I bought an ipad second hand went home and restore it to find im lock out and can't activate it can someone hep me with this the owner cant figure out witch email they use to activaite it and said he remove it off his account already but it still asking for the same thing inorder to activaate it

You have run into Activation Lock. Without the requested AppleID and password,
you will not be able to activate the iPhone. Return it for a refund if you can.

I have just recieved my iPhone 4 and it has not yet been activated. I tried to activate it but it just says 'Activation Failed' and to put in the original sim card, which i dont have. It said when i bought the phone it was unlocked and i have tried to put in an 02 sim, but it needs an orange one which i dont have. Will i need to get an orange sim or is there any way i can activate it without jailbreaking it or the original sim. Thanks

Doesn't sound like your phone was unlocked.
To activate, a SIM card from the carrier to which the phone is locked is required. There's no way around this.

Problem:
I change the passcode of my son's ipad though lost mode to prevent my son from playing or using his ipad mini during school days.
My son son repeatedly input passcode to attempt to open his ipad mini and his ipad is disabled, i am trying to access it through
itunes but wont work.
I still remember the passcode i made to restrict my son but when it is in disabled mode i never ask me for the code and cannot restore on itunes the ipad.
the i pad is back up on cloud on my apple id through family sharing and made my son his own icloud account.

Just go to icloud and erase it. There is only one downside - you will not be able to activate imessage and facetime for 24 hours after erase.

If you are getting the connect to iTunes screen then it's too late to take a new backup and/or copy anything off it. Prior to starting the update did you take a backup, either to the cloud and/or to your computer's iTunes ? If not then have you recently taken a backup that might have your photos and apps content/settings in it ?
As long as the apps are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased tab in the App Store app (and the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes), and if the apps store their content on a server/cloud service then you might be able to get their content back from that - if they store their content on the device then you will need to have a backup.
For our photos you could try doing a search for programs that claim to be able to recover content from a device - I haven't used any so I can't suggest one.

You can't, i'm sorry. What you're running into is the activation lock and it requires that the original owner release it with their apple ID before you can set it up.

How do I know if the iPad mini has the retina display, before buying it, by the box it comes in?

I was recently trying to buy an iPad Mini with retina display but the box it was in did not say anything about whether it had the retina display. Also the price they were going to charge me was $299 and not the $399 of the Mini with retina display. So how do I know by looking at the box if the Ipad Mini in the box has the retina display?

do you mean on the back cover of the box or the iPad itself. If it is only on the back side of the iPad itself, then I wont know if I have actually purchased the iPad Mini with retina display until I have opened the box. To me this is unacceptable as it creates a huge hassle if my intent was to buy thr iPad Mini with retina display but was actually sold the iPad Mini without retina display. When I return it for eith the right iPad mini or my money back, certain retailers have a habit of treating such people like criminals even when it was the retailers mistake. The box should be clearly maked to indicate which iPad mini in contains so the purchaser does not have to feel like they're playing roulette.

This paricular retailer has you talk to their sales people on the floor and they give you a print out of the item you are purchasing. So I asked how can you tell by the box? The cashier told me all the boxes look like this one. Your response helped me but it does not solve the problem as far as I am concerned of being able to tell what iPad Mini is in the box simply by what is on the outside of the box. You may say, what difference does it make? My response is, not all retailers are scrupulous!

Ideally the best thing to do in this situation is a soft reset, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.
The factory settings option you've gone for should resolve this as well, but unless you've backed up you will lose content with this option.
