Hotsync Zire31 with Vista Home Premium 64 bit problems

I am unable to hotsync on my new pc with a Zire31. I have Desktop v 4.14E and Hotsync 6.0.1. I bought a Sigmatel USB to IRDA adapter which the literature says is compatible with Vista 64 bit. I installed the adapter and Vista searched and found the driver for it and installed the driver. I left clicked the Hotsync icon and set Local USB and Infrared. I launched Desktop.  On the Zire31 I clicked on the hotsync in the menu not the hotsync icon. I changed the method to sync with IR to a PC/Handheld. I placed the IR within an inch of the IR on the Zire31 and clicked the Sync on the middle of the screen, "The PC displayed Another computer is nearby" , "Click to send files to the computer(my Zire31 name is here)". On the Zire31 a message "Unable to initiate HotSync because the port is in use by another  application.
Can anybody help me?

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
Your question is frequently asked and answered here on the forums.  There is no way to use a USB connection to Hotsync with 64-bit Vista desktops.  Your solution is with Bluetooth as described in this thread stickied near the top of this board.  You might also try Wi-Fi.

  • Itunes not working with Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Itumes 10.6.3 version will not work with Vista Home Premium. I have a 32-bit operating system. I'm not sure what to do next. It appears in trying to update it deleted the old itumes, as I can't find a copy of it when I search the computer.

    Then I installed Quicktime on its own - still get the same error 'Quicktime has stopped working;
Okay. That will be the source of the iTunes problem. (Without a properly working QuickTime, iTunes won't work correctly.)
Checking on things that can cause QuickTime launch errors now.
Have you at any stage installed any Codec Packs, any copies of the programs QT Alternative, QT Lite or Storm Codec, or any media converter programs that can convert files into QuickTime readable formats?
(I'm checking on these things because depending on the versions of the programs/codec-packs, these can install earlier versions of QuickTime componentry on a PC, which can interfere with the running of a higher version of QuickTime.)

  • NAT issue - WRT54G Version 1.1 with Vista Home Premium

    Router = WRT54G Version 1.1
I am trying to figure out the cause of my problems, this router or Vista?
I have 2 PC’s (just want to use my Vista 1) connected to the same router that is connected to a cable modem – the Windows XP machine has no problems bar its age and spec. I have a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium installed on it, now it is this new PC that I am having NAT problems with and port blocking.
I have installed Windows Live Messenger and when setting it up I went into Tools/Options/Connections and I get an error message:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. The Windows Firewall is enabled. (User)"
I have no option to run the trouble shooter (greyed out)…….
If I turn off Windows Vista Firewall I get:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (User)”
Since this I have installed Media server software and have to reset the port it uses every time as it is always stating that it is blocked.
I have downloaded OpenOffice via a torrent client which also stated that I had NAT problems.
I have no NAT issues at all on my older XP PC and as a result I believe it is safe to rule out my router and modem……..I have only disabled Windows Firewall and this had made no difference, but I have not tried uninstalling it (no idea if that would make a difference)
Oh, I do not have UPnP enabled (router setting) – does this matter (I have tried turning it on but made no difference to this issue so I turned it off again)?

  • Connecting DWCS3 with Vista Home Premium

I am having a problem connecting to my remote server using

  • Ipod classic compatible with Vista Home Premium 64 bit

    Hi,
Is the Ipod Classic compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit?
I found out the hard way that the Itouch is not!
    Greetings,
    Miguel

If I could I would answer your question.
But I do not know how I did that.
Itunes has been working since day 1 on my 64 bit machine, only problem is that it takes half a minute to copy album cover art to song in itunes, the computer is hanging for 15 seconds before the album cover art is copied.
I just took the Ipod out of the box and connected it to the computer and it worked fine.
Only problem that I had yesterday is that when I'm intergrating album cover art my hard disk is doing strange things.
Just yesterday, my RAID 1 was corrupted by Itunes, first hard disk 1 was failing and an hour later hard disk 2 also crashed.
Was able to reconnect them into RAID 1, luckilly.

Have you tried installing it anyways and see what happens?

  • Using ipod with Vista Home Premium

    Hello,
This is the first time this grandma has posted to this forum. I have an older Windows XP desktop pc which only has 20G. I decided I wanted to use my ipod on my new laptop which is running Vista Home Premium because it has over 100G and it has more storage so I can now feel freer to download more audiobooks and music. There is a error message on the ipod "current user not administrator". Also have problems with where programs are located on ipod. For example, there are podcasts on the ipod but none show up under "podcasts" on the ipod. Help appreciated. Barb
HP Pavalion dv6000   Other OS   Vista

I have same problem with my Inspiron 5150, Pentium 4.
iTunes ***** up most of my system memory. I was uploading one of my CD's and could do nothing else because the CPU was at 100%. This only started happening within the last month or two (note ; recent update) and I even tried reinstalling my OS thinking that would help. First thing I put back on was itunes- problem came right back.
    P.S> What is "iTunes helper.exe" and "iPodservice.exe"?

  • Tx2-1011au compatible with vista home premium 64?

I am looking to buy a tx2-1011au, the only touchsmart pc available here on our country (Philippines). As I checked the specs of the unit, I found out that it only has vista home premium 32 bit, with 2gb memory. Since this will be running on vista, I would want at least 4gb of memory on it. However, I was told that it is vista home premium 64 that can support 4gb of memory.
Is it possible to purchase a tx2-1011au that has a vista home premium 64-bit by default? Or if I had the os changed from 32 to 64, will I have any compatibility issues?
What I only need is 2gb of ram for the game i will be playing, and another 2gb of ram for vista and all other stuff. If I use 4gb of memory on a 32-bit system, will it really perform just the same as having 2gb of memory?
I really want an HP notebook and this will be my first big purchase so I want to do this right. Thank you very much in advance for the help.

Since you are using Vista 32bit, would you be able to post a copy of the 32bit Vista Touchscreen Drivers that was included in your laptop found in the SWSetup folder in the C drive.  All the HP Touchsmart tx2s in Canada all come with 64-bit Windows and have 64bit drivers only and the 32-bit touchscreen drivers cannot be found on the HP Website
64-bit version of Windows Vista should have no compatibilty issues with the hardware inside your laptop(As HP ships the tx2 with 64bit Vista as well), but may have issues with some of your accessories (ie Printers, Scanners, etc).  You will need to download from HP the 64bit drivers for your laptop whatever drivers that are not posted, you will likely need to ask an owner of a tx2 that has 64bit Vista preloadedYou need to make sure that the accessories used with your laptop works properly in Windows Vista 64-bit.  For some software, you will have to get a 64-bit version.
Software Incompatibility that i know about
Onenote 2007 (Send to Onenote Driver does not support 64-bit, but there is a workaround --> Search Google for Onenote 2007 adn 64 bit Vista)

  • Airport Express: Snow Leopard 10.6.3 / Vista Home Premium / connect problem

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3 running on my Mac Pro, and I have an Airport Express for the little wireless network I am trying to set up....
...I can get my iPhone to connect - that was easy!
    The problem:
My girlfriend is running Vista Home Premium on her HP laptop. She cannot connect to my network:
    a) actually it comes up on her computer as being "connected to an unidentified network"
    and
    b) she continues to get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when she tries to connect to the internet.
    Any ideas?
    1) Is there a connection problem between Vista and Airport Express / Snow Leopard?
    2) Anything special I need to do to let a Windows (or Vista specifically) computer connect?

Possible risks after someone cracked the password and connects to your Wifi:
    - Someone could sniff passwords when the password is transmitted in plain text (e.g. check for mails with POP)
    - Someone could access shares that are not password protected
    - Illegal use of your internet connection
But I don't know how likely that is. Your decision.
However, we now identified the Windows Vista Wifi settings as the source of the problem.
You can now play around with the different encryption settings in the AX and identify when Vista starts to not connect.
I now remember that I had to add the Wifi settings to Vista manually for WPA2 Personal (WPK) as the system messed it up when I connected with a click and provided the password. So if you want to try WPA2 delete the profile in Vista, probably restart and then add all the Wifi settings manually instead of clicking on an identified network. Vista is definitely able to use WPA2, so there should be no need to toggle between WPA2 and WEP once you configured Vista correctly.

  • My 3GB RAM T500 is only coming with Vista Home Premium 32bit, what to do about it?

OK, a recent thread informed me that switchable graphics T500s and presumably T400s can only access 2.5GB of RAM so I have been sold half a gig of unusable RAM with reassurrance from the sales representative I made the sale with that there would be no such problem, and that the concern was only with 4GB RAM and up.
    My options:
-Complain to tech support, ask them for a Vista Home Premium 64bit disc free of charge
-Clean install of Windows 7 64bit, and then when installed to download the 64bit drivers from Lenovo's driver page.  The original installation will have recovery discs made ofcourse should something go wrong.
The latter looks like the more appealing option, since I would like to purchase Windows 7 on release regardless, would there be any problems with what I plan here?   Help much appreciated.

  • Fireworks 8 compatible with Vista Home Premium?

I just loaded Macromedia Fireworks 8 to my new Windows Vista
Home Premium computer. When I open the program, Vista reverts back
to Home Basic - meaning it's not compatible with Home Premium. Is
there a free fix for this anywhere on the adobe site????? What do I
need to do? I'd like it to work without it bringing up the box that
says something like "using Home Basic"....to run the

FW 8 is essentially two versions old at this point and was
    not built
with Vista in mind. Fireworks CS4 (coming out sometime soon)
    will run
with Vista, but you can also check out the requirements on
    Adobe's web site.

  • Running Oracle Database 10g  Release 2 on computer with Vista Home Premium

Do you think I need all 3 of these downloads to sun Oracle on my computer at home? I have Windows Vista Home Premium.running on my personal computer at home
Oracle Database 10g Companion CD Release 2 (10.2.0.3)
    - 10203_companion_vista.zip (677,074,714 bytes)
    - Download latest Oracle Application Express (formerly HTML DB)
    Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.3)
    - 10203_client_vista.zip (616,067,114 bytes)

Windows Vista Home is not a supported platform. In this specific case it means you can install it and it will partially work. You will have your database up and running, but the Enterprise Manager will behave funny, and it will show several errors when you attempt to launch tasks such as backup, exp/imp, sqlldr, and all other tasks that require connection to the OS (tasks which require the connect as batch privilege). So you may get fun for a while, but if you are thinking about exploiting more EM features, then I suggest you to install a Virtual Machine and install either a supported windows on it or install Oracle Enterprise Linux and install the Oracle 10gR2 for linux.

  • Zire 72s will not sync with Vista Home Premium

Hi, I tried to sync my Zire 72 with my PC and it wont work ....I am pretty bad with computers, so if anyone could help me (in simple terms please). I have no clue what I'm doing. Thanks
    Post relates to: Zire 72

To check to see if your computer is Bluetooth ready, a bluetooth icon will appear in the system tray or you can check for a bluetooth application in your control panel.
If you are unable to locate any bluetooth functions on your computer, you may want to contact your orignal manufacture of the computer to confirm. If you do not have bluetooth built into the computer you can still get the computer bluetooth enabled. To do this will require the purchase of a Bluetooth dongle. These dongles can be purchased at your local electronics stores (usually) or can be ordered on the web.
The Bluetooth dongle will connect to your computer via USB and allow bluetooth communication between your handheld and the computer. This will be the only way to sync your Zire to 64 bit Vista. All you need to do is pair your device with the bluetooth dongle then initial the hotsync from your device. You may need to try plugging the dongle into different USB ports if connection issues occur. For further information and instructions please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 49229 in the solution id search field.

Firefox 3.6.3 takes over 1 minute to start first time in a session. Why?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Some time ago

There are a couple reasons it may be taking a long time to start:
    * Extensions may be slowing it down. Some, including antivirus toolbars, Browser Highlighter, and Skype extension are known to cause delays. See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
    * If you are getting delays where the status bar says "Waiting for site" or "Connecting to", make sure Firefox is fully allowed in all firewall software. See [[Firewalls]]
