Maybe you are looking to re-purpose this equipment versus getting rid of it if so, the best thing to do is search the internet for tutorials. And I say this because it's what I would do, there are a lot of tutorials online. Hope you can find good use for them. Worse case scenario if you can't find something right now, package them very nicely and when you come across something unbox and enjoy. I've re-purposed a mac color classic and LOVE IT!!

I'm having this problem too - although it's a recent issue as I was previously able to view all my iPhoto library albums via Apple TV. Currently I can only get my Photo Stream (presumably via iCloud).
When I go into Advanced within iTunes Preferences, I can't see any options for photos - what do I need to do?

How can I best control a non NI USB device using LabVIEW?

One of our radio products has a USB port for local (test) control. When I connect the radio to a USB port on my computer the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer does not recognize the device. Nor does it recognize the device when I attempt to "add new device".
Within LabVIEW I am unable to assign an appropriate VISA resource name that does not cause an error when attempting to use the "VISA USB Control Out" or "VISA USB Control In" functions. The help page for wiring up these functions is unclear, particularly for the "request" and "request type" variables.
Would it be best to pursue this current method or purchase some type of serial (com port) to USB converter hardware to communicate with my USB radio?

Sorry for the hijack, but this is a related question... I have an LV application that works using COM1 on the PC. Customer wants me to change to a USB-to-RS485 converter. I installed the Windows driver for the converter, then plugged the converter into USB port on the PC. Windows and MAX both see the new port. What I'm not sure of is the best way to have the LV app find the converter. This application will be used on a variety of PCs so the COM port will be likely to change from PC to PC. Or even on the same PC, sometimes another USB device might get plugged in before the converter.
So the question is this: The converter will always have the same vendor ID. Is there a way for LabVIEW to look at the USB devices and pick the one with the correct ID ? Or maybe this is overkill... the Windows driver makes the converter look like a serial port (COM4 on my PC). The original app that worked with com1 used the VISA Configure Serial function with ASRL1:INSTR.
I can modify the LV app to force the user to pick from the available COM ports, but would prefer to make this happen automatically.
Any suggestions ?

How can I play Windows games that require CD on mac mini bootcamp?

So have a brandnew optical drive-less mac mini, and have Windows 7 installed as bootcamp partition. Want to play a game on the Windows side but it requires a CD be in the drive to play - which, obviously, I don't have. I tried Carbon Copy Cloner to a USB stick - it worked for the installation but not the game play. Any suggestions how I get an image to mount that the Windows Bootcamp will recognize? Is it possible to mount the CD as a shared disk on my G5 elsewhere on my network or should I just stick to Daemon Tools or MagicISO stuff on Windows. If the latter - how do I get the data from a USB stick mounted as a disk image then (do I need to copy it to the local, then create a disk image and then copy to that image for example?)
I can see this is going to be a problem for all sorts of other things I still have "legacy" I can see so any help on this will carry forward, thanks.

Yeah, I know, but the whole idea of moving away from disks isn't such a bad one - so I'm wondering if I can implement it someway - I have the original copy disks so it's not about pirating them to play games but ripping them the right way so they work... hmmm.

How can I set up a wireless network between two Mac Mini's (media centres)?

I've just received my second mac mini (core duo, 1.83, 1 Gb ram)and want to set up a wireless network to link this with my original mac mini (PPC 1.42, 512MB) and my Belkin wireless router (g std).
I'm using both as media centres in different rooms and want to keep all my media (films, photo's, music etc.) on one mini (connected to a 640GB external drive) and access it over the wireless network. Sort of a more felxible Apple TV setup??
I've got the wireless network working no problems with both mini's connected to the internet over the network but I'm stuck at how I get the two mini's to see each other. I've tried "the Missing Manual" and these forums but no success so far.
I know it can be done but would really appreciate any suggestions/directions on what to do?

How can I install OSX lion on my completely wiped mac mini?

I have a 2011 mac mini server edition (Without CD drive), and tried to partition it to a RAID0 last night. I reformatted both drives (Just the inner partitions, so It shouldn't have affected the recovery partition), and now it will not boot.
When I turn the computer on, it flashes a question mark folder, and when I boot with option, it gives me a list of wireless networks on a grey screen. When I select my network, it logs into it, but doesn't do anything further. It will not let me boot into the recovery partition at all.
How can I re-install lion on this computer? I do have a firewire cable, so I could do target disc mode if that's even possible.

nope, you need a external drive 1TB in size to hold all the data from the 2-500GB's and double as a backup when the RAID 0 fails which they are twice as likely to do.
you can only install OS X on a Mac, so once it's there you clone it to the 1TB, option boot from it, create the RAID and reverse clone.

Hi, my wife and I both have a IPhone and IPad. We use the same apple account for purchases. But I don't want to stream photos on all devices. Is there a way to stream photos from my phone to my iPad but not to my wife's and then have her devices share here photos? Thanks in advance for the help.

You need to keep the same ID as you both have now for the iTunes store but you need to delete the iCloud account for one of you on both the iPhone and the iPad (settings > iCloud, scroll down and select delete account). You then need to create a new iCloud account (settings >iCloud).
Before deleting iCloud accounts, consider that iCloud syncs calendars, email, notes, reminders and contacts, you won't delete any of that information from iCloud by deleting the account you will however delete it from the phone/iPad unless you turn each service off one by one before deleting the account, if you do this you will be offered the opportunity to keep the data on the device.
When you create your new iCloud account you will be offered the opportunity to merge data (if you have have previously elected to keep it on your device).
Hope that makes sense, my battery ran out just before I finished typing and I've had to type it all again - sometimes you rush things the second time around.

How can I remove a CD in Combo Drive of Mac Mini?

This is a Mac Mini operating on OS 10.58. I have a CD in the combo drive, and it apparently has something recorded on it. I think this CD had started to be burned and I stopped it. The computer indicates that this CD is not blank. The result is that it will not eject, even after several attempts using the small eject arrow at the top of the desktop, the use of apple-E, and after repeated efforts with a complete shutdown -- still the disk is stuck in the drive. I suspect that it's in a loop situation, where it tries to run the CD with not effect, but it also cannot eject it.
I notice a small black square, appearing to be black plastic, at the far right end of the CD/DVD player slot at the top of the Mac Mini. In the old days there was such a hole into which one could stick a straight wire, like a heavy duty straightened paper clip, and it would physically eject a stuck disk. Is there such a thing on this Mac Mini?

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
/usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
