I will be running Serato Scratch Live SL3 DJ software on my X60 and it would be nice to have a little extra sceen area for the display. How big of an external monitor can I plug into my X60? What can the built in graphics card handle?

OK, thanks. I was not able to modify the RAM voltage beforehand, since I pressed the "enter" key first.
But, now that I have applied 2.6 V, I don't know how to make the RAM work at 400 Mhz. Indeed, CPUz shows me that it runs at 333 Mhz.
In the chipset configuration, I can change the RAM frequency but the allowable values are 100, 133 and 166 Mhz. Not 200 Mhz.
And I noticed that the command rate is 2T. I changed it to 1T and no boot. I was forced to clear CMOS.
I looked at the RAM specifications (http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/PartsInfo.asp?ktcpartno=KVR400X64C25/512) but it is not told if these DIMMs can run at 400 Mhz, 1T.
Would you have an idea ?
    Thanks.
I use A64 3700+ with Corsair XMS 1G x 2. All RAM setting is auto and CPUz read 200MHz (3-3-3-8). RAM is at 2.6V
May be you can try using auto RAM setting and slightly increase the RAM voltage to 2.65V or 2.7V. If it work, you may try other custom RAM setting.

  • What can/can't plug into the USB hub on back of 24" ACD?

    Hello,
I have a harpertown mac pro 3ghz machine connected to my new 24 inch cinema display. Question, what can I plug in and not plug into the back of the USB hub? How do I know what devices would drain power from the ports? In other words, USB drives - I take it, one can't plug those into the back of the monitor's hub, correct?

The USB ports on the display do provide power (500 mA per port), so any USB device should work.
If you use the aluminum USB keyboard, though, there is a difference between the USB ports on the Mac Pro and those on the display. Normally, the keyboard acts as an unpowered USB hub, so each port can provide only 100 mA. When plugged directly into a Mac Pro USB port, though, the Mac Pro provides extra power to that port, so the keyboard has enough power to provide 500 mA to one of its USB ports. The means the keyboard can be used to charge an iPhone, or use a USB spick that needs more than 100 mA.

  • What can i plug into the USB port??

Would it be possible to plug in a D-Link Bluetooth Adaptor into the Airport Express USB port?
Also can i use a USB hub with the slot, so i can have my printer and BT adaptor plugged in?

    Simple answer - no.
See AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express: Uses for the USB port
A Bluetooth adapter of this type must only be plugged into the USB port of a computer.

  • How big a Quicktime file can I download into iWeb

When I create a video in iMovie how big a file can I make it (web-streaming, cd) so it can be published in iWeb and viewed?

Regardless of how you embed the file in your iWeb page have you tried reducing the file size. One mtehod is to open it in QT Player 7 and use the File ➙ Export for Web and use the Desktop setting:
That can reduce the file size considerable and keep good image quality.

  • How many USB-powered 1TB can you plug into an HP G71 Notebook

I'm using Windows 7 (service pack 1).  I have 3 USB ports, one of which I've extended with a 4-slot extension.
I bought a Western Digital Elements and an I Omega 1 TB USB portable hard drive (each nominally clocks in at 930 gigabytes).  I plugged one into one side of the laptop and another into the 4-slot USB port extension.
These worked great, except I filled 'em up too fast.  So I needed another one.  I bought another Western Digital Elements drive, exactly like the first one.
The laptop will make a sound when I plug in the third hard drive ... a positive sound that it makes when I plug in the other two.  However, the window that pops up for the other two does not pop up for this third.  Also, the USB port extension begins chiming ... just a little sound, but it's annoying, and doesn't stop until I unplug the drive.  Additionally, the third hard drive is not assigned a drive letter in Windows Explorer.  I can, though, unplug the first WD drive and plug in the second WD and the laptop will recognize the drive and assign it a drive letter.
In short, I cannot have all three of the drives up and running at the same time and visible in Windows Explorer, which would allow me to switch files between them.
Is there anyway I can get all three visible and working?  Or is there something wrong with the new WD Elements drive?  (I think the drive is okay.  I copied files to it and used those files just fine).
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry ... none of that exists on my drive.  In fact, when looking for a portable hard drive, I specifically sought out drives that had nothing but open space on them.  The I-Omega and the Western Digital Element were the two that I found that met that criteria.  Nothing in the very thin documentation even suggested that there were hidden files let alone program files for backing up, or partitioning, or whatever.
As for the Disk Management screen ... Yes.  I have that.  I click on "Computer" in the "Start" menu.  However, as you can see (if I've embedded the jpg correctly), even with the second WD drive plugged in, you cannot see it in this menu.
The only place you where you can tell it the computer "sees" it is when I click on the "Remove Hardware Safely" icon.  All three connected portable hard drives are listed in that menu, but no drive letter is associated with the second WD.  Also, in this screen there is only one thing you can do and that's to disconnect one of the drives.  I've tried to right mouse click and get a drop down menu, but no luck.
Okay ... I was wrong ... you can see it under "Devices," but the second WD is a little different.  The I-Omega and the first WD get a tool bar that lists Add a Device, Add a Printer, Autoplay, Browse Files, and Eject.  The second WD -- as you can see -- does not get the Autoplay and Browse options.  Also, I've tried "Add a Device" and the computer did not find the drive.  Oh, by the way, when right clicking the second WD for Properties the pop up menu says that the drive is working properly.
So ... you can see my frustration and confusion.  I'm beginning to wonder if the computer simply doesn't like the fact that I have two WD drives that are exactly the same.
Hope there are some other ideas to try ....
    Thanks

  • MBP suddenly doesn't find my external hard drive when plugged into the USB port

Last night I worked on some wedding photo editing and let the laptop battery run all the way down forgetting to eject my Seagate external hard drive. I got the message when I booted it today that I didn't properly eject. Now it won't "see" the hard drive in any of the USB ports, but the hard drive is lit up so juice is going to it. Any ideas how to fix this one?

    Open Disk Utility first.
    Insert the drive.
If it appears in Disk Utility, use First Aid (Repair Disk)
This should be called (Repair Directory).
If it does not fix everything on the first try, run it again until it fixes everything or gets stuck.
    Report any remaining error messages.
Consider getting an external Power supply for that drive.

  • Airport Extreme won't show the WD external hard drive I plugged into the USB port.  How do I connect my external hard drive to my network?

I plugged in my WD external hard drive into my Airport Extreme via the USB port.  The hard drive will not show up in the disk section in the airport utility... How do I hook an external hard drive up to the airport extreme?  I have tried 2 different WD hard drives.  I must be missing something!!!
    Thanks!

To be recognized by the AirPort for sharing, the WD HDD has to be formatted in either HFS+ (ideal) or FAT32. The easiest way to format the HDD is to use the Disk Utility in OS X.

  • Charging iPod abroad--can I plug into the USB port of a foreign computer?

I'm going to Guatemala and will be bringing my iPod touch. I expect that I'll be in internet cafes on a fairly regular basis. Is there any currency conversion problem if I charge my iPod off of the USB port in a foreign computer? Guatemala uses the same currency as the US, but I want to be sure it's safe...
    Thanks!

USB power output is standardized, you should have no trouble, just be sure not to sync with the machine if it has iTunes or you will remove all your music/videos.

  • I need a wireless mic that can be plugged into my MacBook Air. What do you recommmend

I am looking for a wireless microphone that can be used for a meeting. I already have speaker however I am looking for a wireless mic that can be plugged into the MacBook Air (which I purchased last year). Nothing fancy, just something inexpensive and easy to use...

any genuine good mic will NOT be a 1/8th mic jack microphone,  rather USB
The best mic at yet a low cost is one adapted from a quality XLR mic retrofitted for USB
    Audio Technica AT2020  USB
depends on what you mean by "inexpensive",  the AT2020 is $130,  which for a microphone, a quality one, is extremely cheap.

Quality mics are not made by computer parts makers,     rather retrofitted mics made by genuine microphone manufacturers.

With an 11"-inch Macbook Air (mid-2012) using a mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter plugged into the Thunderbolt port:
Can you configure an extended desktop with an external monitor (20") displaying full portrait mode (1200 x 1600 resolution) and keep the built-in display in landscape?

Yes, I can't see why not.

Normally, you just connect the monitor to the MacBook using a VGA adaptor that you can buy from an Apple Store.  Now try System Preferences > Displays > Detect Displays.  You should now be able to select a display mode for the monitor.  If it still doesn't work, then I'd check that everything is properly connected.  I've had problems with colours disappearing due to a faulty connection in the VGA adaptor.

  • Why is it that when I plug my Macbook Pro to an external monitor, the external monitor turns black and shows the mouse only

Why is it that when I plug my Macbook Pro to an external monitor, the external monitor turns black and shows the mouse only

Hi, yes preferences sees there is a second display it recognises what make of monitor it is etc but I just get a blank blue screen on the monitor when I change it to the hdmi setting! I have tried with mirroring on and off, rearranging the displays in the preference window and lots of different resolution settings but with no difference.
An old MacBook connects fine so the monitor and hdmi port must be okay. I'm sure we have used the cable before but it could have been with the previous MacBook Air. The current one I'm using is a mid 2011 version running lion and is (according to software update) all up to date.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!
