCs. This router is manufactured by Arris. My other router was a Cisco that worked like a champ.
Turning off the Airport feature and turning it back on restores Web Browsing capability. Interestingly, if I have a remote desktop session running, it never gets disconnected even when the web stops working. Again, symptoms point to DNS issues.

If you feel it's DNS related then change the DNS setting to:
1. System preferences
2. Network
3. Click Advanced
4. Click DNS tab
5. Click + sign
6. Add 208.67.222.222
7. Click + sign
8. Add 208.67.220.220
9. Click OK.
10. Exit System Preferences
